@@minyo80 one time my regular person was backed up so one of the others saw me for a pedicure. My toes have never been ingrown, but the first thing she did was snip and rip the side of the big toenail causing me to jump and it to bleed. I'm not a violent person, but almost became one! Man it hurt!
I'm a veteran nail tech (24yrs this year) and I am so tired of seeing people pay big dollars for rubbish nails. I do infills on people who've had acrylic done at those high-volume, fast-turnout places, and the product is always VERY thick, and takes me twice as long to file down so I can infill. I've started teaching ladies how to do their own nails because the fact is; people will do their own nails at home. They may as well be choosing the correct products and doing it properly.
If they did damaged the nails it's better to remove only the lifting parts and choose an infill because your nail beds shouldn't be filed again so you have to minimize the work done on them during a few months.
I've lived all over the US and I have to say, most nail salons are incredibly disappointing. I didn't even get extensions this last time, just a simple polish and she still managed to mess up my nails so badly I swore to never again go to a nail salon. So I'm getting my Nail Tech certification by the end of the year in the state of SC 🙏
Good for you. I did the same, I was tired of paying a lot of money and getting bad work done. I learned myself with full cover soft gel extensions, and they work great.
I live in North Carolina and I can say I’ve never been to a nail salon that does good enough. I always left with product on my fingers like you showed there’s been a few times my nails were too sore to even use my hands correctly for daily tasks and they never have what I go in there wanting. I’ve always wanted to try having nails done with the foil liner and strictly acrylic (no artificial nails underneath) but no place in NC I know of does it like that. They all use artificial nails then layer the acrylic or gel on top. 🤦🏼♀️ I’ve done SNS nails which again they use the artificial nails for. They’re not so clean and since I moved almost into Virginia the nail salons here over charge and they don’t do good at all nor have anything I want as far as color choices or the acrylic nails like I described I wanted above. I have just been buying glue on nails to wear whenever I want my nails done instead of wasting money on a terrible nail salon visit. I’ve thought about getting another mail kit and practice doing my nails again. I tried before and wasn’t as successful and didn’t have a well ventilated area to do them so that’s kinda my issue still in a way but I love all the tips you give on your channel. ❤❤❤❤
Yes it’s called sculpted nails! I have wanted the same in east TN and in West Virginia there is NO place that does that. I’ve looked for several years for someone that can do sculpted nails and i haven’t had any luck either !
You’re at the right place!! RU-vid university is what I call it!! To teach you anything!! Save your coins and do your own!! I know a really good tech (well I follow) in Virginia! What part are you in?
I think you are like one of the best nail techs ever. You seriously worked miracles on that god-awful set that that woman did on you. Oh I feel so bad for you. You seriously went through some nail torture. That salon shouldn't even be open for business. Like who in the right mind would go there. I wish I knew the name of the company. I'm not trying to be mean I just like would totally love to warn people of like hey this is what you will get from this nail salon if you go there. I hope you shared the name and like make sure people don't waste money
Bad service is why I now refuse to give my money to nail salons. Very difficult to find skilled technicians. You could never point out anything you think should be fixed. They’ll blame the shape of your nails🙄
This is why I do my nails at home. I used to have an amazing independent nail tech but she stopped doing nails. I went to another tech and it cost over $100 for a (high quality) gel mani. I refuse to go to these cheap spots. So I bought all the stuff to do it myself, and I’m trying press ons. Just not worth the energy.
I don’t know if it’s like this everywhere. But I’m North Carolina I feel like it’s pretty difficult to find good nail salons. Every time I gotten nails done out of state I’m like “wow this is great I’m going to start doing this all the time” and when I get back I remember why I don’t get them done. I’m curious if I’m unlucky or if the state’s license requirements just aren’t getting things done properly.
Oh no lol I live in Raleigh NC! I do my own with just a little BIAB on my natural nails, but now I'm second guessing where I go when I do get them done Lol
Honey, I’m 14 and I do way better than that, never have stuff on my skin, it bugs me so much. The profile of those nails are wayyyy not great 😅. I’m glad you fixed them! They look way nicer now!❤️
I did better than this for my very first polygel manicure I did on my mom (the best guinea pig!💜). Honestly! That salon owner is lucky her shop is not in NYC or it would have gone out of business a looong time ago!
How do find a good nail tech? I don't live in a big city and I have been to several salons and none of them come even close to following the same steps you do.
You should see the nasty work stations in our walmart nail salon in southern Indiana! They are the nastiest nail tables I've ever seen!!! Literally thick white dust lays around the peremeter of all their desks. The dust is everywhere. They leave it there all night then go back to work without cleaning the tables. I'm gonna call the health department on them cause it's that bad. It's so nasty! But the only reason I went to Walmart's nail salon was bc it was right before Christmas and my regular nail tech is on the other side of town and they were only doing appointment only at the time so I had too. My hands never touched the work desk. And she kept leaving and coming back very annoying. After I waited an hour! Then she charged me 50 bucks for a basic acrylic short French tip when she did it in 30 minutes. When my regular nail tech only charges me $35 for the same thing. It's ridiculous. Asian or whatever Nail techs need to stop trying to tap into our tipping culture. We tip food workers ONLY because they'reIYERALLY ONLY PAID 2 BUCKS AN HOUR but yet these nail techs are making 60 to 100 dollars every hour and they want a damn tip! Um no ya greedy fools. I refuse to tip a nail tech after they've done a basic French tip. Ugh nail techs need to stop trying to squeeze their way into America's tipping culture!! You make way more than 2 buck an hour!!!! 60 to 100 dollars an hour means NO TIP FOR YOU! It's not our problem if your boss is greedy either!
I hate to say it, but that is always how my nails looked after leaving the salons in Canada 🇨🇦 My nails are always sore and burning when under the lamp. Everything is rushed AF as it's all about quantity, not quality. I suffered an injury during a pedicure over 10 years ago and now need surgery. Needless to say, I don't visit salons and I don't waste my time or money anymore.
That's pretty sad. I never went to school, I learned everything from you and other youtubers. I would be EMBARRASSED if my nails turned out like that. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging people for that. Just out of curiosity how much was the full set?
Went to a nail salon got a fungus that 20 yrs ago. Now if I put nail polish on my fungus comes back. Doctors told me once you have a fungus it always comes back meds a to dangerous for the kidney's. Now I haven't worn any polish for yrs. Sad. Morel of the story bring your own utensils.
You said your nails hurt, was it from the length or an allergy to a product? I just started doing my own nails after years of going to the nail salon, but I went to urgent care yesterday and found out I'm allergic to anything that needs to be cured under a UV lamp :
Ur at Asian nail salon in NC truth is this 90% salon r just like this u can pay more money for basic service and basic nails and pay a lot more for spa service but this isn’t most likely ur from Europe right I saw u did videos on Russian manicures etc we have nothing like that here
I don’t think they look bad imo .. your cuticles look a little red (not sure if they clipped you) and the cuticles have a little product on them but they don’t look bad
I know they were shown quickly so it's easy to miss but they were lumpy - in the profile it looked particularly obvious. Also, the side walls were not smooth (also visible in profile). Overfiled. I don't think the apex was high enough. Either that or the nail is too thick or both lol. The design concept was pretty though. Id be pretty upset and disappointed to have paid for that. It looks like someone was just starting out with learning.
I hate it when they glued tips, I got a horrible allergic reaction to the glue they looked bumpy and thick horrible nails And charged me $140 they only last me one week NEVER AGAIN.
These look like my nails I do at home... if a professionals work looks like an amateurs who's only done 5 sets on themselves then she shouldn't be doing anyone's nails 😅
