Apparently I did it a different way. I didn't realize my horse was nearby, so I escaped on foot and eventually collapsed from walking and all of the sudden my horse was standing over me and took me home with me hunched over it's back. Made me love my horse more
I jumped on a passing train while being shot at. Once some distance was made I found my horse running by the train so I tried to jump to it and failed, rolling around before being knocked out.
Hosea quickly recognized that this was a trap. He seen that trap coming a mile away. This is prime example of what happens when Dutch lets Micah influence his decisions instead of Hosea.
@@hoodnationproductions In the very least please try to catch up to the other generations and give us better quality comments. "Ok boomer" is lazy and trendy. C'mon man. You guys also beat memes to death in every comments section by all trying their hand at the exact same meme/joke. I can't even comprehend how stupid you all are as a whole. Ok zoomer?
I honestly thought that they were gonna pull a GTA 5 and make John a playable character to rescue Arthur and you'd go back to playing as Arthur after being rescued
I mean, thatw ould be a nice little referance to that one mission in GTA 5 where Michael is trapped in that butcher facility and you have to play as franklin and rescue him using an app.
When it said "escape on a horse" I accidently mistook that for "kill every O'Driscoll in sight" which was pretty hard with throwing knives but I managed :P
MCP/ChronicBuzz same bro, I was trying to get to my weapons but I accidentally went off on everybody using only throwing knives until I finally made it to a gun in which case I only had 2 people left to kill
MCP/ChronicBuzz i killed all their man on that hideout, then kill their patrol, you can received back your weapons at that hideout, i used shotgun while on horse.
Me too. I mean He almost didn't realise we are kidnapped and He came back to camp. C'mon Dutch. Arthur is the one of the first and the most important member of the gang with Hosea and you didn't even realise he was gone?
I kinda wish we could've seen Hosea's reaction to Arthur being dragged back into camp, especially since he seems to care about Arthur a lot more than Dutch.
I like this game because you're playing as a main character who is actually cared and loved by other characters, which almost every game fails to do. You actually feel like the gang has you're back especially with dutch, Hosea and the gang breaking you out of prison, and acknowledging you, and knows you're the most capable, instead of sending you on fetch quests and still treating you like nothing. It's a breath of fresh air here that Arthur is the most valued.
JMD Nelson we’re talking about hardened killers. Of course they’re gonna laugh about shooting a guy. I’ve met privileged rich kids that get their rocks off by threatening people with whatever weapons they have.
Did you guys know that if you kill the guy straight ahead of the cellar door and just run, you eventually collapse and your horse comes to you and takes you home.
Yeah...I thought it was cute that the horse kinda knew that Arthur was weak and his horse(Charlie Brown a brown dapple Dutch warmblood) was very loyal enough to do that for him cause that horse could've bucked him off and run free...
Man this mission really shows how one sided things were for Arthur. Dutch had Arthur go out and rescue every single person that got caught by the law or otherwise, yet not a single person went out to look for Arthur after he was kidnapped
I'm pretty sure they were. Arthur was probably gone for a minute, they were probably mounting up for an attack. Idk. I wish Rockstar elaborated on that. Because you ARE right. Dutch valued Arthur more than anything. Colms plan wasnt dumb. Lore wise, he would've stormed over there with EVERYONE in the gang, and killed colm personally for harming Arthur. Dutch rescues Arthur from prison, and he takes care of him multiple times, here, and in guarma, and says that Arthur is more than a son. That is a good point you're making, but I don't think it's because of what you're saying it is, it's the problem of Rockstar for not elaborating on it.
I dunno, notice how Charles, Lenny, Sean, Bill, Javi, Micah, and John weren’t at camp when Arthur returned. I’d like to think every fighter in the camp volunteered and/or were assigned to search high and low for Arthur. But when he came back, everybody else did as well.
If you’re out roaming for too long, one of the gang rides out to find you, saying Dutch sent them because he was worried. Either this was not long after he was kidnapped so they didn’t know, or all the guns are out looking for him.
@@luke8801The thing is, they should've known something was up as soon as Arthur didn't come back to camp with them, or at least meet up after the exchange.
@@jojibot9193 I don't see why the third game couldn't be set further back. RDR3 in my view couldn't be set after RDR 1 because there is simply no wild west left by that point in history. If I remember right it's like 1915 where the canon of the first game ends. Whereas if they set it back to Dutch's youth there's a great setting for the forming of the Van Der Linde gang, Dutch's views being formed and we would actually get to see the wild west in its historical prime (more or less) whereas the first and second games have been set at points where that way of life is dying.
@@Greenmonty9797 Perhaps but I think it would be strange for 2 thirds of a trilogy to more or less centre around the same characters only for the third to go in another direction
Mary-Beth : Arthur? Karen : Arthur? Dutch : Arthur? Charles : Arthur? Sean : Arthur? Javier : Arthur? Pearson : Arthur? Bill : Arthur? Sadie : Arthur _A R T H U R ?_
3:35 Dutch was still sane in this period, still had humanity inside of him, we could see that it was real and sincere. Hosea's death broke his spirit and he has lost his mind.
@bl0gmOnKeY78 Yes I know but that was before the whole "Why are you doubting me son!?". If I remember correctly, at this point of the game Arthur was following old Dutch without expressing any doubts against him.
BattlefrontZero I’m pretty sure he mentions later on that he thought Arthur must’ve gone off to do something else and that he would‘ve headed back to camp at some point alone. Considering Arthur’s gone most of the time anyway, that’s not totally unreasonable, and Dutch was still mostly sane here.
I’m confused why Dutch didn’t think anything of it after the meeting how Arthur was randomly gone and no where in sight and they thought nothing of it.
To be fair, when you play as Arthur you wander for days on end before returning to camp, or at least you can, so Arthur being gone for a while wouldn’t be too much of a surprise.
I think this is one of Micah plan. I think he the one who set Arthur up. Micah didn't care about peace he just enjoy to killing everyone. but in this mission he start talking about stop the war between two gang and that wasn't his type at all. So after Arthur was captured he might talk to Dutch to not worry about Arthur.
I love the scene when Arthur returns, really made me feel as a player that Arthur being hurt mattered to all these characters that are his family brilliant acting
me too. it honestly just makes me tear up because you can see that they care so much about him and everyone is so worried. really makes me miss the gang even more.
I'm with you. I don't think it was set up between him and the O'driscolls specifically, but he's an opportunistic little fuck who knew he had something cooking when Pearson gave him the tip about a meeting, and when he saw the O'Driscolls up on the same ridge that he then sends Arthur to. I think he knew it was a trap and just rolled with it because he's out to remove Dutch's moral support in any way necessary, short of gunning them down in camp (even though he draws on Arthur "as a joke" a couple times).
Same and when your horse takes you back to camp everyone is all around Arthur but Micah has a look of disappointment that ol’driscols couldn’t do the job right
ZboyGaming 101 lol coming from the company that said single player campaign is dying out...I’m surprised rockstar didn’t go all out and just directly say “FUCK YOU EA!!!”
@@TheGeoCheese Every game you named besides Xcom is open world which literally proves EA's point There are exceptions to what they said but overall it's true.
What I’m wondering is what happened after Arthur got knocked out. Like did Dutch think that Arthur left early or something? And what did O, Driscoll say? Like “oh never mind” or something?
Dutch 6th sensed the law coming for Arthur while Arthur was bait does no one pay any attention to detail? Dutch ain’t stupid enough to take obvious bait that would get him or anyone else killed.
Elf Loved Dutch is intelligent and charismatic but stupid and ignorant especially when he thinks his plans will work when it’s obvious it will go to shit
@@TheJoey3590 well i think that play a big role yeh. But in the game theres a scene where Arthur gets pinned by many enemies and Dutch leaves him. I think money made him greedy.
That's video game protagonists for ya. They get shot 1,000 times in gameplay and they're fine, but if they get shot in a cutscene, they're done. Hope you're alive
IndigoSimmer - Yeah it was a large bag of Jewels. I got that and my guns and my horse but didn't do it fast enough so no gold trophie for me just silver... LOL
5:05 It's a small detail but I love how the screen gets pulsating red whenever Arthur is in pain There's a moment of relief, then pain Like in real life Where you hurt yourself and the pain subsides but comes back each time
This mission made me love my horse more. Then the ending when your horse dies was brutal for me...Tamed and rode with an all black American Standardbred since the beginning of Chapter 2. Rode with it til the end. Even in the beginning of epilogue 1 I got another one exactly the same but just stabled it as a reminder of herr Morgan
@@Hundredsz1 He may have been the one to have brought it to Dutch. But when have the O'Driscolls not tried to kill anyone one of the gang. Especially if it was the boys that were with Colm. Plus Micah pushed Dutch to it, and he knew where the meeting was we we didn't even know if Colm agreed to meet. And he told Arthur where to go, before he got caught. Pearson did bring it up, but the whole thing was to timely and precise to be just a moment notice plan.
Micah probably got Pearson to play his game cause Arthur would go along with it. He knows that Arthur doesn't trust Micah's plans so he got someone else to get to Dutch. Micah is very cunning like that.
This is the most tense I’ve ever felt playing a video game, including horror titles. At least in most “scary” games you have complete control over what you’re doing in terms of a meta sense. With this, I had no idea what was going on. “Am I doing this right? Is this even what I’m supposed to do? Can I lose this mission, or is everything pre-determined?” Also, the feeling of all your cores being drained, making everything so disoriented and not having your weapons/items to defend yourself is a very scary feeling indeed.
“Mrs. Grimshaw, will you sit with him a while?” Yeah, that’s all he needs, just some rest, and someone to babysit him, no kind of medical attention whatsoever, let’s not even check guys!
This whole mission feels like the perfect set up to make one more Red Dead prequel. I wanna see Dutch and Hosea when they were young, and Arthur too. Aside from the obvious history that Dutch and Colm have together, I REALLY wanna see a young Arthur interacting with Colm, like maybe as a kid, Arthur was torn between running with Colm or running with Dutch. And then the game ends when they find little John. That's what I'd want in a Read Dead 3.
Ramen Lord it would close the wound but then it would get pretty nasty if you didnt clean it afterwards cause of the dead, burnt skin cells and burnt powder residue.
Oh man, if they're ever gonna do RDR3 then it's gotta be about Dutch or Jack, kinda wanna see what exactly happened with Dutch and Colm, that and what happened to jack after RDR
Let's leave well enough alone, not everything needs explained. Let's have a red dead *insert r word here* with a different gang or character if they make a new title.
Dr. Strangelove it ain't about explaining, it just makes sense and is pretty well set up already. Dutch clearly had a long history even before RDR 2 and Jack has a long road ahead of him now that the cycle of revenge repeated itself, it'd be a crime to just leave either of those plots open aired.
@Primordial Force The mission style is always the same. Ride somewhere,do some stuff, shootout, escape. What really helps this game is the good dialogue and acting and the many activities you can do in free-roam.
@@table3310 Because i totally said that,mr strawman Even gta 3 managed to have more varied missions than both gta 5 and rdr2,eventhough it had a bad engine, the missions were open-ended and could be done in many ways,rdr2 has missions, that tell you exactly where to go and what to do and where to shoot next,so that everyone has the same scripted experience and once you act a little different, you fail the mission Rockstar never fails to create vivid and gorgeous maps, but then restricts itself with this mission style, imagine if there were more missions like "Get some money" and you could plan a robbery or that mission where they steal the sheep or something else yourself and really act like the secondary leader you are as Arthur, choosing gang members to either come with you or protect the camp, placing them yourself at vital locations and the amount of money you get would totally depend on your own preparation and your thoughts you put into it The current mission style is more like a cinematic movie amd while it is nice to look at,the massive worlds, rockstar creates, are criminally underused that way
I didn't see it, beginning with the fact Dutch was still there and not out looking, and shooting down Pearson's apologies, not apologizing himself, not sitting with him, and it seemed Arthur was not really in the mood for Dutch's 'pretty' words of promising to keep him safe (which was really a lie at that point, considering. Now is not the time to lie to the man, Dutch). Think of how Hosea would have reacted, if he'd been there. Much differently I would imagine. :(
Man author really deserves better, even tho he bad, he still has had a pretty bad life, him and John both choose redemption. And it still is bad. I loose respect for Dutch every mission cu author keeps telling him he doing wrong.
Yep, And it did. I watched a yt video about TB. Before all his torture etc Arthur Just had The TB sitting in his system, Not the lungs just yet But you know chilling closely, So When he got Kidnapped, Well, Not eating for days, Being hung upside done and also having an open wound Isn’t going to fix things so I’d say the Torture is when It finally got to his Lungs, And When Guarma Struck Is When It spread In his lungs and made him Unwell. Imo, Lmao sorry for the essay 😂
ridiculous ronin Yes, sorry my bad I forgot to add, The Tb started with Downes, however wasn’t bad yet, Arthur could of quite possibly survived if he didn’t take the route of the gang, the torture and swampy air didn’t help his lungs at all So that caused it to spread, Just makes you wish he took a route where he got a wife and got lost after a particular scene 😂
14:13 Arthur's voice, Felt anger and dried and a sense of betrayed in a little amount, More or less sounded like a dying Lion, roaring with sheds of wounds.
It just doesn't make any sense it seems out of character for both of them to just walk away like it was nothing and Dutch never sent a rescue party for Arthur, just left him to die...... which is unfuckingbelievable.
Idk why but it just warmed my heart because this mission kinda showed how much Arthur really meant to Dutch. Like how worried he was when Arthur arrived at camp and how Colm was talking about how furious Dutch would be when he found out he took Arthur.
The way everyone rushes over to Arthur is so sweet, they really were worried about him. And the way Dutch and Ms. Grimshaw fuss over him like worried parents is cute, too.

You can see the respect Colm had for Arthur offering him to join his side despite obviously being set up. It shows who Arthur is to other gangs like the O’Driscolls since he’s a senior gun with a huge resume.
I feel like this encapsulated Arthur’s power for me. Just everything he does seems calculated but on the fly at the same time. Acting on instincts, I guess.
I knew it was a trap on my first playthrough but when Arthur got captured my heart dropped. And when Arthur got shot with that double-barrel I thought it was over. Then when I saw Colm's face I wanted to kill him so badly but I couldn't. My favorite part was definitely escaping captive.
