Owen Willis Honestly, it's probably my least favorite track on that record. Of course, every single song The Shape... is amazing so I'm not saying I dislike it. I just think they have better songs.
More than fair enough. I think just as a standalone song, it's so defining. It's the simplest one in the record, but I think that's why its appeal is so far reaching.
I hear ya there, it is definitely a standalone in a few ways, certainly lyrically to some degree it is. It's still about "revolution" but in the artistic sense rather than political, though "refused are fucking dead" does have that line about the new romantics, so there is some other art commentary lol. It's funny I actually really didn't like New Noise when I first heard it. I had no idea who Refused was at the time, and the video was brand new and it came on tv on one of those all music video channels that were popular for a couple years around 1999-2000. I was exhausted and was so annoyed at the "shitty" screaming guy on tv. Who knew that within the year I'd have a new band in my top 10 of all time and it would be a band I thought I hated!

I discovered Refused while out on the road with the band Dokken. Immediately went out and bought the CD. Some of my fellow crew guys got it, some didn't. After that tour I was working for a local lighting company and used to play The Shape CD all day long .... most of those people around there could not stand it. I knew after that, I was on too something. Still all these yaers later that album holds me tightly. NOT one bad song on the entire album, then OR today!

Yeah this set is ok because its pretty much all shape of punk to come, but that album they released around this time was not good, totally toothless and bland.
Can't WAIT to see them on their 2015 US tour!! I'm stoked for the new music I think they will be playing for their supposed new album haha. Long live the fucking Refused.
Rien.
Can anyone point me to a good audio file of that bomb siren? RU-vid is LITTERED with a different version and the one version that sounds like this one has other noises in it. Thanks! (I want to take the album version of this song and throw this effect into it).
I LOVE THIS BAND!!!! their name of that LP was SOOO TRUE!!!! It was the shape of punk and ROCK to come!!! They get NO CREDIT for changing the landscape! Everyone loved that LP! Also.... when Jade Puget has ur sticker on his guitar... You're a BADA*S BAND!!! Hes a real artistic person
LOL... too popular? Outside of hipster circles and punk rockers nobody knows who Refused is. Not to mention, The Shape of Punk to Come is probably the most revolutionary punk album of all-time.
they aren't around anymore... again... broke up in 1998 and stated they would never reunite, announced a lot of festivals in early 2012, played a lot throughout the year and then disbanded again stating that this "reunion" was meant to only last for that one year.
what a load of bullshit, sweden is doing great thank u very much ... hes right on one thing tho, alot of countries across europe are falling apart but sweden sure as hell not one of them and never will be .... anyway ... i love the album songs to fan the flames of discontent in my opinion thats refused most aggressive album, every song on that album is fucking awesome !
not trying to start an argument at all, but i think he said Sweden and France wouldn't be far behind if something wasn't done. I don't think he included them in the list, i believe it was more like a precaution. Refused 4 life! love these guys!
why reunion?! they had made their point clear. from a revolutionary perspective, the reunion was a strategic mistake. (i like the music, i like the band, although a band in itself is somewhat counterrevolutionary)
Saladino Neto do even realize what both of those bands along with refused have done for music? dillinger esc plans calculating infinity was lightyears ahead of its time. not saying the shape of punk to come wasnt.
