Reencle is AMAZING. I totally disagree with your complaints about Reencle. I have a Lomi, a FoodCycler and a Reencle. The Reencle is FAR SUPERIOR to the other composters. It generates 2 pounds of compost daily for me in my kitchen and I have never had any problems scooping out portions without making a mess in my kitchen. I think it is ridiculous to say that you need to carry the entire Reencle out to the garden. I scoop out compost every other day and bring it to my garden without issue or mess. It doesn't smell and isn't costly to maintain as I don't need to subscribe for filters and probiotics like you do for Lomi. REENCLE RULES!! I have a nice stainless steel pail that I keep by Reencle to transport the compost to the garden. Reencle is the perfect composter. This review makes me want to do my own review of Reencle. I really think you are doing composting in general a disservice and turning people off of the best composter on the market.

@@honeybrown8524 It's the closest thing to outdoor compost you can get indoors. Obviously, you aren't going to be getting the insect and fungal decomposition like you would outdoors, but you are getting the thermophilic bacterial component as if you were hot composting with the benefit that the compost will be continuously turning instead of having to do that yourself manually. It really is a "set it and forget it" system. I sometimes add a bit of ice to it every so often to evenly add moisture.

Huh, you got a Lomi after you got the FoodCycler? May I ask why? The Lomi seems to just be an oversized FoodCycler. The processing vessel is no larger, so I don't get why the Lomi was designed so wide. Do they have a larger motor or something? Also, I've been made aware of another device called the "soilkind" (formally known as "KALEA") that was on Kickstarter four years ago with aspirations of going into mass production later this year. They're being manufactured by German company Kärcher. It appears to combine the best approaches of the FoodCycler/Lomi and the Reencle into a single flow-through unit. I might donate my FoodCycler and Reencle to my parents if the soilkind turns out to be worth it. Sounds fascinating.

I am using for two years now and never had any problem of messing when I scoop it out. Just use a mixing bowl and don’t take too much. I just spread it out on my backyard . No smell problem either if you know what to put and how much.

Please do make that video comparing the two. I've been looking for a while at getting one, but its hard to find real comparisons. I'm not allowed to have outdoor compost where I live, so an indoor one would be great.

I think it’s an intentional design choice that there isn’t a bucket to take out the compost since when you scoop it out you’ll leave some behind rather than dumping it all out. I don’t think this should be considered a negative. Its not that hard to find a container to scoop your compost into an separate container & take it out to the garden, not sure why this is such a big deal in the review. I also don’t see an issue with the lid closing, it seemed to be open long enough to put your food in & you can just hold it open if you really need
@MikeTrieu
@MikeTrieu 4 месяца назад
If I need to reach in longer, I just open the main lid and the magnetic sensor in the machine automatically pauses until I shut it again.

Just got this. But… solve your guys problem. Get one heavy duty bag. Trash bag or store or whatever. Plastic bag meant to be reused. And empty this the way you pick up dog poop. Stick your hands in with the bag and then turn it inside out as you grab huge handfuls and pull it out. Problem solved.

This is studied for urban usage. If you live in a big city, in a 30 floors building, you don't want to have smelly food waste in your house and u can't take it downstairs everyday. Is a big advantage. Of course if you live countryside, you might as well pole a hole in the ground and throw all in.

@MikeTrieu
@MikeTrieu 4 месяца назад
@@runawayantelopeWell, that and you're always going to have some anaerobic decomposition in compost pile, which generates methane, a potent greenhouse gas. The Reencle process is completely aerobic, so you get none of that.

The lomi is not a composter. Composting requires 5 elements to function: water, carbon, oxygen, heat, compost eating bacteria. Ifthe reencle stinks, add more fine sawdust or mulch. Too dry or too wet is bad, 60% moisture is ideal.

I just got my unit and so far I am loving it. I really like that you can subscribe to a monthly program instead of buying the unit. As long as I am a subscriber I pay my monthly fee and everything is covered. It breaks, I just let them know and they will replace the unit with another one. Another great feature, it’s so quiet, you can hardly tell it’s on.

I wonder how this might work for composting . . . post-digested food waste ? Our cabin has an incinerating toilet. It works great but it uses 3-4 Kwh of electricity per cycle and a new toilet costs nearly $3,000. We are planning a second small cabin so we can accommodate guests. Installing a standard septic or mound system would at least a $30K option in our location. The land has only a thin layer of soil over bedrock (Canadian shield granite.) We have a Lomi at home. It works fine except that it is loud and takes several hours per cycle.

Don't buy it from Reencle. Do what I do and just open up the screws in the spent filter and replace with your own bulk activated charcoal. You don't need to be adding more plastic to a landfill. Plus, the old charcoal itself is great stuff to add to the soil in your garden ☺️

I watched both Lomi and Reencle videos and cost-wise this saves in the long run. It's compost, it should smell if you're constantly adding to the pile. I understand there will be a mess transferring compost to a small bucket, but not a big problem.
@MikeTrieu
@MikeTrieu 5 месяцев назад
I dunno, I feel if you're using this machine, you're doing it because you don't have access to a pile of biologically active compost. Maybe just buy a bag of Reencle Compost Starter? If you take care to reserve a bit of it after every batch, it should last you a lifetime. Much like the concept of a kombucha mother.

It's not a dehydrator. It's the exact opposite of a dehydrator. Consider this more of an aerobic digester. It needs constant moisture and carbohydrates to keep the bacterial colony happy.
