I miss the early 2000s , if your here listening as your first time or five hundredth time, know you’ve found a Gem❤ this type of punk needs to be saved.
I agree, my friend. Better times - it was the moment before the internet really took hold. I think life, society and friendships have, and will never be, the same again. There will come a day when we'll be the last people on earth who lived through pre-internet...
I’ve been a fan since I was 13….I’m 41 now….listened to this song a million times and loved every one…but it never hit home until I was in this situation…and now I love this song more than I have in the last 20+ years…I miss the old line-up though…
This is one of those rare cases where a nostalgic 720p MTV-ish music video is actually better than the official audio. Absolutely love the basslines in this vid!
Hell yeah, I will always remember seeing you guys live, one of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of going to was them and Streetlight Manifesto! Always loved this song; instant eargasm. Thanks guys
This is easily one of my favourite songs of my entire life! The song is perfect. The message is perfect. The tone is perfect. The video is perfect. And if I'm screaming along to this you know that I've probably had a moment that suck but, at the same time, I'm singing and fucking loving life! (until it finishes)
Man I haven't listened to Cheer Up in yonkers but it was a very important album to me growing up. All the memories flooding back. Never actually knew there were film clips though lmao.
I might have not listened to enough early RBF, but this song just feels like a departure from the typical upbeat tunes they jam to. This in no way means that the song isnt good. Its one of my favorites and just incredibly solid all over from the melody to the lyrics and little harmonies. Love u guys! Come to Austria sometime
All these years... I'm still pissed off. Simple. Could of been something. Is it a conclusion of more? Damn right I expected more. Harder of expectations... Fine. Let's get it!
ive always wondered if this song was rbf trying to sound like some of the other post pop punk bands of the era. still a great track and so fun to see play live
It seems like you guys, Less Than Jake and Goldfinger shared this period in the early/mid 00's where your label seemed to go out of their way to photoshop out the horn section, and somewhere around 2010 you collectively banded together and went "No. The horns will play once again." 🎷🎺
In the late 90 to early 2000s Pop-Punk was all the rage and had become a major mainstream player. Labels all tried to jump on board and forced their bands to write at least 1 song that followed the standard progression on their albums that could be marketed as a hit radio single in an effort for a quick cash grab.
Great modern punk radio song (in 2002) from ska legends. Yes the horns section is gone. Ska bands with horn sections had faded out by this year. Remember around this time Gwen Stefani was also doing her "Hollaback Girl" thing, a massive difference from early No Doubt material. The radio punk sound of Blink 182 and Green Day had replaced ska in the mainstream.
It’s different because this song removed any elements of ska in it, has rather straightforward typical punk guitar strumming and no horn section. This album (Cheer Up) is probably their least ska album, but simultaneously their best in my opinion.
@@Gabriel2oh6 I really love Ska (more specifically RBF and Less than Jake), but they would definitely be a much more popular band making punk music... But I'm glad they keep making ska instead of trying what's popular at the moment.
