I absolutely love you, Kelly! Whether you are self- taught (which is so impressive to do all this research yourself) or have an esthetician background, you break things down so anyone can understand and see more knowledgeable about what they're putting on their skin.

I see peptides often expressed as parts per million (ppm) which can seem insignificant, but as you said, that can actually be a significant amount. I appreciate your more in depth explanation of what claims there are for the individual peptides and ingredients they are in solution with. I thought the video about the Peach and Lily Copper Peptide serum was really a good example of how less copper peptide (compared to other serums) can result in really good consumer feedback, possibly because of the 12 supporting peptides.

Hi Kelly I have used multiple peptide serums over the years. Apart from copper peptides I can’t say I have noted massive differences to my skin. I did get firmer skin temporarily with copper peptides but it didn’t give longer term results for me. I look at peptides as a supplement to my active ingredients tbh and appreciate they do different things. I still think a retinoid is the best for “anti aging”, but azelaic acid has proved to be an ingredient my skin benefited from far more than any peptide serum. Peptides are in my toner and serum currently but it is more of a hope they’re doing something rather than being convinced they do. Best wishes x

Hey Kelly, I wonder how do you know that 0.2 % of copper peptides is effective enough percentage? I saw that even the inventor Dr Pickart says that the minimum is 0.3%. Peach an Lily might be a great serum but I suspect that all the benefits come from other ingredients rather than Copper peptides. Also, I wonder if there are any l beauty serums that would have a decent (comparable to The ORdinary's serums peptide percentage)? I wish brands were more transparent about these thingss...

I'd love to see a This or That comparing NIOD's CAIS and Peach and Lily's serum! I'm having trouble deciding between the two 😂

for how I see it peptides are effective conditioning components but we also have to assume they do not penetrate the epidermis - not only they are large in terms of atomic weight but cosmetic manufacturers do not have to demonstrate efficacy while they have to demonstrate harmlessness so it's in their interest to have products sit on your skin once the more volatile components have evaporated. Still once the skin is damaged it is possible that larger molecules are able to penetrate and creating a lipid barrier - I see in the first product silicones... shea butter etc etc - makes perfect sense. I am just not sure peptides can be considered active ingredients.

Peptides are a huge class of ingredients. This general idea that peptides are too big is too simplified to be applied to all peptides. Some peptides like copper tripeptide are approved by the FDA for wound healing and used in medicated gels for ulcers.

@@KellyDriscoll yes I have no doubt pharmaceutical products can deliver peptides through the epidermis, I am not questioning that, we are talking cosmetics tho, let's not correlate two different ideas here as cosmetics are not medical products. I checked and GHK-Cu is around 400 gmol so in terms of weight it is small enough.. it is hydrophilic for example... as u say the skin is damaged so maybe...but we are in the "maybes". How much of it has to get through to the dermis in order for it to be effective, do we know this? The brands do not have to demonstrate efficacy as you know so in a pharmaceutical formulation I am sure the "actives" work, in a cosmetic product I keep being sceptic. As u write yourself the term peptide itself is vague, still works wonders when it comes to sales. My point is cosmetics mostly evaporate on your skin (the idea they "absorb" is questionable) but they are designed to work by sitting on top of your skin and they are helpful nonetheless... I use them myself. Marketing tends to really oversell them tho, this is what I am saying... ask any chemist not involved in the industry and I am sure they agree with my point ;) Then I am sure most of the products you suggest are indeed effective simply not due to the gimmicks of peptides but due to the fact that they sit on damaged skin and protect it while it heals.

Hey Kelly! When you order Korean products from stylevanna or Yesstyle or iherb, how long does it take to get it delivered to you? Also, do you have to pay any custom fees or extra money other than total amount at the time of checkout.
@KellyDriscoll
@KellyDriscoll 9 месяцев назад
I live in the USA and have never had to pay customs in the 10+ years I've been ordering K-beauty. iHerb only takes a few days, Yesstyle I usually do the premium shipping through Fedex and that can take about 5-7 days. Stylevana can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. Style Korean is like 1-2 weeks ime.

@sossanefroz8675 8 месяцев назад
I also live in the U.S. (California) and have never paid custom. I order my products from Yesstyle. Standard shipping usually takes 2 weeks, but through express shipping I get it as early as 3-5 days! Fedex is usually the one they choose for me! :)

I’ve noticed the hero rescue balm just seems to keep my pimples around longer. They’re less inflamed but it just keeps them around. I’m guessing bc slower healing is better? But it doesn’t help avoid hyperpigmentation for me either.

@@KellyDriscoll I thought it was for once a pimple was popped? Which is when I apply it. Is it meant to be applied once the pimple is healed? Or scabbed?

Most peptides you can, copper peptide and vitamin C can be irritating so it's best to avoid that combo.
