Johns hair is at 5 in this video. If you do not wear a hat it looks better at a 6. His beard is a pencil moustache level 2 and dundreary chops level 2 as well as a chin at level 1 or 2 regular. Just play around until it looks right.
I say level 5 hair for John. If u put on certain shirts it shortens his hair. But just put on a different shirt and put on a hat it looks like his hair from Rdr1
@@osamabidladdin7645 I've always said that Arthur was a good man doing bad things(for the camp mostly) but still, Arthur did help a lot of people through out the story
"Nah, I ain't no good man Brother. Just tryin' to do what's right." "You may not realize this yet mister Morgan, but any man who just 'tries to do right' *is* a good man."
Well its 1907, the likelyhood of some random mf finding someone else and knowing their name or Arthur's in the exact location they are in is so damn slim that itd be crazy not to believe him.
@@arthurmorgan7398 I love the detail this game has and they do make an effort to have the side characters age like the bartenders in each town and state, when you play as John they all have grey strands of hair and the Rhodes bartender when you play as John is thinner and older looking than he was when we were Arthur. But the side characters in the missions don't age. Especially the Boy Calloway writer, he just sits in that bar for 8 years haha
@@brian.phillips1985 yeah Charlotte looks older but it's weird because after I helped her then went back after awhile still as Arthur to talk to her the game must've glitched because when I visited her as Arthur again she all of a sudden has grey hair
2:37 Tacitus Kilgore? You mean the guy I met for five minutes, seven years ago, asked him to get some stuff for me, and never saw him again? HOW COULD I FORGET???
Well actually during the mission “The Gilded Cage” you can save Algernon’s life at the party. He was choking on a peanut and Arthur saves him, it’s only needed for the gold medal so not everyone did it. But yeah assuming Arthur saved his life at the party I don’t see it as a far reach that he remembers him.
@@TheAbbeyoftheEveryman Yeah, it's just a funny story thing how all of these people remember Arthur after all these years and when some random guy shows up saying he was friends with him they just immediately have him finish whatever task it was. Lol
I like to imagine an alternate ending where Arthur doesn’t get tuberculosis and him and Charlotte get married and live happily ever after while him and Hamish become best pals.
@@LynnHarrod i had very low honor with Arthur and john said at the war veteran in valentine that he sacrificed his life for john and the vet replied by saying that he never expected Arthur to be that kind of a guy ( a reminder that i always gave mickey money as Arthur)
I haven't beat the game yet, but let me get this straight. If you start a side journey as Arthur and don't ever finish it before Arthur dies, they actually wrote an entirely separate set of dialogue for John to finish some of them? That's fucking dedication.
ALL of them, too. Some more advanced then others. The only one you can’t complete as John after Arthur starts it are any side quests that start/end in chapter 6, though even then a few of them that start in chapter 6 can be started by John, you just can’t switch characters
Well in the first meeting he'd only met Arthur once. The second one he doesn't stop talking about him so I guess he's just not very emotionally expressive
@@batjoke777 Yeah Hamish is embellishing the kill to make Arthur look cooler. Hamish and Arthur had a lot in common, which is why I think they bonded so easily.
Hamish was one of the only stranger missions that didn't feel like a stranger mission. Felt like a genuine guy to spend time with. Was definitely one of Authurs true friends.
@@DrunkGnu yeah I think some side quest still have Arthur's animations but a few were definitely changed. I love how they took the time and effort to give John and Arthur there own separate animation, posture and such. It would have been so easy just to carry all of that over to John and have that be it. The only issue I have is that, during the epilogue they gave John Arthur's hair and just changed it from blonde to black. You can't really notice it while wearing a hat but it's way different to how it looks during the main game and RDR1.
Yeah the last Hamish mission and the widow closure was probably actually meant for John all the other ones fit more for Arthur but those two actually felt like John was supposed to experience them.
My favorite Arthur memory convos are Hamish and Charlotte. Veteran IV was so adorable how he showed off Arthur's "Trophies". Felt more like a father to Arthur in 3 missions than Dutch did in 6 chapters
My oh my, I have to say, you did a great job in making John Marston look good. The facial hair, the outfits, always in tune with the environment and the climate. You obviously pay a lot of attention towards his attire, and it shows. Glad to see I'm not the only one going for a more immersive playthrough.
Murc Not any style would be fit on John this rdr1 style with average weight makes John better because John has triangle face so this style is fit on John medium hair right parted with short beard that’s awesome
They should have gave John his own set of stranger missions, (other than just one of course) they did the same thing in the first game. They could have made a few that tie into RDR1. Missed opportunity.
Antonius Jackson well I have some valid ideas for what they could be doing with that to actually make that worth while but they seem to just be letting RDR Online go.
GTA 5: Promised single player DLC... Never made any. Red Dead 2: I know we never have you any GTA 5 single player DLC but this time we really definitely promise.... They even hinted you might play as Sadie. I just don’t get it. Anything they would make they’d make a tone of money on.
The ONLY thing I wouldve changed, is have Hamish make a comment like "i'll give Arthur your regards" before his passing on the final mission. He's a tough old bastard and seems like something he'd say at the end. RIP Hamish, you were my favorite stranger
I like how Hamish tries to make Arthur seem like a badass by telling John he killed the wolf with his bare hands, when actually it was his rifle. I mean Arthur is a badass, but still a nice touch.
In my 2 playthroughs i always did first 2 missions as arthur. He helps him and later catches that bigass fish for him. Then when i play as john i do the rest of the missions, and feels like the veteran is somewhat of a mentor for him, on the final mission hamish shows john the fish arthur caught years back aswell. Nice touch from r* Plus you get to keep buel
I really like the small detail in Arthur's journal if you don't finish the veteran with Arthur and finish those missions with John. John writes a small note about how he can see why Arthur liked him so much. It's small but for some reason I've always liked that
The Widow and one legged hunter are two of my favorite quest lines in the game. Two of the saddest too, if completed by Arthur. Gave Arthur a glimpse of what his life could have been like if he would have given up on being an outlaw an found somewhere peaceful to live.
@@pedinhuh16 it’s just funny cause I’m imagining John picking up Arthur’s to do list and wearing Arthur’s classic outfit going around talking to these people he’s never met and just assuming the role of Arthur

Daniel Esposito you read the letter yes but you have to come back to st denis at specific times usually in the night time and sometimes the mission doesn’t pop up on your main map but if you go to st denis it usually pops up when you go near the mayors house. I think it’s been a while. I haven’t played story mode since after this video because I got burnt out on this game making this lol.
5:00 seeing her reaction genuinely made me smile. Just like seeing her interactions with Arthur... fuck.... I thought I'd never cry over this game again.
12:08 Thats a semi-replication of the "Deadly Assassin" outfit from RDR 1 right? looks fantastic, shame about not being able to use an eyepatch with it though!
Gabriel TS Gardner he’s actually wearing the cover art vest and tie in the first sequence too and the duster outfit when he talked to the painter. He even wore the legend of the west outfit when he saw Albert mason.
You need to have good honor first. Go to Wallace station. There is an outfit there with a black classic frock coat. Called the Drover get it. A dark blue Paisley vest you get at any clothing store The French dress shirt the legend of the east shirt if you don’t have it then the regular black one. Work pants black pinstripe Hunting Fowler boots brown And a black stalker hat.
@@CharlesTheeeGreat maybe its like a 50%/50% thing...I know that Rockstar has the technological advancement to record a scene one day and the next moment was recorded 2 years later (if that makes sense, sorry if it doesnt) so maybe that's why John's is like that
@@CharlesTheeeGreat No, they walk and run with different animations, but John uses the same walking-in-camp animation at beechers hope, and Arthur's vomiting sound. There is a comparison video check it out.
I like to believe that in the canon story John did indeed continue to check up on all of the people Arthur helped to become a "good man" and help those that still needed helping.
GAAAAAHHHH DAMN, John looks amazing at 12:09 and 12:22. That Stalker Hat looks great on him. Pause on John at any point between those two timestamps and it looks like a still from a western. Maybe a Tarantino film. Great job with the outfits and hair/beard options!
You really did a great job on this collection. It gets me all misty eyed again hearing the strangers speak so fondly of Arthur and truly mirrors how fondly we gamers remember him as well. Cheers!
One thing I heard is that apparently the Widow in the woods can die out of the side mission if you help her once...but then leave it at that, so once the time skip happens to play as John, since she never learned any skills to fend for herself she perishes. I’ve not gotten the time to do it since I don’t want to feel like human garbage.
@@keptyouwaitinghuh2113 yeah I know that but if you didn't meet her in the first encounter as Arthur she'll still be their after 8 years This is just a videogame no need to feel like human garbage!!!
I mean, the guy helped them at their lowest point, possibly changing their lifes (Especially Charlotte and Hamish). A small speck of kindness and a turning point people would never forget.
9:16 it's funny how he was supposed to go fishing with Arthur 8 years ago and somehow remembers that and then asks John to go do it with him instead and they met literaly not even a minute ago lol
From my experience, fishing is one of man's most natural bonding moments. I've seen total strangers, including myself, invite and or tag along with other strangers simply to enjoy fishing and meet more new buddies
@@flux8815 I'm not a fan of fishing myself but I can easily say from experience that it is among the most humble and humanizing of all activities. It's really neat
Okay when I played as Arthur we went fishing and the vet ended up dying after a few visits. When I would ride by the homestead as Arthur, he would go: "yeah. I miss him too" to the horse
Getting Turberculosis created a change in him, no more beating people for money, and going out of his way to do the right thing. Without it he may well have remained the unkind man he always considered himself to be.
@@multifantv1245 that's not what he's saying. If you don't donate Arthur's name wouldn't be up there. I donated on two different playthroughs came back as John and he looks at the plaque but he doesn't make comment about Arthur like in this video
It’s impressive that this game went into this much detail. For the 1% of people who were going to start the side quests and then Come back at the end of the game.
I helped the woman hunt as Arthur but never got around to helping her learn how to aim as she was shooting bottles. When I went back as John to help her, I found her dead on her cabin floor.
It melted my heart seeing Hamish showing to John the fish and the wolf that he hunted with Arthur years back. Rockstar attention to detail is pretty insane
Missed a few clips when I made this, this Is a re-upload with a couple of extra scenes I forgot. I organized the mission dialogue as well so it's not too complicated to know which missions what. Magnifico, Margaret and the lion, the chain gang, Dr Renaud, and the electric chair professor all were missions that john Marston couldn't get dialogue for. If you're wondering why some parts from these specific missions are missing like Hamish's second mission with the hunting, and Albert Masons alligator missions and horse missions, it Is because it's basically repeated dialogue from the first encounter. The Dutchess Exotics missions I couldn't seem to finish as Arthur because you needed 7 Lady Slipper Orchids however only 6 would appear for Arthur, I even tried going to tall trees but they didn't spawn in their usual spots there either. The missions at the beginning were missions that only had one mission where John speaks about Arthur.
It’s amazing how much care they put in the game. The different dialogue for each mission, even different parts of the same mission, show just how much work they put in.
It's nice to see Arthur touched so many people's lives. It's a video game but Arthur feels like a real person. That's how you know you've got one of the greatest games of all time on your hand.
I’m like. A bit salty at myself. Because I knew what was coming, I wanted to do all I could - but the specific dialogue of characters reminiscing would have been so very sweet.
When people ask me why I like this game so much I answer them it's because of a good story and the little things being affected by it in the surroundings and as a player you can experience so many different scenarios Respect to all rockstar employees who worked hard for this masterpiece hope GTA 6 or rdr3 is even better
Amazing how life goes on even after you're gone, but are still remembered by those you've been kind to, that you mattered to them and had an impact in their lives
Hamish's last guest was the only one that would've been better to left to John. I mean, I did every non-collectable guest as Arthur before progressing, and I'm glad I did; he got to see the fruits of his labor before passing. But the way Hamish shows off the fish and the wolf to John, and the fact that he dies at the end of that guest makes it a little, I don't know, more melancholic? In a good way.
