Most universal kits are so universal. This time we had to modify the kit to make it work for our application. Not a big deal. Just took a bit longer. #diy #dashcam #tacoma #toyota #wiring
Glad we can help. We have other upgrades coming soon. This is an Awesome platform for knowledge share. i have gotten so much from youtube, we are just trying to give back. Good luck with your install.
You can touch your test light one of the probe spots on the back of the fuse to test for power without having to remove the fuse. If the ground spot you use for the probe works… It will work as your ground for the installation. Good video.
Good point. We do love this platform. We learn as much from our viewers as we teach. thanks for the tip and the watch. Check out the playlist for the 3rd gen Tacoma for more videos.
I hope it helps with your install. Good luck. We did pick up lucky number 7 vehicle and this one is for my teen. So another Dashcam will be installed. Not happy that it is a ford but that is what she wanted. :) thanks for the watch.
@@5LakesGarage hey man, thanks for uploading the video. I plan on installing a dash camera soon have you had any issues with the fuse selection you chose?
I have not. The only issue so far would be from the unit itself. at times it tells me that the card is full and that it doesn't loop like it supposed too. but most of the time it is fine. I will be investigating that soon.
you could use them to keep the amps factory for each circuit. On this install they were close enough i felt comfortable to double them up. I have a few other vehicles to put one on. I could touch on those when I put them in. Thanks for the tip.
Hi There. Great video! Although I am in the UK (we drive on the 'wrong side of the road!!) so my Volvo XC 60 is right-hand drive but the principle is the same and the video showed me exactly what I needed to hardwire my Redtiger F7N. I am not electrically minded so your video was excellent and it all seemed to work fine. One question though that you may be able to answer for me if you wouldn't mind: I thought I would see if I could run the Dashcam with just the ignition ACC fuse in (so without Parking Mode) so I disconnected the B+ fuse (Yellow wire - Constant) and turned on the ignition and the dashcam did not come on. So, does the B+ fuse have to be in for the dashcam to work off the ignition also? I hope I have explained myself OK? Cheers, Mike
Good day Mr. Thompson. Sorry for the delay. I was away in the woods with the scouts camping and retiring flags. We did find a Union Jack flag in the bag so we googled on how to dispose of it properly. I just hope we did it justice. We appreciate our allies and they should be shown respect. Now onto your issue. With the hard wire kit, i believe you will have to connect both wires up. Both ACC and Power on. if you do not want the parking mode option then you can turn if off in the software. if you connected them both and the camera still does not operate then I would check the ground and then connect it directly to a battery to ensure that the camera is operational. i hope this helps a bit. let me know how it goes and maybe we can find another option. Thanks for your watch and comment. good luck.
@@5LakesGarage Dear Sir. Thanks so much for your reply, much appreciated. It's all up and working now; I did not read the manual 'small print' close enough. To get Parking Mode you have to turn on ignition then turn off, then set parking mode in the menu then turn ignition on again and it locks it in! All Good! Incidentally, spent 4 very happy years with my family in your great country based in California back in the 80's (I did exchange tour with your Air Force); made many good friends and have some wonderful memories! Best wishes to you!
So is the hardwire kit “fused” so to speak? Asking because you replaced dedicated fuse’s with that harness instead of choosing an empty slot which seems to be what the instructions suggest.
The kit came with with fuses. The better plan would be not to piggy back on other circuits but i did not finds any. (did not look too hard) I chose two that are not heavily used. Dome light stays live all the time and USB fuse cause I had it connected to the same circuit but down the line. So far it has been working great. It is funny playing back the conversations of Techs that bring your truck into the shop. They all pick on each other on how they drive a Manual. :) good luck. and thanks for watching.
Umarım çeviri iyi sonuç verir. or in English It is suppose to start recording as soon as there is a motion or bump of the vehicle. Once i get off of work I will pull the card and see what it recorded while in the parking lot. I hope the translation comes across OK.
i do not see why not. As long as it fits. Good luck with your install. I need to run down to grab the memory card to remove the footage of the trail rides we did this past weekend. I hope they come out.
