REDODO sent me a 2000w pure sine wave inverter to review. I seriously didn't hold back on the review. It powered a table saw, heat gun on high and a 1500w portable heater on high all at the same time! Crazy!

Thank you for the video! It's too bad you couldn't reach the surge capacity, but it was an amazing run at it. The inverter seemed to be able to handle a lot.

Exactly the sort of review I was looking for. Thank You! I'd been planning on putting a 1000 or 1500W inverter in my car for camping and occasionally running an extension cord to the fridge during a power outage when not feeling like running the house backup generator that guzzles gasoline or propane. The standby power usage of some inverters can get pretty high, but this is in the same league as the lowest-draw 1000W pure sine inverter that I've found. So, I figure, I'll just spring for bigger wire and be able to start power tools as needed. I won't need to do that often, but when I need to, I really need to. I think I'll grab one of these. The white doesn't match my stealth needs for installing it in a visible location, so either I'll find an invisible location or repaint the metal case. I'm familiar with the brand's LiFePO4 batteries, and think the company has a really good reputation. So when they chose an inverter supplier, they probably cared more about quality to preserve their reputation, than corner-cutting on cost. LiTime (formerly Ampere Time) sells what is very obviously the same inverter under their own brand at quite a bit higher price, and they equally have a reputation to protect for their very large battery business. Either brand could have had any inverter factory jumping at the chance to supply them. It saves us from having to figure out what inverters are actually made in what factories, because these battery brands have already done that legwork for us, and are basically trying to supply great inverters in order to sell people on the idea of buying more batteries.

The inverter did well but I dont think you can surge the full 4000 watts when already drawing near its full constant power rating with the heat gun and heater running. You can hear how slow the table saw starts up versus when it was on it's own as proof the inverter is more stressed under load. Surge should happen fast to get the most out of it. I think it would surge closer to 4000 watts if you had something that would do that on start up with nothing else connected. Nice inverter though. I wonder how it compares longevity wise to the premium brands like Dometic Go Power and Victron.

I have 2 questions. If I wanted to charge my delta 2 off a 12V Lithium battery could I use an inverter to charge it fast at 1200W? Kind of new to all this stuff. Second question is are lithium 12V batteries regulated like the 12V cigarette port on my EcoFlow? Thank you I'm a new subscriber because you break things down to where I can understand and enjoy the information you share.
@OffGridBasement
@OffGridBasement 8 месяцев назад
A 100ah lithium battery usually has a max discharge rate of around 1200w so you would be pushing it. It is possible though. You are limited to the input speed as well. Can it do 1200w? Lithium batteries are not regulated, but their discharge curve is very flat so the voltage drop is pretty slow. Hope this helps!

Excellent video. QUESTION; The battery companies don’t even recommend connecting different amp hour batteries together, but you are with no issues. What are your thoughts on all that? Also, could you contact Redodo and see if they will make a 3 000 watt inverter in this style, stand alone case, so I can use it for my portable power supply? Maybe since you have a presence on RU-vid and have tested their products publicly. Thanks
@OffGridBasement
@OffGridBasement 3 месяца назад
I've made multiple videos in parallel connecting different size batteries. The only issues would be getting all the way to 14.6v and down to 10v. Also. Make sure to know the BMS limits of the smallest battery as well. Also, don't connect in series. You will only get the capacity of the smallest battery. I'll check with Redodo about different size inverters. Thanks for the comment.

@johndesousa7379 6 месяцев назад
I wonder if the reason you couldn't get the amperage draw was because you had only 1 battery hooked up. The battery simply couldn't produce enough power. Also shouldn't you be reading the output side instead?
@OffGridBasement
@OffGridBasement 5 месяцев назад
When I only had one battery connected I was just testing to make sure the inverter could run @ 50% for 10 minutes. The output side is the power after conversion losses. I believe I calculated it to be around a 15% loss @ 50% power.

What is the VAC output? I can't find anyone testing the VAC output. I bought a cheapo, W & A all looked normal. The built in V meter showed 114 and never changed regardless of load. Turns out, at 50% load the VAC dropped to 109. Unacceptable. Can it handle the rating? I say VAC out is a BIG part of it. Sadness.
@OffGridBasement
@OffGridBasement 10 месяцев назад
My meter shows 112v on standby and 110.8v under load. I used 200w, 600w, 900w and 1300w as loads. Hope that gives you more insight. Thanks for the comment.

battery sag .. lots of amp load on 12v.. 24v you'll be fine but impressive for that... you push the limits on this. 12v 2000w would be more ideal for smaller stuff that going to be used constantly in a smaller loads light lights solder iron small heaters on low charging phones laptops running fans small fridge ect.... when your heat gun was on high and you turned on your saw you can see the heat gun heat glow die off just seconds once you applied a heavy load that's not really meant to be used for but it handle it for a bit

I have a 1500W inverter (Excelvan brand) Mine has output but if I plug in anything above that uses 600 watts it shuts itself down and the fault light comes on. No blown fuses or anything, If I cycle it off/on its good to go, until I try to plug in or turn something on that uses a lot of watts (i.e. like a small a 600 watt heater) Anyone have any idea what is going on? I used to be able to run things like a table saw or a small AC unit off of this thing before! Now I'm lucky to have a box fan and laptop working. Any ideas?
@OffGridBasement

It sounds like you might have blown a capacitor. Open up the top and look for anything that looks burnt or bulging. Good luck.

This inverter may seem to run everything fine when it's new, but give it a few months of running inductive loads and I guarantee you this low cost, high frequency, transformerless inverter will become a brick and can even damage your appliances by passing high voltage, high amperage, DC current to your loads. High frequency, output transformer free inverters are not designed to run inductive loads like microwave ovens, large power tools, portable AC units or motors. You may be able to start and run some of these loads when this unit is new, but every time you do, you're damaging the cheap Chinese made MOSFETs and capacitors in these inverters. I've spent the past 23 years in the inverter repair industry and can tell you from experience that no high frequency inverter exists on the market will last more than a year when exposed to high inductance loads. If you want an inverter that's going to last 8 tob10 years+, then spend some more money and invest in a low frequency, transformer based inverter.

I purchased the Krieger 2000W PSW inverter from Amazon for almost $300.. It is part of a 300W emergency solar backup system with 2 Redodo 100AH batteries. I have had no power outages yet so I have never had to connect it to any household appliances. I only turn it on 2 times a week to charge power tool batteries, flash light and some 18650 batteries. The unit is basically on standby. It is only 13 months old. I turned it on today, it blinked, the fan made its usual whirring noise and then it just shut down and died. Won't turn on. It's getting power to the terminals. Batteries are at 14.30. I am super disappointed in the quality of the Krieger unit that has NEVER even been put through its paces. Currently waiting for a replacement from the distributor. I'd like to take the cover off of it to see what happened but it would void the warranty.

That's a bummer. Battery voltage is a bit high, but that shouldn't cause any issues. Hope you don't have any issues sending it back.
