Excellent review, Sid. The Rega Fono Mini sounds so good for its price. It’s performance is truly great value for the money. I use it with my Rega P3 turntable equipped with Elys 2 cartridge and I’m very happy with this phono stage. Keep up the great reviews!
@@sidsreviews1110 Hello sir. I'm 71 and want to hear my records. I'm no audiophile but I bought a cambridge xax and have a technics d202 plugged into the phono stage but not getting the hi fidelity like imagining, Soundstage and all. What suggestions can you give me please. Will this unit get me all that? Thanks
Hi Dale . This is a very good well put together video . Very fair view of what you found and thought. I like this very much . Keep up the good work Dale. Thanks Gerald uk south Wales
The best phono preamps that I have heard were in a mid 1980's Yamaha A-1000 integrated amplifier, and a Bryston preamp with phono preamp into a Bryston 3B-ST.. (amazing)..These were tremendously expensive compared to the Chinese and Rega preamps. The Rega is a great little unit though!
Excellent review. I've been thinking about buying the mini AD2 and connecting it to my at lp60, switching from line to phone to see the difference in sound. I'm saving to go for a Rega turntable in the future. At the moment the mini A2D seems like a nice improvement.
I have this Rega quite some time and I like it very much. Now it cost around €160,= But a couple of years ago Thomann in Germany sold it for € 113,=. I actually bought it because of the usb out connection. I like to digitalize my records of which some of them are not for sale anymore. After transferred it into wav I like to put it on my mp3 player or for my CD player in my workshop. I have it connected on a TD125 with Denon DL110 high output MC and it works great.
Hi Sid - Very helpful presentation about the Rega Phono Preamp - I have just purchased Rega 3 after much deliberation and many hours of studying reviews and after I was given a demo of the Rega P3 at my local hifi store in Dublin I pulled out the credit card and purchased it - now I am waiting for my new Monitor Audio Silver 100s to arrive and time stands and the one item left on my list was a phone preamp which I understand is kinda an essential component between the Exact MM cartridge and my Marantz PM6006 amp (next to be upgraded fingers crossed - ROKSAN is very tempting K3..) I also like to have the option of recording vinyl to my hard-drive - regards from Ireland
I've just bought one of these specifically to allow me to 'rip' my vinyl collection. I already run a Rega Planar 3 with Exact cartridge through a Rega Fono MM Mk5, so I'm not expecting it to give any sound improvement . . . Current price in the UK is £110,
Hi Sid. I subbed a few weeks ago with your Yamaha 1080 review. I'm having issues building a system with my stimulus check. I was wondering. I can buy a crown 1502 class d amplifier but can't find a pre amp. I'm also wanting to buy the new Polk r 600s for my speakers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Should I save up for the Yamaha 1080 ? I want to go home theater and almost bought the Yamaha Rxa2a but don't know when the 2021 receivers come out
They are both pretty good, sound quality is very subjective. I personally like the Rega a bit more but have also heard better, though at a much greater price. IMO the Rega seems to have a little better "rhythm" and speed but that's just my opinion. If you have a Rega TT try the Rega Phono, they are designed to work together. BTW, the Creek OBH-8 SE (if you can find one) is an awesome unit!
