That's right, this Victoria 3 gameplay has a post--commentary scripted voiceover thing as I forgot to unmute my mic. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this new format as I attempt to retake Victoria 3 Spain's old empire. We invade South American in order to secure the former colonies and even manage to go after Italy! i like the post-production commentary style. i think i still prefer a spontaneous general lack of direction, because i think that your rambling is part of the charm of your videos, especially since grand strategy games hinge on making mistakes and devising a recovery plan, but post-commentary seems to have given a lot of opportunities for historical comparisons, which appeals to me as the demographic who wants to see more of your scholarly perspective :)

Exactly this Laith; if the somewhat incoherent, absolutely hilarious, rambling could be complemented by interspersed commentary on whatever interesting thing I don't know about said topic, it would make for even better videos. A "for context" section as it were.

Two things: 1.) I found the post-commentary style to be enjoyable. I do like the "record-as-you-play" style of video too, but I'm not put off by this type of video by any means. 2.) Vic 3 is an economic game, it's all about building your nation's economy to allow you to war in the first place. I think most people are like me in that half of why they watch RU-vidrs play these sorts of games is to pick up tips and strategies on how to improve their own. So any time you want to talk about that kind of thing, I'm all ears.

I like this method alongside your normal, in game, flow. After watching several of your videos over this week (and probably some of last too), one thing I really enjoy is your historical ramblings. This one felt a little light on the history. Can we get more history bombs in the future? Like less of a single, tactical and precision bomb and more like...WWII carpet bombing us with history in an episode? I really enjoy that shit.

5:25, Spain, unlike a power like the Qing or Persia, does not start the game as an "Unrecognized Power" meaning that they are freely able to become a Great Power without having to force recognition.

I think I prefer your usual type of recording but I find this pretty good as well, nothing to complain about really. For me the best case scenario would be to record as you do usually (in real time so to say) most of the time and maybe record games you play for fun (if you still do that as a way to relax from playing for work) and upload them with post-game commentary in order to have a good recording out AND a day off if possible, you gain some rest and we still get a banger, win-win!

I would say that both live commentary and post-prod are cool in different ways. My take on this, mix it up! It has a different effect I would say. Your spontaneus improvisation gives us the great comedic effect of seeing you struggle xD. On the other hand the post-prod ocmmentary actually made the entire thign into a very nice and cohesive story. Just one more thing. Don't skip your countries economic struggles in a game with socio-economic focus, please. It's why we'r eehere for Victoria 3 :D

I like this post-production style, and I think the economics would work well in it. Economics might get boring if you get into every detail (same as when you're playing the game...) but they're the core of the Vicky experience and at least a summary of what you're doing with the economy and tech is probably a good idea.

Btw Laith, the reason it takes so long to “recruit” for the navy, isn’t because it’s hard to get or train sailors.. It’s because ships take absolutely ages to build from start to finish. Oftentimes taking multiple years. So you’re waiting on the construction and completion of the ships for the navy, not the hiring of crew for it.

This type of format is really good for a more "narrative" approach! I still prefer the normal content, with more genuine reactions, but this for some video could be really good! I actually am interested in the economics. Why? Honestly, 2 reasons. One, it is very satisfying to watch it go from fucked to fixed. Two, it actually is quite informative, the way you do it. You do it one step at a time, working backwards from the shit that loses money. Quite useful, even in other strategy games

I prefer the normal way, but depending on the idea for the video, a commentary fused with clips of you playing and reacting to the situation first hand could be great! Something that you could try out.
