If anyone should know that rings aren't the only measure of greatness it's Reggie Miller. Wilt was arguably the greatest scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker in NBA history, with two rings though he played in the era of the Celtics machine. But Reggie was seven when Wilt retired and Dan doesn't remember anything about prime Wilt, so... For perspective, Kareem won 7 rings in 8 years without Magic - and that one was with Oscar. Rings are about teams, not individual players.
@@oakeysmokey Very true, but I would say his TEAMS lost by tiny margins. Wilt was almost always great, but his team couldn't match the Celtics or Knicks most of the time. They never lost because of him - his bad free throw shooting was offset by everything else he did.
Reggie is my favorite player of all time and that definitely applies to him but I think the person that gets most shafted for lack of rings is Iverson. He should be a top 10 player but he isn't in anyone's top 10 because he lacked rings. However if Iverson had like 2 rings he might be behind Jordan that is how good that dude was.
I'm pleasantly shocked to see Reggie get a lot of positive feedback on this show because if you are on Twitter, you'd swear the whole world is against him judging by the comments on that app. I've had to defend him many times from the clowns saying he is the worst analyst in sports and is "cringe". Whatever that means.
As a Pacer fan Reggie was never a disappointment!! Reggie is my favorite Pacer of all time and David West is my second favorite. I don't think David West gets enough credit for the Warriors championships with Durant. Durant got all of the attention but whenever the Warriors substituted Draymond for David West I felt like it was actually a step up because David West is bigger and a better shooter even at an older age than Draymond.

I always rooted for Reggie to win a ring because he was one of the best entertainer/clutch players I have ever seen. When the pressure was on Reggie Miller was on.
The Pacers were very similar to the Warriors before Durant. That is why I didn't buy into the Warriors right away because as a Pacers fan I didn't think team basketball without a lot of athletic talent can win a championship. It felt like luck, or the refs were going to screw over the team playing team basketball. However, I loved the Wiggins trade because it gave the Warriors much needed athletic talent. So, I picked them over the Suns etc halfway through the regular season.
Reggie was insanely clutch. I always felt like Reggie was so-so in the regular season and then would step up to superstar level in the playoffs. While for a while Curry was the opposite. Curry was one of the best regular season players I've ever seen but, in the playoffs, he seemed more like a role player. This was the first playoffs where I felt Curry performed similar to Reggie with his clutch shots and carrying his team.
Growing up in SoCal during my younger years I remember seeing his sister Cheryl at the BX in Riverside, somewhere around 1985, but I cant remember if her invisible brother Reggie was with her.
People that watch basketball know how good the Warriors have been defensively. No lower than top 5 during the earlier championships. Top 2 this year behind Boston. Their defense was ignore by the talking heads when picking finals.

If you're playing Dame IN ADDITION TO Smart, you're *really* sacrificing size and rebounds. Like I said, I don't think it's a fit. 🤷

That's a good top 10. It would be interesting how good Curry would be if he hadn't had all these injuries too. When he's focused he's a great PG and is always a great scorer. He does get loose with the ball and turn it over at a high clip sometimes though. But he just does so much to make the spacing for everyone so much better including getting rebounds. If Bird had been on a worse team he would have scored a lot more. And if he played today he'd be tearing it up. Boston just get a decent PG that doesn't turn the ball over and have Horford off the bench or sometimes have Smart off the bench depending on match ups.
@Javier Gonzalez Hard to say, Shaq was more dominant. But it's like picking elite of elite of elite. No one is really wrong. LOL. I would say Duncan is underrated, but Steph does more to control a game than Duncan did and has changed the game dynamics in new ways. We now talk about "gravity" because Steph opened up the court in new ways and that 35 footers are a good shot if you are open vs contested normal 2.
Can't say if when a championship is played. What if this play was different if this player wasn't injured etc. Can always go there the only thing that matters is what happened
I don't know if I can put a jump shooter on my top ten list...as great as Steph is he's just too much finesse for me to be a top ten player...granted, he's great for being a "finesse" player...as great as Curry is he just doesn't strike me as a great competitor, maybe because he doesn't guard the other teams point guard...that has always kinda bothered me.
if I was any of the guys on payday bench end up chasing the cash instead of chips, beware. name a former dubs player who chased the cash and got better with the team that signed them. seems they don't take into account that they became good within the Dubs system, which no other team runs, so it's not likely they will be as successful with another team.
KD will never win A Championship without Steph, Draymond, Klay, Kerr The Warriors. I think leaving The Dubs was one of those "life mistakes" that we ALL make at least once in a lifetime. I truly enjoy watching DP every day but like most, if not all ,sports reporters he seem to think that winning a Championship in any/ALL pro sports is a recurring event. DP: "How many more Championships can Golden State win in the next"..... why can't we appreciate and cherish this one 1st? For as many a great player who played 10,15, maybe even 20 years of HOF basketball ( Karl Malone, Charles Barkley) and never, ever won even one. This is why The Dubs should get the ultimate credit. Damn straight they are A Dynasty. Championships in all professional sports are a COMBINATION of great front office, great coaching, great talent, great medical/ training staff, great logistics management (travel coordinators, locker room efficiency). If any one of these, and things I can't even imagine, go off the rails it could effect the team. Rings are beyond precious.
players as a norm will take a pay cut to win a ring, these guys have a ring now ,it's time for them get paid even if they can't get it from the Warriors. Most players career is 5 to 15 years, they need to go for at least $100mil for 3year contract
You guys elevated Tatum because of the way the refs allowed Tatum to play tough phsyical defense on KD, solving the Kyrie PR problem, imagine what the topic would be if the Nets would have made it to the NBA FINAL (it would be all about Kyrie not getting the vaccination).

Because, he has less accolades than Steph. Not having dominance like steph of being in finals continuously. Yes, he is better defender than steph but he is 7ft almost and there are many players better than him defensively at his height. There are many players offensively better than him at his height. Tell me how many 6' 3" guys are better than steph offensively? You are right defense is part of the game, but sometimes a player can be offensively so dominant to not need top caliber defense. Eg: Bill Russell, he is not great offensively, but his defense was outworldy and he was one of the few guys who could stop wilt.

That was one of the least and most pathetic nba finals ever...The NBA season is so long and watered down by the time I hit the post season I'm just like over the NBA...and when I try to get into the playoffs it's always a huge let down....The Celtics didn't make this interesting at all.
George Mikan has to be in the top 10. He has more titles than Kareem and Michael and 6 MVPs. If Finals MVPs we’re back dated he would have 5. Shaq once said, “If there was no George Mikan, there would be no me”. He changed the game more than any player ever.

Picked the Celtics to win the title because if their size and athletic advantage I the paint and because I thought Marcus Smart would negate Steph to a certain degree...It turned out to be an awful pick.

I used to think Reggie Miller was one of the finest judges of NBA talent. But since he did not put Wilt Chamberlain in his all-time top 10 players, I now think he is a terrible judge of NBA talent. Wilt was the greatest player of all time. Check the record book.
