You messed around out in the Chaz and got you a Slam! Some big ole hog bodies. And a Double fanger speckled trout! Nice! And a Beautiful sunset to go with it . . Have a great weekend Wes!
Thanks Ryan!! You gotta be willing to move around in the Refuge because the fish are always on the move and with the amount of territory I'm use to fishing there's so many spots to flip it's impossible to run out places to try in a month if I fished everyday......Enjoy your week!!
Thanks Rande!! I have confidence to find the Snook and Redfish but the Trout population has been decimated from my standpoint.....The species is just not here anymore and this species is the puzzle piece that is the hardest to find for me.....I know where they should be but to waste hours searching for this one species is a waste of my time.....There was a time many moons ago this was the easiest critter to find.....With about 50 sq. miles to run I takes me a full 3 days to to cover the territory to my liking.....I've never fished an area that is this complicated other than the Glades!!
TOTWF.....Thanks!! It's usually pretty comfortable before dawn and near sunset....Just my kind of day on the salt!! You should have seen the storm out here Friday night......It's what you don't want to get stuck in on the water.....LOL!!
Thanks Dave!! Sometimes I have to work to find 3 game species and other days the critters are just waiting for me to show up......LOL....Enjoy your weekend!!
Thanks Marc!! As long as the shoulder stays attached it's hard to keep me out of the creeks.....I wonder if folks think I'm diving under the bridges around here....LOL!! If Grouper season were open I'd be offshore....Sometimes I wonder why I have 2 boats anymore!!
Thanks!! I'm not defying it..... I'm getting my butt kicked big time.....I feel these trips when I get back home.....I'm dressed to the T and these long clothes make these trips a sauna on the water....It's hard to say no when you're catching quality fish!!
@@WesLovelace I've always wondered if all those long clothes worked for the heat...The Saudis wear white sheets head to toe...I've always just worn shorts Tshirt and a wide brimmed hat and shades... ..course a dip in the water or a bucketful over the head works! ..
@@fishnski9211 Down here the sun's intensity is magnified because of the sun's reflection on the water.....I've been plagued with Solar Keratosis for years which is pre-cancerous and can be removed by freezing the affected area but I've also had 2 cancerous basal cells cut off my face so for the last 10+ years I'm dressed from top to bottom and doused in sunscreen.....The cancer I don't want to hear is Melanoma!!😎
@@WesLovelacewas out last Saturday and it was very HOT! Caught reds and trout early.nothing after 10 am. Road back up Weeki Wachee and jumped in the spring water.
@@leechaney3703 I was doing pretty good during the idle of the day but that came to a screechin' halt on the last trip so I'll go back to the early and late show.....LOL!!
Thanks EA!! The Snook and Redfish tend to hang in most of the places I'm flippin' it's the once extremely plentiful Trout that is extremely difficult for me.....Use to be I could run to PIB or Wall and catch limits in the summer flippin' a top water....Even the winter bite in Fish and Haulover were easy.....Not anymore....If I can find the Trout the hardest part of my trip looking for that slam is in the rear view mirror.....Sea Ya!!
Thanks J !! My PB is 34".....Caught with the R/R setup I'm currently using......Shimano 3000 FE with 10 lb. Ande Tourney Green Mono and 30 lb. Tourney Green Mono Leader mounted on a 6 ft. Kunnan Graphite Rod. On all the new lures right out the package the trebles are replaced with 4X VMC Trebles .....I currently use either No.4's or 6's depending on lure size.....These trebles don't bend.....A few weeks ago a UTuber lost a big Redfish on a brand new suspending twitcher.....Every hook was bent.....I cut and replaced both trebles.....No fish were lost after that due to garbage hooks.....LOL!!😎
Thanks George!! Sure is and it involves the tides!! Exploring requires 3.2 to 3.5 high tides and this is how I know every twist and turn and water depth!! This the way I fish from the outside to the back country utilizing big water but also waiting until the tides go slack in the creeks.....These big tides push a lot of water from the outer islands right up to the timber line and the time differential from outside slack to inside slack is about 2 hours. I try to fish the slack tides everywhere I go!! Now I have offered to show my path into Wall Bay many times.....I have yet to be taken up on my offer!! Realize that this coastal bottom structure will destroy your lower unit and I know of plenty of examples to fall back on!! I can scare the hell out of most anybody up there but if you can pick a time I can show up what I consider the safest route to travel.....After that It's all exploration around the bay edges and the creeks.....And that's with the understanding the bottom is very much alive and unless you take it slow you will incur damage.....If you check the tables I can show you but I want you to be able to get there without damage and a big tide is the only way to do this.....Let me know!!
Thanks Wes, I appreciate you getting back to me. I will definitely be doing my homework. The information that you have provided already will be very helpful and I may take you up on your offer. Thank you again and I will reach out to you in the near future.
