Don’t listen to other people, you give the best advice that you could give based off your experience. It’s on them how they take it. You just keep doing you, you made it this far doing that and if they struggle that’s ultimately because their actions. There’s no need to justify or explain yourself to their Ignorance, it just hinders your energy. Much love and support ❤️

First of all, thank you very much for this video. The topic that you're touching here is definitely something that we all need to consider. I'm pretty sure that I, probably just like many of the people from this comment section, went through this "impostor syndrome" where the doubt of our own abilities is strong enough for thoughts of giving up to appear. I'm actually going through this syndrome at this very moment, so, the idea that you proposed here, of thinking about failure as if it's just another death in Hades is very interesting. Again, thanks a lot for highlighting this topic for us. To those that feel the same thing that I do, please, contact me. I'd love to have somebody to help me go through this, and of course, I want to be helpful as well. Astri is the artist that I look up to for quite some time, and if you're like me, you're probably trying to get the same success that she has. So... lets try that together :) Having somebody to critique my art is actually getting me excited to paint, so, really, let's build a small team of losers that shoot for the stars! Thank you for you attention. Please, have a great day and good luck!

I really needed this. :D For some reason, I have this status in mind that if you are finally at your job, that you won't or are not allowed to fail because you reached a certain amount of success. I am scared to not be good enough or prepared enough to "not fail" at the job I wished for. But still, we all are human and you will fail eventually at anything and learn from them. It is so obvious and still, it is scary whenever I think about it. How you said, fail, understand, learn and move on. Thank you for the video ❤

I can see situations where one needs to check their ego.. but that's not always the case. Failure isn't always failure. It just didn't meet expectations. So many times I get feedback at work that is entirely subjective and I'm so tired of having to follow through on somebody else's ideas. Our own ideas have value too and I don't want to wait another 10 years before someone will take them seriously. I'm not sitting at work to be a slave, it's creative work after all. It's so frustrating at times..

Thank you for this. I always try and learn from failure to do better. It's difficult to get things going and to push through all the 'starting out' failures that are inevitable. It's super difficult to not copy others who are super successful in what you want to do. I was forced to stop drawing 12 years ago and am just now starting to try and get it all going again. Failure is so hard to deal with.

You say that when your piece, drawing, etc. doesn't look the way you had planned or expected that it feels like a failure. I agree! You also said that now it doesn't feel like *you're* a failure, but rather that you simply failed that one time in that one instance and you can ask "what went wrong?". 1) I have a REALLY hard time not getting extremely frustrated at myself when I'm consistently failing and thus looking at a failure as an isolated instance instead of *me* being a failure. 2) What do you do when you can't spot what went wrong? I run into that sometimes where let's say I'm doing a figure study and it's a pretty crazy pose. I'll try drawing it a few times, get incredibly frustrated with myself that it's not turning out right, try to ask "why isn't it working" and come up with nothing...as if I know it's wrong, but can't quite figure out why. Those times seem to only add fuel to the "self-loathing" fire. Especially since I don't have art friends or instructors to help me see.

You were the one that inspired me, since wow is my favorite game and I was totally impressed and inspired by the fanart you did. I'm there, almost 2 years after, I had to learn from scratch, but I can say that failure only makes me keep trying, today I'm not able to draw the way I would like to, but I will keep trying and studying until that day comes.

Thank you for showing the not so pretty side of concept art. Im on my last year of uni, studing concept art and I can relate a lot to you. When i get stuck in a concept for a character I usually ask the person next to me to take a quick look, and because its fresh to them, they can see it with more clarity and they can give me some feedback and details that i may have failed to see because I have been working with this concept for a week and nothing more. Maybe you can do something similar?

I will be watching your career with great interest. no but really, i remember you from your crazy good warcraft commissions and fanart posted on r/wow and it's really cool to see that you're working with a studio, i'm really curious about what you folks at Vela will come out with. i used to want to have a career in this direction a few years ago, but it ended up seeming to stressful and difficult that I didn't feel it anymore. i don't think i even really liked drawing/painting, it was just bored procrastination-sketching taken too far. but failure applies to many fields, maybe I'll find myself failing upwards in another one soon
