They should listen to consumer. Instead of updating formula, they can release a new product and keep the old version, I think a lot of people agree with you, especially people in Korea, they also have a harsh cold winter and need a lot of moisturizing emollient cream. Dont know what the company think. they should a survey first before changibg something.
For those whose HG moisturizer is Aestura atobarrier 365 cream, i think it's still worth to try the reformulated one. For me it just works great as the former one.
Amore pacific loves changing (“upgrading”) their holy grail formulas! Illiyoon cream, laneige cream skin, Primera miracle seed essence to name a few! It’s so incredibly frustrating!
@@johnsskincarereviewsnow that COSRX has been acquired by Amorepacific since late 2023 I'm afraid they will reformulate the great products. I mean I'm not against reformulation because sometimes it's needed to improve things up but if the products are already good and working well why would you change it and it will make you lose customers from business pov
@@milagrosaq9925but they could've just make new products or a variant of an old product that is already great. For example Beaut of Joseon didn't reformulate their best selling Sun Relief sunscreen but they make another one with different formulation that they claim makes it lighter and suitable for oilier skintype. Both are adored now with different types of customers. They will also probably have more customers, those who didn't like the original sunscreen but at the same time they didn't lose the fans of their sunscreen.
omg so sad to hear about the addition of niacinamide and the performance of the new cream!! not sure why they decided to reformulate when the old product was perfectly fine, especially taking away the qualities that it was praised for. guess i'll be on the hunt for a new niacinamide-free moisturizer... the news is disappointing to hear but thanks for explaining the changes with such clarity! love your videos & product recommendations 😊
I know it was just starting to get viral and they changed it! I think Amore Pacific (parent company of Aestura) has all their products on a renewal schedule every few years.
Oh I don’t like to hear this! I just finally found my HG in the Iliyoon cream after they ruined Soon Jung 2x Barrier cream with a reformulation! Whhhhhyyyy to they do this to products that are so universally loved?! 😢
Thank you for the update Kelly. I will not be repurchasing because they added naicinamide and I already have toners, serums, and essences with naicinamide in them. Too much layered of naicinamide irritates my face.
What do we do, Kelly?! 😭 The old formulation was IT for me. I’m honestly SO sad. Do you have one or two moisturizers that are similar enough that you can recommend? CeraVe and niacinamide don’t work for me, and I’m looking for ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids (obv.)! Thank you so much for walking us through the changes. I won’t be trying the reformulated version.
@@tyronesoares3268 I’m unfortunately sensitive to niacinamide, so I can’t use Lipid Gold, and I read on Stratia’s website that Interface may not be the best for acne-prone skin (which I have). Their Night Shift retinol cream is one of my holy grail products, though! Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve been meaning to update my post about how I’ve tried the Pyunkang Yul ATO Cream Blue Label and, miraculously, it’s working even better for me than the Aestura! My skin looks more even and plump and it feels just as well moisturized! It does apply with a bit of a heavy feel at first, but in less than a minute, it already starts to give me that sink in feeling and works well under my sunscreen and makeup. I’m so relieved!!!
I have really dry sensitive skin so I need a fantastic moisturiser my favourite is the blue purito one. Has ceramides in an airless pump as super thick. Other ones that are great is the illyoon one
I only tried the new version of this cream and I was so confused as to why people were obsessed with it. It felt heavy yet it was not enough for dehydrated skin in the winter. I absolutely hate the feeling of skincare sitting on top of my skin. I had to switch to the FAB firming peptide cream to save my skin during this winter.
Well, now I know I definitely can’t purchase it and I had my eye on it. I can’t use products with niacinamide, and getting tired of almost every product having that ingredient included 😞
The presence of niacinamide made it no long usable for niacinamide-sensitive skin people. Amore pacific really out there working overtime to dissapoint their loyal consumers
Ugh, what is Amore Pacific doing? They’ve reformulated this classic cream AND apparently discontinuing the Vintage Single Extract Essence. 2 very unique products lost to us, it’s so frustrating.
Why do they change good products? I was upset when I saw the video and then when you said it had niacinamide I lost it, lol! Why??? Thanks for updating us, I can't use this product anymore with the addition of niacinamide.
The reason why I got Aestura was because I wanted a cream WITHOUT niacinamide for calmer days. And now the new one has niacinamide😩 WHYYYY change formulas if it was working
No! WHY? 😢 I love the cream at night and the lotion in the day. Both have been renewed. I just reordered the cream from Stylvana, I'm hoping for the old version. The lotion was out of stock and now back in stock so I assume that will be the new version. But classically, Stylvana probably won't update their photos to show the new packaging to make it clear 😅 So disappointing. I can predict fewer sales. Do brands ever go back to old formulas? Thanks Kelly ❤
My favorite niacinamide-free skin-barrier moisturizer is C.R.E.A.M. 2.0 from Regimen Lab. The studies they have on its ability to support the moisture barrier is also impressive! Would love to see you review it
I like this cream but unfortunately it really is only good for nighttime use for me due to pilling. The studies are really just on the ceramide/fatty lipid ratio. There are other creams that also use the same ratio.
Nooooooo…..why?…😢 My HG….do you think Iliyoon is the next best thing for us dry and dehydrated skin types? Would love to see an updated best ceramide moisturizers video 🤞
Super dehydrated here! And I personally much prefer illiyoons cream to Aestura’s even before the reformulation. It’s bonus that it’s also much more affordable!
Nooo, what a disappointment! Don't like that shiny finish at all. I didn't purchase it (the old version) yet because of the price, but I was tempted. I think I'll skip it now and stick to my beloved Vanicream cream.
Luckily I still can buy the old version, but when summer come, maybe the new version will be more suitable for me. I love this and the Illiyoon one. Both have ceramide capsule and moisturizing for normal skin.
Hi Kelly this was a popular product despite the price. I hadn’t tried it yet because truthfully I need a really buttery thick cream in the colder months. I had considered trying it in Spring or Autumn/Fall but was using up some others I had. The reformulated version is going to be a just no for me (I have super dry rosacea and eczema prone skin). There are a plethora of lightweight creams with niacinamide in them at a more affordable price point tbh. I’m still sad about the Laneige cream skin and I imagine some people will feel the same way about this reformulated version. I had heard it was lighter and already removed it from my wishlist. Last year I lost the cream skin and the Lancome teint idole foundation- both items were favourites and repurchased many times in the past. Fortunately I have a new foundation I love but haven’t quite found a replacement for the Laneige (I am allergic to the Dr Ceuracle but like the Mary and May bi phase essence fine). Best wishes x
I love Zeroid, Atopalm, Curecode, Real barrier and Derma B. All of these brands are AMAZING. All owned by the parent company Neopharm and Amorepacific is unlikely to acquire them.
I just did a comparison using a sample without the logo vs the ones i bought in oct-nov that have the logo and the texture is different. I have messaged Aestura to check if they were already shipping the new version late last year. I been seeing changes in my skin which I couldn't explain until I saw this. I would be very upset if they were quietly shipping the new version without informing their customers and even for the reformulation, I could not find a proper announcement online. That is so shady.
This cream was HG and I’m so disappointed they changed the formula! 😢 It seems like it’s a trend changing products that used to be targeted for dry/dehydrated people into ones for combo/oily skin like laneige cream skin refiner! What’s happening?? This is so unfair!
I found a very good heavy moisturizer for winter, Pacifica ceramide vegan moisturizer. It’s super thick and my skin loves it! I have no idea what I’ll use for the spring/summer months now that the old Aestura is gone…
I have bought this cream after seeing your previous video. Luckily, it’s the older version. Have you heard about P.Calm Cato cream? It’s cheaper with nice texture. 😊
ive heard about P.Calm Cato Cream before from Tina! Shes obsessed with lol Do you think its as similar to the old version of the aestura cream? talking about texture, ingredients, and feel on the skin
The addition of niacinamide is beyond disappointing because niacinamide reacts badly on my skin. I thought I had finally found a moisturiser to use and now I can't. Can you suggest any other similar alternatives please? :(
i'm the person that is going into my 40's as a very dry and dehydrated mature skin especially in the winter i really need that extra support of hydration and moisture , of course i'm the person that willing to pay a little bit more for a really good product that will work for sure , I'm very grateful and thankful of watching this video , let's be honest here $ 40 for a cream is really heading towards ( luxury price ) i hope in time that they will reverse it back before it's too late this video was very helpful , thank you it will really save us from breaking the bank like drunk elephant lol
I was gonna buy it because of how many good reviews ive heard but now i have to find another cream since my skin is sensitive to niacinamide i hope they reverse it
Kelly hola!
Hey Kelly! My face is dry/dehydrated. Not that sensitive, although I do have rosacea, which thanks to Korean skin care I can barely notice, but careful not to activate! After I shave my face, it gets red, irritated, drier. A lot of my normal toners burn a bit. So, I feel like I really need a toner (possibly a mask and lotion/cream to lock everything in as well) to use immediately after that will really soothe & replenish my skin. Looking at ETUDE House Soon hung pH5.5 Relief Toner, which I’m leaning towards. Also looked at the Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner. But I’m so used to cica, also looking at COSRX Pure Fit CICA Toner. I have all in my cart & I can not make a decision! When in doubt, ask Kelly! Would you suggest any of these or do have a better option for the best toner (mask & cream if needed)? Also, what do you suggest I use on my face when I actually shave it? Heard a bunch of different things but really need to know what you suggest ❤ Thank you, Kelly!!!
I would try the Round Lab Dokdo toner! I have tried all 3 above and the dokdo and I have found the dokdo to be the most hydrating of the group. The Dokdo toner is one of Kelly’s favorites. I got the rec from her channel!
Here's my secret...when there's reformulations to products i like i hit tj maxx and marshalls and stock up...not sure if its a way for companies to get through stock but there's usually an influx during the time of reformulations
The aestura atobarrier 365 cream does not contain fragrance, it doesn't smell like anything really. Perhaps you inadvertently got a different aestura moisturizer.
Kelly, I’m incredibly sorry to ask, but how would it compare to something like the La roche cicaplast B5? Thickness wise and absorbing? Is the new version quite lighter and absorbs better? It’s winter here ( australia) and I need a moisturiser that is rich in ceramides , fragrance free and not too many active or ‘extras’ if that make sense ( to use with retinal and other actives at other times, I prefer a more ‘basic’ moisturiser if that makes sense. And I can’t use the illion as it contains soy). It’s on sale at the moment so I’m considering it still. I am dry and dehydrated but will use a hydrating toner or serum with it if needed , and cicaplast in some areas . It’s usually quite humid here in winter too…
It's not comparable to cicaplast which is much more occlusive and moisturizing and meant to soothe irritation. It's lighter than the original Aestura formula but I don't find the absorbancy very good, but if you need something lighter it might fit your needs.
I wanna cry!! i have to backups of the old! and now im gonna go look for some more!!! gotta try the P.Calm one now just to see if that works! since they ruined the Illiyoon one for me as well! 🙈💔
This cream (original) didn’t wow me. I’m using it up as a night cream but it’s far too sticky for day time. I love Atopalm, nothing beats it and it’s far more economical. I will continue to use that both day and night once this is used up
I've heard so much about this cream but never bought it since it's just too expensive for a ceramide cream. I'm sure it's nice on the skin, but there are many great Korean facial creams out there with half the price, and with better ingredients and great textures, so I never felt like I need to buy it, despite all the hypes. So another reason not to buy it now since I have dry skin. For adding niacinamide, I don't really care though, and might probably like it, since I don't have any problem with niacinamide. Very informative video though, intersting to watch.
After you recommended this after Illiyoon ages ago I have used a number of their stuff and loved the cream and mist. But then it was out of stock for ages so was wondering what was going on. I guess it was reformulating, will definitely be buying this, as personally I like the addition of niacinamide as I like niacinaminde on my creams, and like a light cream for day time. Plus I want to test it out for myself
Huh. I was excited at first to see it was reformated, because I liked the original but it was way too lightweight for me (I can never find a moisturizer that's occlusive enough for me), but it sounds like they made the texture more confusing?
Thats disappointing. I didn’t like the cream at first when I tried it but came back to it and loved it. I might try the reformulation after i get through my current stock of moisturizers but disappointing. I really like the torriden ceramide cream so i guess I will go to that when it comes back in stock.
I just got hold of the box from a friend's stash that she bought late last year like I did. I saw niacinamide in the ingredient list so they were already shipping the new formulation last year without telling their customers! No wonder my skin has been weird. I feel lied to and betrayed by Aestura 😖
Kelly, I am often quite confused about your interpretation: you say that this cream is kind of richer, more dewier, added hydrator in the list, but then you say that the new version would not suit dry skin but older suits dry skin more. But isnt the old one less moisturizing? The finish is "silky" which is I guess almost matte? whereas this one is more hydrating? thanks for the review!:) ps. how would you compare this one to Illiyoon?:)
So it's greasy but lighter in its ability to nourish dry skin. The old formula was kind of similar to illiyoon but this new one is way lighter, yet more shiney and greasy feeling.
@@KellyDriscoll I always thought the the more greasy, the more nourishing it is:) and those that leave the skin almost matter like the classic Cerave one, doesnt feel nourishing to me, but probably there is something here that I don't 'know:)
@KellyDriscoll Hi Kelly, I dont like a shiny finish. I have dehydrated leaning combo skin, can you recommend a moisturizer that doesn’t leave a dewey/shiny finish? Looking for a blurring or matte finish moisturizer. Thank you in advance!
Well this sucks 🙄 I was just about to order it because my favorite moisturizer has been discontinued 😂 I can't catch a break. Now I gave to find a new moisturizer that will help as a tretinoin user. Sigh
Some of the discount retailers like Stylevana and yesstyle appear to still have the old formula if you're interested. There seems to be an abundance of the old stock since the reformulated version has only been out a few weeks.
@@KellyDriscoll I know. It's available on Amazon too, which is where I was going to buy it from. But I don't see a point in buying it just to use it for a year maybe, until the old stocks are gone 😔
aestura has a very similar product to the old version its called atobarrier 365 cream *PLUS*. in case anyone does not like the new version! it is 90ml and the ingredients list is almost identical to the original aestura atobarrier 365 cream except the fermented soy bean extract, i checked it on their official kr website . i hope this one does not get reformulated as well
I wonder why people don't want naicinamide in the creAM? I think probably the concentration in it is so low that nothing would be felt about it? I feel the same when they add a bit of l-ascorbic acid in the product and I cannot pair with peptides anynore, but naicinamide goes with everything?
Hallo kelly maam my eyelids area ist swollen and red and itchy since 2 months. Wenn I stand up in the morning eyelids area is swollen and red. I went to the dermatologist he gave me hydrocortisone N1% and I have used it 2 week. My eyelids area recovered but But after a few days the same happened again then I visited again dermatologist he told me to use this same cortisone N1 %cream for a month. I live in Germany and I think her dermatologist doctors are not good. Plz Please tell me what is the problem with my eyelids which is happening again and again. I used to apply The Ordinary's Multi-Peptide Eye Serum and then use the Normal Eye Cream And suddenly | got this problem. I am very nervous If i apply normal cream or sunblock, it will also cause itching. Please tell me what could be the problem and how can it be fixed and can I use active like niacinimid vit c or retinol on my face or not except my eyelids area . Plz plz plz reply thank you 🙏
I suspect that’s the case. Amore pacific (who owns Aestura and Etude House) reformulated Soon Jung 2x Barrier cream as well and they switched out to some cheaper ingredients. I can’t imagine why else a brand would reformulate their viral best selling products other than greed 🙄
Likely it's economical, Amore Pacific (parent company of Aestura) has their products on a schedule for renewal every few years according to internet whisperings. It's either tweak (or change) the formula or raise the price, and most people really hate price increases.
I was a huge believer and lover of Aestura's theracne365 line and the quality of their ingredients, their formulations, and their great packaging. I am so disappointed to find they don't sell my go-to moisturizer anymore since this update. To top it off, they are putting everything in cheap squeeze tubes now. Not the beautiful and great quality pump bottles they previously utilized. Big, big thumbs down, Aestura 👎👎
