Jesus! I’ve been waiting to find you on social media. Can you answer a burning question? How did you reach all those people back in the day without a microphone? 😃
I lived in the land of the midnight sun for a few years as a girl. My Dad was in sea rescue in the Coast Guard! We lived in Kodiak. Fresh berries every day and drinking cool spring water! Great memories! I just love your videos. God bless you 🥰
@@arcticcat7142 summers must be awesome up there. I get alot of rain here in Oregon. Any strange noises or see any hairy men??? Have a great week and be safe.
"This back window needs to be replaced." "This winshield is cracked, it's still got a life left to it." You crack me up. I love your channel. It's funny, I just spent $500 for a 2001 2wd 4runner, did some engine updates and took the back seats out and just yesterday, threw a bed in the back and camped out in it. I will say, July in TX is a bit brutal for camping without a fan of some kind at night. Good stuff in this video, very inspiring! You need your own Discovery Channel show. You have a lot of "living" the outdoor life. Good stuff!!
Great van. Has good potential. Rear window just unbolts. The fuel gauge just might be a bad ground. Get some led lights from dollar store 2 use at night....any bears or wolves around???
@@rsprockets7846 It's Alaska. Of course there are bear and Wolves around! ... I'm not a bear hunter, preferring Moose, Caribou, Bison and Dall Sheep. ... There are so many Black Bear in Alaska that there's no closed season on hunting them - and no limit on the number harvested. The only restriction is you can't take a sow with cubs. Grizzly hunting permit is by a lottery drawing in most of the game management units (often the size of states in the lower 48, as Alaska has more than twice the area of Texas). A non-resident needs a registered guide to hunt Grizzly, but a non-resident can take Black Bear without a guide.
@@rsprockets7846 Alaska is not fun for the timid or the faint of heart. .... I recommend Florida or southern California for you. Also, I recommend you never leave the safety of a big city and that you never venture outside at night. ... Just kidding, Have a great life, my friend.
I've been watching Brooke and Dave for along time. Brooke taught me how to buy land and what to look for. So I bought 5 acres in northern Wisconsin because I don't like camp ground. Now I am in the process of buying a van. I just want to Thank you Brooke.
I remember in Juneau, back in the early 80s . They salted the roads. Lots of trucks running around with rusted out fenders flapping in the wind. I do miss those late evenings that were sunny .
When your pad goes flat again, inflate the canoe to the best thickness, place it upside down in the van and nighty night! Looks like you had a good time anyways.
The company that goes back to old school vehicles would have no problem getting customers. No touchy easily broken computers, shade tree repairs, durable, etc., a family friend who was a mechanic complained constantly about the changes in cars that made then more fragile, harder and more expensive to repair. Loved my time in Alaska. The flip side of all that summer light is the winter darkness, but that's good too. Ice skating at night with the brilliant aurora borealis adorning the sky, bitter cold but special.
I was just talking with someone the other day who was driving her uncles 1969 Camaro. She asked "why don't they make cars like this anymore." I told her, because the auto manufactures don't want people driving the same car for 40 or 50 years when they can build cars that will only last 4 or 5 years, at best, and you have to buy a new one. We live in a disposable world and products are built on purpose to break quickly. Even if the car is assembled in America, most of the parts, especially the fragile electronics, are all made in China, who don't seem to have any quality control on anything they make. In addition they've made new cars require special tools that they only give to the dealerships, mechanics can't even get those tools. So you're forced to take your fragile car to a dealership. And to make sure you can't fix it yourself, here in Commiefornia it's "illegal" to work on your own car in your yard. Shade tree mechanics are a thing of the past. Corporate greed has prevailed.
@@DFDuck55 You're right. A relative was the kind of mechanic that could fix anything, people all around would come to him if they needed help with any vehicle, lawn mower, etc. Tough old Vietnam vet, self-reliant and knew tricks of repair next to no one else knew. When I was growing up engines were getting so squished his big hands had trouble getting to places for simple repairs. He said too many things that were once easy fixes requires practically tearing an engine apart to reach. When I was old enough, being female, my hands could get to some of the places. I learned a lot listening to him, helping where ever I could. All of that is getting lost now, we have a sea of over aged babies who can't get off the phone and barely know how to wipe their rears. They're probably waiting for a high tech toilet to do it for them. I'm a firm believer every nation's basic manufacturing and food production should home based. However, it's so bad now just saying that could get this comment removed as many of mine have been.
@@DFDuck55 it's definitely a sad state we're in...greed is like rust eating away the world...once greed takes hold, it wont let go...it just grows and spreads out. It's a true shame, because greed hurts everyone that it touches.
What a pure JOY! This is so me. Van camping, kayak fishing, cooking out. YES! My son has an inflatable and he loves it. I have an Old Town Sportsman 106 kayak. Be Well, Be Safe, Be Gloriously Happy!
There is this guy named Dave who likes working on cheap wheels, I am sure if you whispered in his ear (or offered him cake) he could fix that gas gauge for you (and probably make a video of it for your records). Thanks for sharing.
That's the word for it too ...simply gorgeous that being that beautiful lake with deep green evergreens for a backdrop! Catching rainbow trout on said lake in wild , wonderful, magical , mystical Alaska!? It looks to be the BOMB!!
I named my van Grace, because it is only by the grace of God that I ever get from point A to point B because I am a deaf Grandma who is directionally challenged.
Someone needs to tell the Cheap Wheels guy to help her with the ford!. He will come by, and fix it up rather quickly.... and we will get to see a video out of it! Bless
Go for it and redo the van brooke.. i wish i could get my hands on a good van and redo it..about now living in a van down by the river is looking pretty darn good.
I graduated high school in 1979, I remember those rollup windows how easily we forget, as well as no AC 🥵. I remember many of her trips as a little kid to Wisconsin and Michigan grew up in Chicago. Loving your videos you go girl that is one awesome Van!
I hear ya girl. My wife and I have the same gripe with campers bringing the house, tv, radios, generators and all that. We want to here crickets not someone's stereo. We stopped going to campgrounds. We bought a wooded property & we camp there.
Try the fuse for the horn& other things 🤷🏻♀️ most of the time it’s a easy fix..🤷🏻♀️ I love older trucks and vans like that! Beautiful view of the lake !
I cannot express how much your videos mean to me. I shared this one with my husband. He often talks about how he wants a 4x4 van. He likes fixer-uppers. Your videos have helped me find joy in becoming an empty nester. Thank you Brooke.
Wow that's one gorgeous lake man , and with that backdrop of that large deep green pine covered hill ; equally gorgeous. And that inflatable kayak! ,(I'll bet it's loads of fun!) ..And the garlic, & onion stuffed ,Alaskan Rainbow trout, tinfoil wrapped roasted on campfire amber's !!?? YUM!!! The Bomb even! Wow, wow. wow.
Man alive , M.K. ; I don't think you can go wrong with fresh trout ,(or blue gills, pike, pickerel, or even catfish for that matter,) caught out of a nature kissed, pristine clean, & crystal clear lake in mama Alaska ....Yum, yum!..I want some fresh fish for din din!! Yeah good.
@John Bennett Hey Man?! Set an extra space at the table for me please!!! I LOVE Flounder,Cod,Had dock!! Can't get it here in anywhere near me in Iowa that I know unless its the frozen sponge squares @Wally world or similar groceries! :-(..... 🐟
I worked all day in the ER seeing Covid patients and I come home to see a new Video. I love your van and I want to get one and camp. I love the cap too. send it my way when you get tired of it.
Thanks Dr Beth for your work. Brooke is a respite from the Covid mayhem. Go to her past vids and sit by the fire with her. She always gives you the first bite❤️❤️. You deserve it❤️❤️❤️
We absolutely loved it my wife and I were watching it during and when you said I need ibuprofen we spit our Watermelon out of our mouth. good video. Thank you for the blessing in the prayer. My God continued to guide and direct you both. Pastor Dean and his lovely wife April. We have something in common.
Thank you Brooke for taking us with you💚🙏⚡️ What adventures-what a great life-to live simply, soaking in and appreciating Gods beauty. I’m not able to actually be in nature like I desire right now in my life; but through your videos, God blesses me with the feeling that I’m there⚡️🙏💚
Work your life is so incredible. I wish my brain was wired like yours, however it's not. I could never do what you do. For me the safety of home comment is all I can handle. But I love living life through you thank you
@P A oh thank you so much that's so sweet of you. I do live in a gated apartment building. But I do have a lake right outside my door just about and a big pool . That's probably as close as I'm ever going to get. But thank you thank you so much
Brooke, you crack me up all the time. I love your personality. You’re such a good, loving, person. Be safe, sweet girl. Alaska is truly the most incredible place. Such majesty. ♥️❣️🙏🏼❣️♥️
Your grace brought tears to my eyes. You included US, your viewers, into your prayer of gratitude. How amazing was that! I speak for many when I say we are grateful for you , too, Brooke. 🥰
OMGosh! I had a van exactly like yours many years ago. I have the spare tire rack for the rear door if you want it. I live in tricities Michigan and not opposed to a northern drive. Love your channel and Bushy’s too. Keep doin. Ed
Them Van's, they are a multiplying!!! Everybody's got one except me, still sittin in my lil studio apt...watching the world drive by in their VANS!!! I'm so jealous!!! ...but you see, I don't drive, so a van would be impractical for me...guess I'll have to live vicariously through all you van life folks!!!...carry on and enjoy it to the max, multiplied by two to cover my share. Lol...thanks a bunch!!!
Great to see you! That trip sounds so fun and peaceful and a closeness to our Creator like no other! Thank you for sharing your life with us! I appreciate you Brooke! Blessings from your friend in Oregon, Trina
Nice old van, I am with you if i don’t see people that’s all good, generators unless you are on your own should be banned. Thanks for sharing stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hello from Oklahoma! Great video! Being an old mechanic, 42 years, I covet the "Iron Blueberry"! They don't make them like that anymore. That van sits on a truck frame. A much better platform than the unibody construction used today. Also, the V8 engine with the truck drive train rear wheel drive, will last and can be maintained. I'm sorry your inflatable mattress wouldn't stay inflated. Maybe you shoulda used the floor insert from you inflatable kayak. Just an idea. Years ago I had an old forestry suburban. I slept in that thing while on hunting and fishing trips many times. I used a Thermarest, These days they call the model I have a Mondoking 3D. Back when I got mine it was just the extra large pad. Anyway I'm rambling, Thanks for all you Do! This old man loves watching your crazy adventures. Love The Yukon! Thanks for all you Do! God Bless!
Appreciate your special brand of humor. Been hunting for an "old school" van like that. No degree to repair is needed. How's the sketters treating you? It'd be challenging for me to get much sleep up there.😎 Be safe!😊
I have a 1980 Ford econoline150 in the same blue with also a broken gaz gauge , paid her 1000$ and it’s been four summers of fun with that old trusted friend . She goes for hibernation every winter in a sheltered place.
This. Plus people use batterie powered noisy tools and stuff. If you're not willing to inflate your matress with muscle ir lungth power you might not be eligable for camping.
Inspiration, thats what you gave me. I went out bought me a tent, sleeping bag,8 dollar fishing pole with string included, and some other cheap stuff. Going in November because its Florida. Taking friends on my journey. Here in Fla. We do crabbing, shrimping, watch launches, fishing. My fellow employees are so jealous. I am so excited. Good ol inspiration. Thank You.
