I watched this with my Grandma, who was probably about 92 at the time. She was on the edge of her seat- LOVED this movie. And when it’s revealed that Cillian Murphy is the bad guy, she went “I just knew it. There was something in his eyes. He really just deserves a kick to where it hurts. Don’t tell your uncle I said that.” 😂 I always think of that whenever I rewatch this. I love this movie so much.

I think the backstory with Lisa being attacked was important. Not necessarily to the plot but to the character development. It happened in a parking lot in the middle of the day. It's reflective of her current situation. She's in a very visible place surrounded by people. All the comments Jackson says about the assassin "only responding to his master" and that her being raped was "beyond her control". The fact that he gathers more information about her than he needs when he follows her and the way he chokes her in the restroom when he doesn't have to. He's not just a trained killer but he is also a dominant rapist who gets off on controlling her. Their entire chemistry is reflective of an abusive relationship. He spends the entire time taking away her voice so Lisa finally takes back her control and takes away his voice when she stabs him. She makes her move and the entire plane is in a panic. That's why I love this movie.

The single greatest piece of movie trivia ever is that the turtle scene from Master of Disguise was filmed on September 11, 2001, and when they heard about the attacks they held a moment of silence. So Dana Carvey first reflected over the loss of thousands of lives while wearing a giant turtle costume.

I LOVED this movie!! The BTS really show how much fun these guys had. In fact Cillian didn't want Rachel to hurt herself again in the bathroom scene so he caught her head when he slammed it against the wall. Oh just to let you guys know I worked in Hotel Reservations and many of the managers that worked at the different hotels were about as young as Lisa!! And just as cheerful lol The remake of Last House is actually one of my favorite films but the original was very jarring and I agree different from most Wes Craven.
@Firespawnable
@Firespawnable 4 года назад
I read Cillian did hurt her in the bathroom scene he knocked her out and she had to go to the hospital so when they re shot the scene Cillian held Rachel's head so he doesn't knock her out again because the bathroom scene was very intense. As Chelsea says Cillian does kinda beat her up in there. Ohhh and fun fact Cillian was actually getting married when this movie was shot.

I worked for a hotel right about when this came out. Each department of the hotel has its own management staff, and there's managers over the department leaders. So it's absolutely possible to have a young 20-something as, say, your Reservations Manager or Housekeeping Manager or even your Human Resources person, who's management by a different name. General Manager...probably not, but if the hotel was owned by a family-run business, it's absolutely possible.

Following up to your comment about how no one is listening in into Lisa and Jacks conservations, they do make it clear in a few shots that a majority of the airplane is asleep from the flight being a Red Eye. Also pairs well with the plot of the movie where Keife is suppose to be assassinated by dawn.

You mention "Why would no one help her?" If you haven't researched it, look into the story of Kitty Genovese and the Bystander Effect. There are some good RU-vid videos that show just how unlikely people are to help someone in large groups. But that scene is very accurate to what would likely occur.

The closest I have ever seen Cillian Murphy play a romantic comedy lead was Watching the Detectives with Lucy Liu. I am still bugged that Tron Legacy didn't get a sequel because his character was set up to play a bigger part in the continuation of the story. This movie always reminded me of Nick of Time and also Cellular. Yes, the longer flights on bigger planes did have the phones in the headrest and they were expensive to use.

I just assumed "the Comedy Marathon" was the Just for Laughs International Comedy Festival in Montreal...its the world's biggest comedy festival, airs in much of the world, has events sometimes referred to as "comedy marathons" and since it attracts a lot of non-verbal comedians it tends to get played a lot in hotels chains and on airlines around the world cause they can play it across multiple destinations without having to worry about being able to translate it to local audiences (so I just assumed they were trying to stay on the whole "hotels and planes" theme).
