Heading into the wye with 7 cars to turn around. Apparently, the asst. conductor doesnt get to hitch a ride. Regional 95 will tie up in the yard for the night, departing for Boston the next morning as #94. P42DC #140 3/29/07
Most Northeast Regionals run from Boston to Washington, DC but a few of them continue on to Newport News. The trains are pulled by an electric locomotive from Boston but the overhead electric "cable" that powers the train ends at Washington. All Regionals that continue south to Newport News have their electric locomotives replaced with diesel locomotives like the one in the video, before leaving Washington.
Ah yes. the end of the line here in Newport news. Too bad you didn't get the complete turn-around in the wye. It takes a few minutes to complete. I'm sure not many folks out there have ever witnessed a train turning around in a yard to make a return trip. Please, keep me posted on your works!
Haha, sorry i only had a 20 second limit on the digital camera's memory card. Its also difficult when you have non-railroading parents, impatiently waiting for you in the car, who cant see the fun in a train reversing direction!
