I once met Reggie, as a wide-eyed 9 year old, at Market Square Arena for my first nba game vs the Knicks ('89). He generously gave me his (my first) autograph. First time he got the ball on the wing for a 3pt shot...the air went out of MSA. The energy was amazing. Think I was out in the back yard after the Pacer game shooting from the flower bed. I understand your sons love...and all these youth today want to shoot the long ball. I coach my youth kids the same way...layups, layups, layups...lol. I think it's awesome he admires a guy who admired you growing up. Thanks for all the great memories Reggie!
Oh man what a great interview!!! Reggie is always great. Having his son come on at the end was hilarious. Thanks for always bringing a smile from sports into our otherwise gloomy lives.
Reggie Miller’s spot on the Dan Patrick show has ALWAYS been sports entertainment/media GOLD!! Been listening to them for almost 20 years. Today’s does not disappoint. Great stuff here. 🤎💜💙💚❤️
Joe Johnson avg over 20 ppg for 5 seasons. Reggie is right. They didn't understand what he was saying. He did not average 16 ppg in 20 separate seasons.
His analysis of Russell’s game was the most insightful and fair critique I’ve heard anyone give of the triple double machine - I hope this interview finds its way in his ear because he works too hard for the basketball world to pile on him the way they have this past season…
If you just look at Reggie Miller stats and do not know basketball you would not think that he was a Hall of Famer absolutely a Hall of Famer one of the more unique Hall of Fame careers of all time
If The GOAT of RBs Barry Sanders had been given the grace that another great Lion got, Matthew Stafford, to set up a trade to at least have a chance with a "winning" organization he would have put that All Time rushing record into the stratosphere. Barry has forgiven The Lions and so have I. Just imagine if Barry had Emmitt Smiths OLine.
The Frank Gore conversation can't really be compared to basketball (or baseball for that matter) because the NFL only inducts a set number of players every year (with the exception of the recent anniversary class). And then the position matters, so if there are 3 other RBs getting in that year, they're less likely to make him the 4th so they can save slots for QBs, WRs or defensive players etc. I haven't looked at the class Gore is in, this is just to say that it matters. I'm just surprised DP didn't bring this up as it is central to Gore's chances of being a first ballot hall of famer.
nah, i knew what he meant. reggie meant that the person averaged 16 pts (give or take) every season for 20 years. that is consistency. joe johnson had some seasons where he averaged 20+, and he had some seasons where he averaged less than 10. sure, he averaged 16 pts for his career but its not 16 pts per game every year for 20 years.
Love Reggie, but he is straight buggin if he thinks a guy should be a Hall of Famer for averaging 16 points a game even if it was for 20 years. That just means he was consistently above average at best for 20 years. Guys like that should be respected and appreciated, not inducted into a Hall of Fame.
One vs one. Reggie rips Steph. Steph requires a complete team to drag attention away from him. He just isn't able to compete physically with the superhumans that play in the league. But that's what makes him so awesome. He isn't the best but he is still beating everyone.
Always love Regg & I'm a big C's fan, but I don't know about the Celtics taking this series. ... Seems like the 2 J's aren't ready to be closers yet. Smart tries to be one, but simply isn't. .... I just can't see us blowing out Golden State 4 times. Boston's biggest hope is the Finals turning Tatum into a late game killer. 🤞
8:40 - Which team? Because looks like Rob Williams and Marcus Smart missed games. The two most impactful Celtic defenders schematically on a defensive team. So who exactly was the "healthy" team? Jimmy played every game... missed 75% of FORTY shots in games 3 to 5. If you're in uniform, no excuses. The Celtics were the better team going in.... they won the regular season series and the playoff series. No proof that the Heat should've won.
I’m a diehard nba fan The NBA is strange believe it or not Joe Johnson has made two more All-Star games than Reggie Miller, but Reggie Miller is 5 times the player And I agree Joe Johnson should not be Hall of Famer and Reggie Miller is a clear-cut a Hall of Famer blows my mind hell Reggie only made five All-Star games Al Horford has made five
