It's so strange because Ruby starts off as this adorable and somewhat dorky girl and then her theme song adds so much depth to her character I love this song!

It's crazy knowing how Monty and the crew had everything planned out from the start. I remember listening to vol. 2 soundtrack for the first time and thinking "wow the songwriters are being really over dramatic. Like, they talk about rwby as if it's the most depressing thing ever, but so far the worst thing to happen is a little train wreck." then vol. 3 came and was like "oh all that dark foreshadowing from the soundtrack? Yea, that's just a warm up for what I'm gonna show you." I just never expected the show to take such a dramatic turn so suddenly.

It really broke my heart when I realized part 2 is Ruby and Summer talking to one another..

This song kinda makes it look like Ruby's cheery demeanor is partly an act.

Mommy Issues: The Song.

When its volume 7 and realise there hasn't been much character development for ruby and her mom yet

you know, given the more recent reveal that Ruby's mother died trying to destroy Salem and we know she can't be killed, the line "Don't do what I did, don't waste your life in vain" strikes me a bit differently now

I used to wake up at 3am in the morning in order to catch a RWBY episode airing half-way across the world. Whenever I think back, I get chills like no other. That's all thanks to this song and all the work everyone put into the series as a whole. Seriously; thank you for creating this.

Anyone else think that Summer's death may have been due to Qrow's semblance? Hence why he personally trained Ruby?

It hits SO much better with the transition between these two parts

Theory: Summer Rose is alive but is imprisoned or comatose in Salem's castle but was tortured into having dreams that are pleasant at first but right when Summer thinks everything is okay, it all goes to hell but it does that in an endless cycle of dreams. Kinda like how Dorothy, at the end of the Wizard of Oz woke up in her bed and everything was just a dream. When she does rejoin everyone, she doesn't trust any of them, thinking it could be another one of Salem's illusions or a dreams.

If I could like this video for every time I've viewed it, the likes would be in the tens of thousand already.

I love how part one was vaguely related to Ruby's past and family matters, and part two is just her being salty with her dead mom...

I'm coming back to this year's later. And I gotta say, the RWBY soundtrack is so good. Casey has amazing vocals, and I'm glad that I got to listen to this wonderful masterpiece. Also, we miss you, Monty. You created such a great series. 🥀

The way her voice can go so high is shocking to me. Such talent so early on.

I love how the first part is talking about ruby as "hope" even through, in the this picture, she's wearing a expression of emptiness and despair, more hopeless than her own fandom.

I'ma be real I don't even keep up with RWBY anymore, but I still love this track. The orchestral half that seamlessly ties into the metal section is absolutely unreal

One thing you can't deny about RWBY is it's amazing soundtrack which never ceases to amaze me.

RUBY NEEDS CHARACTER DEVELOPEMNT DAMMIT

A couple months ago I lost my mother and when I listened to this song I just felt sadness, and well lets just say this song encapsulated how I feel. I am thankful that this song was around when i lost her. Thank you

In most songs theres 1 powerfull verse that moves you and makes you feel something for the song... Red like roses part 1, the whole song is that powerfull verse. part 2 the lines that got me were "Red, like, roses fills my head, with dreams, and finds, me always, closer, to the empteiniss and sadness that has come to take the place, of you!" Because It shows how Ruby is still burdend by her mothers death and how much she misses her but the only thing the has in the place were her mother should be is emptieness and sadness. The other line was "Summer: Your not the only one who who needed me, I thought you understo_ Ruby: YOU WERE THE ONE I NEEDED AND YOU LEFT ME AS I ALLWAYS FEARED YOU WOULD! Summer: Would, I, change, it, if, I, could Ruby: IT DOESENT MATTER HOW!!! THE PETTELS SCATTER NOW!!! EVERY NIGHTMARE JUST DISCLOSES, ITS YOUR BLOOD THATS RED LIKE ROSES!!! and no matter what I do, nothing EVER TAKES THE PLACE OF YOU!". This line to me was the most powerfull line in the song because Ruby is absolutly right, Summer had a family, a daughter... She (even if she dident expect it) should have not risked her life like that. People needed Summer, but Ruby needed her more... she needed a mother. This also conferms that red like roses is refering to her mothers blood... now... Ruby's mother's blood is what fills her head and pulls her closer to emptieness and sadness. And finaly, No matter how hard she tries, no matter what she does nothing ever takes the place... of her mother. And the fact that Summer had nothing to say after that line shows... Rubys was absolutly right... Sorry for the rambel, and WOW my hand hurts.

Just wanted to say, this has got to be one of, if not, my absolute favorite song. Everything about it is just so perfect to me. How Part I epically builds ups to Part II. The extremely emotional and passionate lyrics, which are even better when you know the show’s story. The hard hitting yet nuanced instrumentals. And the fast paced and emphatic beat with equally emphatic rhyming lyrics (I know rhyming may seem like a small thing, but I feel some modern popular songs don’t really rhyme as hard so I appreciate it when I can). I just love to lie back, close my eyes, and play this song on full blast on my earphones, so I can try and soak in every detail of this song. The fainter instrumentals. How every word is enunciated. The emotion behind the lyrics. I love it all!!!!!!!!!!

I've been looking threw he comments and noticing everyone thinks was foreshadowing the deaths. When really, it's Ruby asking her mom why she did what she did to die. It's her trying to communicate with her mom. "If I could talk to you, if only for a minute." Her mom is trying to answer her, but, because she's dead, she can't. It hurts her to watch her daughter go through in becoming a huntress because she doesn't want her daughter to end up like she did. Ruby was so young when her mom died, she didn't know what happened, this is her asking her 'Why did you leave me?"
