I saw Reefer Madness in a theater in Indianapolis in 1971.When the woman jumped out the window,she got a round of applause.

"I've seen ET take it in the ass!". You know, that really does defuse any argument you could make about a film being shocking doesn't it?

1936: "Marijuana is the greatest threat to world security. We have to rid ourselves of it! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get to the Berlin Olympics. Nothing alarming about all these people extending their right arms, shouting "Heil!". They look like wholesome pot-free people to me."

1936: Weed is what's wrong! 1982: Rock and Roll is what's wrong! 1999: Violent Video Games is what's wrong! 2005: Vaccines is what's wrong! 2012: Social Media is what's wrong! 2019: Too many things to list...

Gotta love the hypocrisy of these old PSA movies, considering that they say pot is evil but cigarettes and cigars and alcohol were just fine 👌.

Holy shit! The Swell-O-Meter is going off the charts!

I love how insanely straight laced old movies are, messy drug dealer pad has one pillow on the ground, perfectly groomed drug addicts, creative writing for swears, hit and runs without death, and GSWs that don't bleed and look like moles. Marvelous realism.

This film is like The Room meets God's Not Dead if it were directed by The Cohen Brothers.

Imagine if Pureflix did a version of this called "The Devils Lettuce". The plot is about a Christian from Texas who smokes weed and became so high that sees the devil in the smoke, and the only person who can save him is his pastor by doing an exorcism.

Dude the musical version of this is so good, and it's doubly funny because the main girl is played by the voice actress who played Anna in Frozen

The judge in this movie was played by Edward LeSaint who was also the judge in "Disorder in the Court" with the Three Stooges. Official: Reefer Madness takes place within the same universe as the Three Stooges.

So be careful kids! If you smoke pot you may accidentally turn into a nuclear weapon and destroy a city! Or yours! Or YOURS!

My dad watched this movie as a teenager and he believed everything in the film. He died at age 94 believing that only Beer and Whiskey are the real manly things to take.

why is the quality of an 80 year old movie better than most movies from the 60s/70s? ps: its always weird seeing a movie where literally every actor is already dead

Only two days into 2017, and already a new Snob episode? The New Year is looking up already!

The colorized version is even more awesome. All the weed smoke is in different colors. Like you can choose to smoke one with red smoke, or blue, or green. That probably made even more people want to try it. lol

This movie was shown in my Drugs class to show how opinions on marijuana have changed over time. This is hilarious even when you're sober.

As a long-time MST3K fan, I loved that you call this "the prequel to "I Accuse My Parents.''' Bill is somehow even more gullible than Jimmy Rogers, and both feature manslaughter involving a revolver as the big-ticket crime of the film. While "I Accuse My Parents" was hammy with a good message and likeable, quirky side characters, this flick is duller than ditch-water.

Gotta admit, that joint rolling machine is actually really cool. Didn't know those existed. Wait... so this movie did teach me something!

Having more time than sense, I checked out the real ages of these 'teenagers" on wikipedia. Taking a 1936 release date as a baseline, 5 of these actors ranged in age from 21 to 31. Not too bad, I figured they were all over 45.

While the choice isn't the best (that movie has been covered a lot and isn't as obscure or crazy as some of the stuff that's been reviewed here), the execution is terrific. The jokes fly in this one and there's a lot of great stuff - I especially liked all the comic book villains referrences (better Joker than Jared Leto isn't saying much though - it's like talking of a better Batman than George Clooney) and I don't think I ever noticed the headline about Dick Tracy. So kudos Brad for this awesome episode, you're starting 2017 on a roll.

Watching this just makes the musical seem that much better. The end of "Sex Maniac" is awesome.

I do like the directors photo where in he's smoking a giant cigar, something far more detrimental to ones health then weed.

Viewership in Colorado and Washington will be huge.

OK, got a stoner story for you all. I was designated driver for a bunch of stoners once. First I had to herd them to the car. Then I had to put up with giggles over street signs and Jordan trying to explain how Barbie Girl was about communism and the political assassination of someone and they would all break out into the song and he would lose his place and start over. He made a few good points but kept getting distracted by his own hair. At one point Il-Hyun grabbed the wheel because he thought he saw a dog mermaid. At this point I was pulled over for being an erratic driver. I stopped and got the window down explained it wasn’t my car, it was Dan’s, and I didn’t know where the registration was and god damn it all there goes my Korean. Once I got out to grab Il-Hyun the other twp escaped. The cops helped me get my stoners rounded up and showed me an amazing trick for dealing with stoners. Child lock. We lured all three into the backseat car with the promise of dog mermaids and Snickers. I delivered on neither.

The musical version with Alan Cummings as the Professor is really great. Paw Dugan did a Music Movies episode on it. (Sadly taken down on his page)

The Cinema Snob it's like Nostalgia Critic and Captain Kirk from Star Trek and the Fonz from Happy Days the character is like a combination of all of them

With regards to shoveling the marijuana into a public incinerator--remember the sequence in Up In Smoke (1978) where the pot van (as in, it was made of weed) catches fire and gets EVERYONE high? Yeah, the whole town is about to get high when the pot smoke comes out of it...
