Notice that Yellow didn't actually write anything for TSC and Green's builds, meaning that he had already ruled them out even before he decided. As people have pointed out Green and TSC were never taught how to use maps, and anything else they used either. This means they most likely cheated. Blue's was useful but inconvinient and only used one piston, relying on water physics more than redstone. Red used most of what was taught and was very diverse, as well as convinient and useful.

Yellow is just that one teacher that has the best projects, enjoys their job, and actually teaches the subject. Yes, they might be strict sometimes, but it just shows that they care about the students and want them to learn.

Red deserved this win because as cool as Blue's invention was, it was more reliant upon water physics than Redstone. And the video games made by Orange and Green were ridiculously complex and far exceeded the lesson that Yellow taught, making me suspect they got outside help maybe from instructions or usage of a command block.

I like how during the lessons, besides the basics, the different sticks actually take notes on different things, noting things they find interesting & not just constantly scribbling. It's best shown from 1:32 - 1:38 during the Observers lesson, where Red & Green takes note on the flower, Orange (+ a nod from Blue) for the brewing stand, Blue (+ a nod from Red) for the item display, and Red (+ a nod from Green) for the fire. It happens in other scenes too, and it's such a nice touch!

Of course Red won, not because his name has red in Redstone, but because his invention is very clever

If you know Yellow, he would care about how you use Redstone and what you want to do with it, not just using it to show how smart you are. Red used the technology for a legitimate need. Washing off dirt with soap and water quickly and automatically, saving you time and frustration of giving a bath to a dirty animal, or making your own bath really fun. Blue's invention was honestly a waste of mechanisms. You can fill the cauldron itself with water and drop an armful of ingredients in it fine without needing whatever the heck he made. Yellow would definitely see the whole thing as pointless. As for Green and Orange, I have a feeling he looked at their displays and thought. "Wow. A simulation of stuff we already do every day in Minecraft. And it's slow and janky." Also pointless and an obvious bid to be the smartest in the room, which he wasn't actually looking for.

Yellow never taught them anything about outputting to a map, so orange and green either cheated or at least looked up other stuff. Blue's really just moves one piston. I'm pretty sure that's why red won. It used multiple things from the lessons, wasn't absurdly beyond what was taught, and you could mostly see how it worked.

I'm sure someone else has already said this but I love how this video can actually teach you how to use redstone

Yellow is that one strict teacher who teaches very interesting topics and you have to admit, you learned something. I also like how TSC gets irritated on Green's build like 'Should've seen this coming!' but apart from that, everyone already knows that Green makes the most advanced build all the time.

I now realize why Orange and Green were disqualified: Yellow wrote the tutorials for what they ended up building. Obviously, Yellow realized this immediately.

Most insane thing is "Minecraft inside Minecraft" was actually achieved, both 2D and 3D versions. Those guys are insane. And talented. And insane.

if you look closely, yellow was waiting for a specific time for everyone to be done with their projects. Yellow likely noticed SC and green tinkering with theirs long after the other two were done, hence why yellow didn't bother to grade their projects.

tbh, i can see why red won. while TSC and greens builds were both insane, they contained nothing from the lesson. Not only that, but you can actually see how Red and Blues worked. While TSC and Greens were completely out of context (if you know what I mean).He beat blue because blues really only moved 1 piston.

I know it's not as clear cut as some other things, but I think Red also won because he captured the spirit of redstone: making something easier and more fun. Blue's would have been tricky to reset and not much easier than normal, while TSC and Green forgot about having fun and got overcompetitive.

Part of why I like this series so much, both future and past episodes is because regardless of whether or not you can do these things in minecraft it acts as a nice sort of catalog for some of the updates of minecraft

I was having trouble with simple redstone, just so I could make my zombie farm a little more convenient. But instead of looking up a common tutorial, I went to this video instead, and it was still helpful 😅

Why red won: Blue WOULD have won, however he did not set up a system for the nether warts to be automatically replanted, making his machine basically worthless. Green and Orange's machines weren't useful, they both focused on putting minecraft, IN minecraft, which is useless and a waste of time, it would only entertain someone for a few seconds and then never used again. Reds machine was the only one that was actually useful.

I was halfway through falling asleep when an idea hit me and I had to write it down asap or fear losing it: I know why Red won now. At first, I just wrote it off as a joke "because Red's usually the dumb one so for him to make something like this shows he had the most improvement, which Yellow chose to acknowledge.". But I just came up with a better answer that makes more sense: Red actually deserved to win. The idea is something like: Yellow is an Engineer who takes his craft seriously, yeah? He's not teaching them how to use redstone, he's teaching them how to BE AN ENGINEER LIKE HIMSELF. And being an Engineer means that you create technology that helps you solve problems. Your machine has to have a USEFUL PURPOSE. Orange and Green were disqualified, because while they demonstrated a MASTERFUL understanding of logic gates via their recreation of MineCraft in MineCraft, the devices they created served no useful purpose. It's literally just playing Minecraft in Minecraft. So in spite of their magnificent creations, the contest, by default, ended up being just between Red and Blue. Between the two, Red's device looked more complex and solved a more tedious problem, whereas Blue's invention took a job that wasn't all that difficult to begin with and automated it to make it slightly faster. So, at best, you could say his device demonstrated an understanding of redstone mechanics but whether or not the purpose it served was useful could be up for debate, given, again, how simple and easy farming in MineCraft is already. So, yeah. Holy shit. Red actually deserved to win!
