I'm at the 2023 International Harvester Red Power Roundup in Grand Island, Nebraska. In this first video, on day one of the show, I take a look around the grounds, meet some viewers, and find some unique tractors and implements.

Fun fact: I helped restore that F20 in the opening of the video, it was restored by the Four Rivers Career Center Night Shift program from Washington Missouri. When they got the tractor it came to them in boxes and pieces. It took about 3 years to complete the restoration and it was finished just a few months ago. Best part is it is still owned by the original family. Awesome to see it in Pete’s video!

Hey Pete I thought you might think this is a cool story. In 1937 my great grandfather bought a Farmall F20 which he farmed with for many years. In fact it was the first rubber wheeled tractor in that county. Anyways he later gave it too my uncle which later restored it and it’s still in our family to this day.

I have to tell you, the sound of the Farmall is very distinctive. Each time I hear one of the old Farmall tractors I can close my eyes and see my Grandfather. When I was about three years old, about 72 years ago, he would sit me on his knee while he harrowed. The sound of that "H" is burned into my brain.

I know exactly what you mean. I had a 460U for years and it was my most beloved tractor. When tilling at speed and under load in the spring time, the harmony of sounds it made was unlike any other! Cheers! Whipple

I used to have a 1962 Scout that I did a plow route with here in Western Ma. And spent many an hour on an old Farmall H -Haying mostly. mostly on shares with a lot of local farms. back when I was Dealing in Hay. (did that for about 20 yrs on and off) got to see a lot of farms all around New York, Vt Ma. Ct, and Canada. Just turned 80, and I miss those days. and the farms and farmers. I don't have to tell you what Farm People are like. Thanks for Sharing Pete. can't wait to see more. ECF

Thank you for videoing the show, Pete. I always liked the old school IH tractors from the first ones thru the late 60's thru the 70's before they merged with Case. The new ones are nice too but the old ones are special. However, I grew up on John Deere's. Dad started farming when he came home from Korea in 1953 and he actually farmed with Farmall's until he switched to John Deere in 1964 with a new 4020 Diesel. The last Farmall Dad had was either a 460 or 560 and he said the rear ends or axles kept breaking and so he got fed up and switched to JD. I was born in '58 and so I have a very faint memory of the 460 / 560. I remember all the John Deere's very well though as I was older by then. Take care and thanks again!

Gosh, Pete, this brought back some great memories. I have commented before that my brother and I had a cast iron Farmall pedal tractor. My brother probably got it in 1953 or 54 and then I inherited it in about 1959 when I was three. But what really struck me was my parents took my brother and me to the North Carolina state fair in 1965. We were getting ready to move from in town out to the country and we could not tear daddy away from all of the farm equipment. And I feel like right now that my dad, who died in 1999 and sitting here with me just going Omai goodness look at that just look at that just look at that. How poignant that we've just gotten through Father's Day and you've helped me connect with him. With tears flowing, Thank You.

Looks like a fun event. I have never owned an IH tractor but my Dad had a Scout. It was in pretty bad shape when he got it. It had been rolled. He had to weld the front differential as it had cracked in the accident and built new shock hangers for the front as well. It had a piece of plywood for the back window. He got it running and drove it for several years as his daily driver. It would go anywhere. In those days he bought what he could get, made it run, and drove it until it wouldn't go anymore. Money was tight.
