LOL the handwriting part of your video made me giggle too. I wonder if your daughter was having a hard time with HWT due to the third line missing? I used it in a private school and then once we transitioned to composition in a notebook-nobody remembered where letter placement was on a line because they didn't use the middle line. Anyways, we ended up switching to Zaner-Bloser handwriting and Cursive and it was a win for my homeschooled kids and my students in my classroom.
Yes to different math working for each child! One uses Math U See and one uses Math With Confidence, and it meets them both where they’re at. They are completely different learners, so I can see how trying to find a math that works for 20-30 classroom kids would be extremely challenging. So glad we can tailor our children’s educations. 🙂
My 4th grader sounds a lot like yours. We use different materials, but their attitudes, and likes/dislikes are very similar regarding subjects. She “gets” math, but doesn’t retain it very well. She loves reading, spelling, and history, but doesn’t enjoy creative writing. She’s an older 4th grader, 11. We’ll begin 5th gr in Sept. I enjoy hearing your assessment of your daughter. 👍🌷
My second grader LOVESS explode the code also. It's his favorite work book. Trying handwriting without tears starting this summer but only print. MY 7th grader learned cursive with BJU press in third grade. This year we used TGTB cursive, maybe you can try that since it has a lot of drawing and coloring.
Do you think possibly the reading units were too much is because she was also doing the language units? Nd maybe math too? And shes not a workbook kid? I got the cle 4 reading for my daughter-but not the language. Even though it looks beautiful!!!! We have a different way she can do language and i didnt want her to do too many light units and take the joy out of it. I really hope she likes reading 4 (the light units too! It will be our first time trying)
It could be, but she enjoyed the language arts and the readers associated with reading. I truly hope the reading units work for your daughter; they are so good and comprehensive.
@PlanPrepPray yeah I've heard alot of good things about the reading program from many Mom's. I've looked at the language arts ones and those are beautiful with good poetry in them too. Maybe someday.
