Hi Richard, i’ve heard of the Nero pump, but I’ve had good success with the hygger mini wave and of course, on a large tank I really like the MP 10. 👍🏻thanks for your comment!
@@TOMReefer Tom what do you think about Seachem Denirate and Phosguard my local aquarium guy who I trust said to put them both in the sump and it should slowly cure Nitrates and phosphates
I adding hermits to my 9.7g tank and they destroyed it too. My main dt tho I'm still dealing with cyano and some algae. I've added like 200 snails but hasn't improved much. Must be still having nutrient issues. I can tell by the glass and how the water looks seems phosphate is ok but think nitrates are still going up. My maintenance day is Monday.. I picked up some biopellets and getting some purigen but idk if it will even help or if I'll even use biopellets. But thanks for the video, really cool you always have good responses for me. Been working on my flow too, good stuff
Hi Nick, high nitrates can only be, over feeding, not enough water change, or to high a bio load (to many fish) try a few 50% water changes a few days apart and test to see how much nitrate comes down. 👍🏻
The bigger hygger is great for tanks all the way up to like a 75gal if u put one on each end theyre like $100-$120 but well worth it if u ask me they WAY more powerful than the lil ones they pump out some serious flow i had one that was enough by itself in a 28gal nano for a mixed tank i cluding sps even a few acros if that tells u anything I absolutely love the lil thing!! In fact im going to buy a second kne to do jus that put one on each end of my 75gal reef will be more than enough considering the only flow i have on the one side right now is a cheapo uv sterilizers output flow and then a wavemaker tucked down behind the rocks and thats enough and that lil hygger has way more power than that way i mean it can push water 3/4 of a 4ft tank no problem i mean really all 4ft jus the last ft is like soft coral flow only
@@TOMReefer oh really???! Well heck if u like the lil guy youll love the big guy its def worth the extra lil cost to me ive had it about a yr and its going strong i really like my hygger heater too with a built in controller but im still gonna put it on an inkbird jus to be safe but i really think hygger makes some quality atuff especially for their pricing vs others especially when on amazon and ebay u can get a 2-3yr warranty for an extra $10-$20 thats what i did… u should get one and do a video on it id be interested to see what u think of it to me its the best budget controllable wavemaker on the market they seem to be a big notch il in quality vs say jebao pumps at least from my limited experience with each im prolly fonna end up order another one of the big ones here soon i wish theh made a gyre!! Guess we should all be tellin their customer service that we’re waiting kn them to make a gyre lol
Hey Tom my tank hasn’t been doing to good I need some advice. My corals have gotten smaller and nothing seems to be growing healthy I was wondering if I can restart the tank or should I keep this one running and try to rebound it ?
Hi JD, I’m always in favor of rebound. The wellness of your tank is probably due to lack of maintenance, or not enough. Check your parameters. A series of 50% water changes over a week to get your NO3 and PO4 down. Also will balance Calc and Alk. If you have Hair Algae or unwanted Algae, remove that manually. It will take time, a few months. You would probably be doing all these things anyway if you start it over. 👍🏻good luck
OF -> Reef tank, to test it out, I added an SPS coral. After a month, the condition is not very good, with some brown and green algae on the live rocks. My friend suggested not adding carbon source and trace elements, but I don't think it makes sense. Is my friend's suggestion correct? thanks
Hi Ted, brown and green algae on your rocks means high nutrient levels. Which could be caused by your carbon source and trace elements. (Too much) SPS require a lower nutrient level, then most coral. You may want to do some reliable testing on your nitrate and phosphate levels to see what they are reading. It’s quite simple, nutrients = algae if they are not being consumed by corals and other living organisms in your tank. 👍🏻😊
Tom I just set up an 8 gallon all in 1 nano tank with 3 chambers in the back..I'll put a filter sock in the 1st chamber do I put any bi-balls or carbon in the 2nd and 3rd chamber?..Thanks
Hi Al, you can put a bag of carbon in the chamber the return pump is in. Probably the 3rd or last chamber. That way there is water flow passing through the carbon just before the return pump. No need for bio- balls if your creating a live rock set up. 👍🏻
Hi Bogart, I’m sorry, I just didn’t have enough time anymore. If some day my time becomes available I’ll start up Water Change Wednesday again. In the mean time feel free to ask anything in the comments and I’ll answer. Thanks so much for your support and interest 😊be well
Hi Awall, you have to trial and test. I have a vid. On that too. Short story. Test your water for alk and Calc, then add a small amount of 2 part by time the pump runs. Do this for a few days and test. If your Calc and alk are going up, then stop when you get to the desired Calc and alk you want. Test again after a week, if Calc and alk are increasing, then reduce the time that that you are adding the 2 part. Test again in a week. You should be at the sweet spot. But this only serves for a time. Your Calc and alk usage could change over time. That’s why it’s a good idea to test Calc and alk once a month or so. 😊👍🏻
@@TOMReefer thanks mate for guide … I always having issue with alk, calcium and magnesium using all for reef. It doesn’t balance as per their instructions
@@TOMReefer yeah that what I going for now … just want to know how to do it and thanks your guide and advice should be able to do it… your video is like really telling how to do it and not trying to sell something
I work 60-70 hours a week. I’m not sure if I should just give my build away because I don’t have the entitled lifestyle to properly care for my tank, or if there’s a way my babies can thrive on a working man’s schedule.
