Red Devil Cichlid Breeding Progress

I’m experimenting with breeding my Red Devil cichlids. I walk through some of the aspects of how to get your red Devil cichlids to breed. Give them a flat slate stone to lay eggs on or a terra-cotta pot. Maybe jump up the water temperature a bit and see if that helps. Water changes will also really help bring on breeding. Hey man, can you maybe do a species spotlight on the istlanum cichlid? (Amphilophus istlanus) I recently acquired a coincidental pair of these and I would like an all in one video I can refer to due to the limited info that can be completely different source to source

I have an experiment for you to try, put a small hang on back filter in half of your tanks for a month. See how much your electricity bill increases and how much nicer your water will look. I have a hang on back filter is in all of my tanks and the electricity has not been too bad and my water looks perfect. I was thinking it would be worth a try for a larger fish room

I did the same thing as a background to my 55 gallon red devil's tank..but I didn't like seeing stuff float around so I removed it and taped the cords out the way..looks way clean

And 80-81 is like the magic. I would trick mine by goin as u kno as cold as they do go for a week then go 80 and feed frozen bloodworms and bam! 😆

I have a red devil appx 11-12 years old. She has been solo dweller her entire life. She lays eggs occasionally. I wish I had a male so they could hatch! She guards them for a few days and then usually just eats them 😳 I wish I could add a picture so you could see her!

Gah when you mentioned those cords I remembered I forgot to get a blue background for my tank 😆 hey man you ever bump the temps up to around 86ish? It REALLY works.

I have a red devil bullying my entire tank driving me crazy. He's really only attacking my oscars and none of the cichlids. Not sure what to do with him, have a 30 gallon tank i'm thinking about putting him in

They do best solo or paired they are mean as hell likr flowerhorns. Another bummer cichlid for comminities is thr texas super agro too.

I have a question about water parameters, so I got a new tank and I set it up around a month ago, so technically speaking time wise it should be fine to put fish in. I’ve tested my water and my parameters are 0 chlorine, 0 nitrate, 0 nitrite, pH is 6.8 and alkalinity is 10. Do you think it is ready for fish or do you think I should wait and get something like a buffer for my tank, am I missing anything?

Usually to get my fish to breed I simulate a dry season for 2 weeks, no water changes, bump the heat a couple of degrees then do up to a 70% water change with water that is about 75 degrees. That night I tend to find eggs.
