The problem with the scope is that it looks like a screen pasted on the end of the scope instead of actual glass. When he turns the gun, you should see the inside of the scope but instead you see what the scope is looking at.
@Starshiptrooper420 it's like someone took a plate of top quality sashimi and deep fried it because he doesn't like the taste of raw fish, that's basically what's been done in this video.
@Kaffebonden00 saying the barrett sniper rifle doesnt make fucking sence. barrett sniper rifles are a range of 12.7mm sniper rifles. such as the XM107, M95, M82 and so forth.
Another thing I don't get is why people say quick-scoping is not realistic. I myself have a 1938 8MM Mauser, like the one used in this video. In real life it is not at all unheard of for a scoped rifle of this type to get quick shots off while aiming via scope in a life or death situation. You would've trained yourself to be quick in doing so, otherwise you would not survive the war as a sniper. Having a scope does not save you from an enemy popping up ten feet from you, so you must be prepared.
(Cont.) I am hardly a marksman or sharpshooter and I must say, it is actually somewhat smooth-flowing/easy to get "quick-scoping" shots once you get used to a particular movement of scope-to-eye after cycling the bolt. I use the Bindon Aiming Concept, which is also easy to get used to and to learn- eventually you just know where the crosshairs are going to land before you even finish raising the scope to your field of view.
@Thiiz usually if you go into a room or close quarters combat with a bolt action rifle of any kind, you would pull out your side arm (the nagant revolver in this game's case) but quick scoping works if thats your thing, no problem there.
Wow looks like an impressive game. It's nice how just the scope zooms and not the view around it :) (like other, low skill FPS games of which I don't mention the titles for various reasons)
@DRGBASTER it was germans speaking in english.. The oposite team always speaks in their native tongue but your team will speak english with a german or russian accent so you know what they are saying.
There is something special about ww2 games. Ofc it was a tragedy in history, but when it comes to the games they allways seem to capture the true, raw and brutal reality that was ww2. That combined with a good sense of gameplay, it ends up in a very fun yet realistic gaming experience! Red Orchestra looks amazing! So does the Brothers in Arms series, and (yeah!) CoD 1, 2 and 3 too. That was, ofc, before Modern Warfare began to rape the good 'ol CoD series.
I don't care if people quick scope or not, I just see absolutely no satisfaction in it, I want to take my time, Calmly place the reticle on the enemys head or upper torso, Pull the trigger and watch the bastard fall down like a sack of bricks through my scope. That is just the best feeling ever. Quickscoping is more of a show off kinda thing in my opinion. But what ever floats your boat
I don't mind so much that you're quickscoping as that you're quickscoping with the teams only sniper. It would be better to allow someone to utilize the effective range of the sniper while you "quickscoped" with a normal rifle (although the lack of a scope would change the name to "quick-ironsighting")
@HEADSHOTPROLOL That's just multiplayer, campaign is supposed to be the "realistic military experience." Otherwise you would never know you got a kill.
@capezproduction When the pro's are the admins from the server and a SNIPER CLAN, yes ;) I've some screenshots in Steam Cloud. The server was from SNIPE clan
looks perfectly fine to me. I saw nothing in this video that proves that the sniper rifle is just as accurate with quick-scoping as it is with normal use. ,
This isn't quickscoping. In fact, there have been a lot of riflemen in World War 2 that used scoped weaponry in this fashion. The quickscoping all of you are talking about is running around like an infantryman, barely entering your scope to squeeze the crosshair, then firing directly at the target. That isn't realistic and it shouldn't be. Red Orchestra tries very hard to be authentic and it kinda shows here.
the problem with quickscoping in this game is that its useless. in COD you have to quickscope to make the accuracy spike for a split second, in here, hip firing is always very accurate so long as you know what your doing, you dont need to quickscope
But consoles can run games like BF3 and GTA IV? Red Orchestra 2 doesn't have really big maps, or really complicated graphics. I think the reason it's not on console is because Red Orchestra started out on PC, and that's where most of their fans are. Tripwire doesn't have the money or the people to bring the game over to console, and even if they did there wouldn't be enough of a market to make it worth it.
What maps does it have that are really big? Unfortunately I only got this game in July, and the only populated servers I usually see are for Fallen Fighters, Apartments, and sometimes Mamayev Kurgan.
@onecheman this "ÍÍÍ" are there cause RO2 cant use the letter he has in his steam name. My name was totally fucked up in RO2 but not in steam and other games that could use it. :P
@ShufflerHD mind you, its not impossible to quickscope at all. Take a look at a soldier here on youtube who shoulder fires ("quickscope") the Barrett sniper rifle. Yeah, definately possible but as I said, it would not be effective at all as from a long distance perspective. If you're up close you could do the "quickscope", or shoulder fire as it is called in reality and just prey you might hit your target. If not, well, then your fucked.
@ganonforce No it requires patience, strategy, and intelligence. Naturally everyone wants to run and gun, it takes resolution to stay put and not just run around trying to count up kills.
Consoles could handle a game like this; they can handle games like BF3, which have much larger maps, better graphics, and destructible environments. The cover system could be used by the up or down button on the dpad. Up and down could also cover zeroing once you had aimed down sights. Leaning could be done with shoulder buttons. Syphon Filter: Logans Shadow had a similar cover system, and that game was on PSP.
Yes, thats actually very well thought out, very good thinking. But thats great that You can control the character just like on the PC but I don't believe consoles have the processing power capable to run such a game.
@capezproduction The point is: these clan is great sniping (and because the server is from they, they are the admins. Easy), for something they are a SNIPER CLAN!! And between the random people (not from the clan) they were some other respectful sirs of the sniping maps. That is all. No more words about theme. I've screenshots and you were not in these play for say "they were pros OR NOT"
@ganonforce have you ever played this game? Only one person per team gets a sniper. They are SUPPOSED to camp with it and help, not run around quickscoping like a 12 year old in CoD, this game is DESIGNED to be realistic. Checking ammo, changing barrels, realistic scopes, cover, suppression, ect., ect. Go back to CoD... obviously more people agree than not, look at all the dislikes.
Awesome game, snipers don't ruin it at all, and as far as I can tell, each map limits the teams to only 1 sniper pre round so its not like you'll have a server full of people quickscoping unless you join a sniper only server once the game is released and modded abit.
@LuciusCorneliusMacro I wasn't bitching, all I just said was that he was playing the game like if he was playing CoD. I never said if anything was bad.
So, you were saying that real sniper's goal is to make 360 no scopes and quick scopes, 5 meters away from the target ? If that's the case, go play battlefield 4, kiddo.
Look you don't like quickscoping in a realistic game fair enough but give him credit for his skill at it. I mean it's harder in this game than in others so you have to admit he did a good job
Surely you're not serious? Red Orchestra 2 started out as a mod on PC; that's where all it's fans are. Tripwire Interactive is a small studio, they probably don't have the man hours or the money to port this game to console, and even if they did, there probably isn't a big enough market to justify the cost. Activision has nothing to do with anything; do you really think they intervened with the processes of another studio.
So do you think it's a fun game? Just wondering cause i have been interested but my FPS background is COD/Battlefield, and this is way more realistic is it still fun?
Because activision doesn't want to try to get a small multiplayer game to enough notoriety to be noticed. It's a niche game, and niche games don't do well on console. Sad but true.
@Payback1991 The only reason why the speak English is so that people understand what's going on around them. They used native languages in their first game and I had no idea why they were screaming their heads off until I got sniped in the head.
@Thiiz Lol, you shouldn't even be able to quick scope. If he couldn't quick scope, he wouldn't be a sniper, and wouldn't search the building, with his sniper equipped. I think it's annoying that you can quick scope, because once you learn it, you can kill many people. It's actually a cheap way, getting kills. And quick scoping, makes it unrealistic, when the developers have done such good work, in making it so realistic.
Your field of view through the scope looks a lot better than mine in ro2, It's so much for me that the FOV through my scope is too big to fit on the whole screen, is there a way to change it do u know ?
I don't understand how there's any skill at all involved, i once watched a level 88 squad commander pick up a sniper and knock off a MG gunner 350 meters away that was a very impressive shot. You could do this just as easily with a bolt action. Go back to CoD, they appreciate quickscopers there.
Luckily this kind of performance will not work on the other maps. And what use is quick scoping ? It is much more satisfying to see the enemy dying through the scope lense. Quick scoping is the dumbest shit i've ever seen
