While Adam was at Tom Spina's workshop, we learn about Regal Robot, Tom's company that makes officially-licensed Star Wars-inspired furniture, art, and decor. Good Joke tho, Adam may have had an interview mindset, where they think there the other person will just answer a canned response so Adam is just thinking how to keep the ball rolling with the next topic. In a few words, Adam didn't put attention.

Adam has some hearing trouble. He wears hearing aids but they aren't always perfect in all situations. He may have even forgotten them that day or maybe they just failed. I also know what it's like to have my attention pulled a dozen different directions. Not everything said around me always sinks in. In short, I want to assume Adam just missed the guys joke somehow.

It seems like an amazing feat of design and craftsmanship as it seems to articulate perfectly even when the actor has to move around a lot. Thanks for the great content!

Actually, it looks like they used the IC HIC. This things almost 6k, and the ones I have built for peope are about 20% of that cost. They make nice stuff, but the price is through the roof for what they are selling. I would have to see the actual scans to believe this isnt a cleaned up IC. Just my .02c though.

Yes they 3d scanned the holochess puppets used in one of the films and are charging 5 thousand dollars for a resin replica of the set lmao.

I like Regal Robot. I wouldn't pay that much for their art, but I do like and appreciate it. Props to Tom for being an EU fan too. And I think he's like me and doesn't care for Disney's fan fiction. They should make some Mando Armor and a Dark Trooper suit. That would be sweet. :{J

The Millenium Falcon coffee table is $6499.00, the Han in carbonite table is $7499.00, and the Han in carbonite desk is just $9999.00. You can get a custom Palpatine's Death Star Throne for $1500.00 or a Star Wars collectors case coffee table for $999.00. No wonder the company owner is so giddy and excited. He's loaded because rich fantwits are shelling out arseloads of cash for this stuff... It is pretty cool, though, lol!

They are so clearly not furniture designers. They are prop/miniature people. The actual overall furniture design elements of the two pieces in this video are super ugly. The cabinets of the desk have the aesthetic of bargain particle board furniture, and the clear cylindrical risers up to the glass surface just look tacky. The coffee tables bottom base just comes across as not having been thought out. I think their biggest problem is a lack of material selection design intent, along with not creating aesthetic furniture forms. They could benefit so much from bringing on an actual custom furniture designer/maker.

As for my opinion, while the design definitely is reminiscent of Ikea in it's simplicity, I think it works here where the idea of the base is to be simple and made of decent materials, but not a distraction from the top. I'm not sure what their reasoning was with the acrylic support rods, but I don't find it too atrocious, although dusting seems annoying. The price seems a bit too high, but it's not all that out there considering what this is and the scale of production.

You have no clue what you're talking about. Stuff like this generally is VERY expensive to make. The mold he showed for that skull would have taken close to 20 hours alone and the sculpt was probably 50-60. Not to mention the cost of resin, silicone and the labor to make each reproduction. You only get about 25 casts before the mold has to be remade again. That means you have to pay for a at least an hour of mold making labor in every reproduction. When I saw the coffee table was $6,500, that's actually cheap considering the limited production run and labor involved. It probably costs around $900 in materials and has 180 hours of labor. This is why people who shop at Walmart shouldn't comment.

As a sculptor, I am really getting tired of hearing people talk about how they "hand made" something that in reality was 95% 3D printed and then mass produced from a mold.

I think his problem is with the term "hand made", which I'd agree with. It's a form of art alright, but I'd draw a line on the term "hand made" to leave out 3D printed things.

You are excluding zbrush artist as sculptor? I think 6 out of 10 zbrush artists are capable(enjoy) of doing the same with clay! It's a whole lot faster, and cheaper for beginners as opposed to pouring money buying clay and turntable and tools.

You think this is bad, watch the "This Is Not A Test." Once Jamie and Will left, Tested has turned into a puppets & props channel. Who gives a fuck about dumb ass puppets and 100 Weta videos. Most of their videos are now of either Adam or Norm interviewing someone about puppets or props in their own fruity style and mannerisms, or a 45 second long "shop tips" with the other guy. Once Adam was done with MB, his beard got tired of him being around the house all day, and she told him he needs to be more involved in tested.
