Great video! I just checked my 1907s that I just bought last week and the welt is even as you mentioned it should be, along with the heel going straight down. I'll definitely check on future pairs though!

Redwing charge enough money for the boots to be quality controlled, handmade should not mean badly made. Imagine if all the artisan cobblers like yourself made boots, people would be tripping over to buy them ! Great job ...Peace ✌️

I noticed Redwings quality control went downhill right around when COVID started and are still have issues. Their still great boots and if you plan on buying some anytime soon just make sure you look over them before purchasing. I had to go to 4 different Redwing Stores before I finally made my purchase. Hopefully that sort their shit out there ASAP…

Hi Aron, I have a few questions. It looks like you put on two mid soles. Is that correct? Also, were those factory seconds? I know Red Wing factory seconds often have the stitching close to the edge like that. Last question, could you have re-used the original soles if the customer wanted? Thanks! Another great video!

Hi there!!! I don’t think they are seconds, I can’t prove it obviously, but I’ve seen this problem before and the boots were not seconds, I myself bought a pair of Rangers I paid $340 and they have the same issue is not the stitching It’s just that they’re sanding them to much . Yes I put both rubber and leather midsoles to make a contrast between the leather midsoles and the welt, and obviously because the costumer requested it😬 And no,couldn’t re use the soles even if I wanted to!!! The welt really makes the look of the boot - i've grown to love the contrast goodyear welt. It will be certainly easier to keep that outsole looking clean. What is the most cushioned, soft feeling outsole you can get for the red wing moc?

Great resole. What's the product you use on the welt? Is it a dye? I cleaned my RW Moc's with saddle soap and stripped the colour from the welt

@@utahnick good question. I asked a local cobblers/shoe repair. They said to keep applying a tan/darker brown polish to the this leather and the dye in the polish will gradually absorb in. So, I have and its worked a bit but not how I would really want it to. I'd choose a better product to use if I could

Hey Aaron! I'm waiting for my pair of 1907, and I have a couple of questions about this recraft! - would it be possible, in your opinion, to have this boot rewelted but still preserve that double stitched look as in the original welt? Your work looks awesome, but it only shows one row of stitches on the outside! - is that a shank under the cork at 3:13?? I thought Red Wing's moc boots came without any shanks, so if you could confirm this it would make me even happier with my purchase. Thanks, and keep up the good work!! 🤗🤗

Red wing Moc toes never come with shanks You’re confusing storm welt with a split welt, 1907’s have a split welt, there’s a big difference between them.

@@GabrielMisfire I don’t know the exact name of it,but that’s a sticker chip/barcode Shanks are placed all the way back, some people and even redwing calls it (Storm Welt) but if you ask any cobbler would say , that’s a split welt about second row of stitching that’s what we call fake stitching and is just for looks, real Norwegian welt is sewn trough the uppers, BTW we can do de second row of stitching on a split welt, before we replace it, but it has an extra charge because is a bit complicated Thanks for watching!🙏

Oh, boy ... sure hope he bought these as 'seconds' or at a discount. For Red Wing, that is really embarrassing. And those are part of the Heritage Line, so it means they were made right here in Minnesota. Just got my new 1907's in May, the copper rough and tough. Way too dark for my taste, so gave 'em three good scrubs with saddle soap, then Fiebing's degreaser, and went to work with 3 coats of Fiebing's light brown so they look like the old school 875's/1907's. Red Wing should contact you and ask for tips on quality work!!

Thanks Bryce, is just the quality control, everything else is good, I bought a pair of Rangers $340 and they have the same problem they wen to close on the sanding process, I didn’t complain cause I’m going to re-craft them, but is not good for costumers, I’ve seen that problem a lot on Thorogood 🤷🏻‍♂️ But is always good to check that out when buying boots, like I said it saves money 💰 Thanks For watching sir!!!
