My theory is is simple. Irene asked the group to help her sew some clothes. She's waiting in the car. She asked joy to get them all bcs yermwennseul doing their own thing. Finally they get together and the dresses were completed. Everybody was happy!

you're probably not aware but the red thread has deeper meaning. In East Asian cultures a red rope linking two people is the symbol of the karmic relationship between two person, especially in a romantic sense. So Yeri cutting it meaning she actively breaks off the link with another person.
@marionedmarcueco4487
@marionedmarcueco4487 4 года назад
Yess it's true because in romance genre comics I always see a red thread to the main characters, it wraps around their fingers.when I looked it up it said that the red thread symbolizes the connection of two people in a romantic way. So I guess joy was trying to cut the thread so that the girls could snap out of it and realize that they are being manipulated but in the end Irene finds a way and it ends up being the winner and the one controlling the girls Oh my and I thougjt Psycho was about a toxic relationship 😂

I have an idea (quite a long one): Irene and Joy are the true psychos of this story. They're the ones in control. Irene is the head mastermind behind everything while Joy is her accomplice. That would explain why Joy and Irene seemed to be controlling everything in Zimzalabim. Also, when the girls are unconscious in the elevator in the Zimzalabim MV, Irene and Joy are the only ones who aren't trapped in this fake world. The Umpah Umpah MV is the fantasy the members are trapped in. At first, it seems happy and bright. However, it soon takes a turn which is shown by the weather drastically changing from sunny and warm to stormy and dark. It's all part of their plan. To make the members think that everything is going to be okay and as if nothing happened when they're in fact being hypnotized and controlled by Irene and Joy. In the Psycho MV, the song starts with Joy saying 'Psycho' which means she has taken control. Throughout the music video, you can see Joy helping the members and snapping them out of the trance Irene has placed them under. Seulgi also helps to free Yeri. During the scene where Seulgi is talking on the phone with Yeri, she says the words 'Babo Babo' which means 'fool/idiot' in Korean. This could mean that Seulgi is saying that Yeri needs to wake up and stop being a fool but soon, Joy cuts the cord. She could have done this is fear of Irene finding out about their plan to escape. However, Irene quickly finds out about their plan and traps them again. At the end, they all are dancing and running around as if nothing happened. That's because Irene could have erased their memories to make them forget about everything that happened so that they stay under her control forever. She also does this to Joy so that she will never be betrayed again. The song ends with Irene saying 'Psycho', reminding the girls who is in control and that they will never be able to escape. Another idea to support this is in the Psycho MV, Irene starts off with blue eyes but later on, her eyes change to black. The colour blue represents loyalty and wisdom. This shows Irene's trust for Joy in carrying out her plan. However, she realises how Joy betrayed her and ruined her plan and her eyes turn black. The colour black is associated with power, evil and aggression. This shows how infuriated Irene is by Joy and how she wants to take power back into her hand. Eventually, she does and the other girls remain in her clutches forever. Or do they?

@@stardust1643 yeah, I'm an EXO-L first and a Reveluv second (given that EXO debuted before RV that's all, and both have been my fav boy and girl group for a long time now) and I know that there are some theories about RV being the red force EXO are fighting, but tbh I don't think so SM would go as far as that, but it's always fun to read different theories especially between label mates nonetheless! Like I've been blessed with obsession and it's theories, and now that the reve festival trilogy is complete I can't wait to here it's theories as well :)

@bagel5056
@bagel5056 4 года назад
Thank you Bookish Theories for this wonderful explanation! It’s amazing as always. I was wondering if you would somehow explore a theory about Red Velvet being a part of the Red Force. It’s just a thought, but I find it interesting Psycho was released close to Obsession and it also appears to be about a darker side winning. Perhaps Red Velvet made the robot that stole Exo’s powers in Power bc Red Flavor was released close to Power (RF_05= Red Flavor and 5 members of Red Velvet). Plus we have all those themes of Red Velvet luring and killing men (perhaps Exo) Also I’d like to note that the butterfly is specifically a monarch butterfly and does appear in Exo’s Mama too Sorry for long comment, hust a thought because I feel like there are lots of connections ^^ Great video again!

In the end, they /running around laughing with the gowns they made, which means no matter what, they enjoy their songs and their concepts.

I love the music video. Also great analysis, I can't wait for part 2. I watched the mv again and noticed something. I don't know why but, the white dresses look like wedding dresses near the ending of the mv (they're just on hangers). And I've noticed a lot of other artist mvs have similar concepts of light and dark; the good vs the bad.

@@inkysonar1922 I didn't know that, that's interesting. I thought it was interesting that those dresses looked like wedding dresses; I mean they could just be any kind of white dresses. I watched another video of people reacting to the mv, they were talking about how the mv has to do with Alice Through the Looking Glass or something about that. When I first saw Zimzalabim, it kind of reminded me of Alice in Wonderland at the time I didn't know what the mv was about; like the part when the roller coaster ends in the teacup, them sitting in the teacup and a lot of the colors are vibrant.

could this song be describing Irene the ice queen and her battle against men lol kidding. i love this song. though i don't stan any girl group (ever) this song is the BEST song to end the decade. i also love the dark, dramatic concept of it. i think more girl groups should delve into this instead of the sweet, bubblegum themed music. nothing wrong with showing a dark, tempestuous side.
