Hi.. I bought my Planar 6 from you guys about 2 weeks ago. Ken assisted me with the sale. I received the TT today and I'm loving it. It was tested out and set up prior to shipping. Everything was done really well. I have the P6 running into an Emotiva amp & preamp, and Zu Omen speakers. The Ania cartridge is really nice and is wonderfull with jazz (my favorite genre). I'm so glad I went with the Ania instead of the Exact 2. My previous TT was a Planar 2 and the 6 is definitely a leap. Thanks for the work checking it out prior to shipping.
I ordered this turntable because of this video and upscale audios setup and support, great upgrade from my project CD, I’m very happy, Sean Paul was great to deal with.
Ordered P6 with upgraded MC cart and phono preamp. Been scouring RU-vid on amps and turntables for months. Without going overboard, I finally found Upscale. Spoke with Al over at Upscale and he took time to discuss gear with me. These guys sound like the real deal. Not too huge of a company, but give you great service. Seems like these guys are the 'go to' for a good turntable and setup. Will give overall review soon!
I just can't help thinking that anyone who drops this kind of coin on a turntable is going to want the ability to adjust VTA and azimuth without using spacers, which are kind of inelegant.
Sorry this is two years later but, hey. Love your overall enthusiasm for Rega products, Kevin, but a bit more attention to detail, even in this summary. You make the general statement at 5'31 that moving magnet cartridges "have a user replaceable stylus". While this is true of some MM cartridges it is certainly not true in the case of the Rega Exact. When it's time to replace the stylus they have to go back to Rega as a rebuild . Just so viewers are aware.
Thank you Kevin! I am STILL in love with my RP-6 in bright RED. I changed out only one thing, and that was the sub platter. I went with a solid machined unit with JEWEL bearings. The original was a resin unit with an aluminum 'cap' over it. The Exact 2 is also very nice and a rather HIGH output too at .7 mv. I believe. Keep it up, I look forward to your next presentation (O:
If I had an extra grand or so to upgrade, would it be better to go from a P2 to a P6, my Fono MM mk5 to an Aria, or get a more premium cart (AT-VM540ML)?
AC motors are not cogless. Any PM motor with an iron core stator will have cogging. The speed is not affected by line voltage. It is affected by line frequency.
I have an exact 2 cartridge pre-fitted on my brand new p6 that I just bought for my ninteen birtday. I'm wondering which catridge beetween the Ania or the Ania pro is more worth the money ( or if I should stick to the exact) once my stylus is worn of.
I’ve got the Planar 3 2016 with TTPSU (before the neo), amazing turntables! And MC vs MM is just a no brainier, MC is well worth the extra investment, makes your old records sound new again.
@@SpyderTracks damn. Yeah that’s gonna be an upgrade to an MM no matter what. Sick cart. Did you need spacers with that too? It’s so dumb I had to buy a counterweight upgrade so I could close the top on my turntable due to the cart
@@mikechivy yeah, used spacers, I think it was 2 actually as it's quite a tall cart. I actually had a custom cover made that just sits in the rim of the plinth. On the p3 I found the included cover added resonance.
Not sure which would be better. I heard the Planar 6 but not the clearaudio. But I really like having a hinged dustcover which the clearaudio doesn't have.
@@winstonb2000 hey don't hate on me for this but I decided to stick with CDs in the end 🙊. I bought a new amp and cd transport. It's a better practical solution for my circumstances. Ultimately I've reconnected with the music which is what it's all really about.
I love this turntable, had it for two years, now upgraded to a Rega Apheta2 Cartridge, Rega Aria phonostage and the other day swapped the tonearm for a RB880 same as P8 and wow this TT makes magic.
Kevin has a past - a good past. He worked at a company called Rogersound Labs. RSL was a well-respected upper end audio/video store back in the 70's, 80's, and early 90's. Everyone who worked there (and at Upscale Audio) all have something in common - they have a passion for audio. At Upscale Audio, you won't encounter a fast talking salesman, who goes from selling cars, shoes, real estate, insurance, etc., and is giving it a shot at audio sales. These guys are veterans, and they're very helpful...and honest. They don't work on commission, so why would anybody working at Upscale Audio not be pleasant and honest? Rega makes a fantastic turntable, and the professionals at Upscale Audio can set one up perfectly for you!
Have a Rega 6 with Ania Pro cart on it's way. Will be hooked up to PrimaLuna Evo200 and Klipsch RP8000f speakers. Thank you for your guidance and experience on this channel.
hi, nice job, for using hana sl do you need a spacer??? I think it is smaller than rega ania, so maybe add some 2-3mm round plexiglass under the platter ??? thank you
@upscaleaudio, if you had your choice between Rega Planar 6 or Mofi Ultradeck which would you choose? Planning on ringing you all and getting set up in the coming month or so.
Thanks for the video. I'm looking to get my first turntable. I've invested in a pair of Totem speakers and a Arcam a28 amp its a bit older but like new. Wondering if I should go with the P3 or just straight to the P6? It seems to have a lot of good features, however I have no experience with LPs.
Ok so I purchased a planer 3 from them and had them install a ortofon m2 bronze cartridge, yes good luck after only using the turntable twice I was having signal loss issues in my right channel I found that the headshell terminals were very lose I tried to tighten them a few times but finally one broke off now they dont want to be responsible for there poor install of a 449.00 cartridge
Really like these videos. I am a little confused with the statement that "the arm being easy on the cartridges", aren't they all setup for the recommended tracking force (more or less)? unless the arm is really badly designed and is causing the cantilever to be pulled in every each way, the wear should be the same.
Kevin runs a very busy store. I doubt he has time to read all the comments. I’ve bought a lot of great gear from him over the years. Including this Planar 6 with Ania cart. Upscale Audio is up there with the best in the industry.
