En Europa fue censurado por culpa de las estrictas normas de censura de Alemania y, en vez de censurarlo para ese país solamente cogieron y lo hicieron para toda la región PAL
Algo aporto el escandalo Iran-Contra que ocurrio en ese mismo tiempo, ademas que a Contra se lo vinculaba con las guerrillas y el terrorismo que recordemos los atentados terroristas en Europa eran el pan de cada dia; IRA, ETA , etc...
I'm here because I was just watching some guy playing Contra 3 and I recognized the bosses and gameplay. But I never played Contra. Superprobotector was one of the best games I played ever.
Well, I personally like contra better, because of course robots can flip around, climb forever, etc. but not humans. Having humans makes u a bad🌝⚡️⚡️ idk maybe that’s just me.
@@caleb9875 Yep. I loved this fellas as a kid (and still do). I had a bunch of them, but unfortunately they became sticky, smelly and disintegrated so they went into trash a long time ago. :(
Now on my SNES classic I play the US-version - named "Contra 3 - The Alien Wars" - in Europe (Austria), this is one of the pre-installed games. It's not just the main characters, if you look closely, there are much more little details who make this two versions slightly different from each other. I prefer the US-Version
Aside from the slower speed in the EU version, I actually prefer the Euro version in the 2 player mode, since it is easier to distinguish one player from another. The palette swap in the US Version is not enough to see who is who in an instant.
Got the PAL UK version as a Christmas gift, a year later someone sold me a crap ton of games he was desperate to get rid of... it included the US NTSC version... so I inadvertently owned both. 😂
I must say the censorship with Contra (or Probotector in this case) in Europe is actually nowhere near as senseless & silly as most other games at that time. Thankfully Germany barely ever censor nor ban video games anymore.
Looked up why Europe changed the human characters to robots in the contra games... Didn't get a straight answer but the name was changed because of the Iran-Contra that I guess was going on at the time
Contra Spirits will forever outdo Contra III and Super Probotector, if only for the sole fact that the original Japanese version of the game had given the player Limitless Continues, the International releases got rid of this and effectively make it downright brutal for casual players, I wouldn't dare have changed this system for the localization and wishfully others would agree with my judgment on this, never change something in a game if it actually adds benefit to the experience outright.
The PAL region had strict censorship for violence against humans in video games causing Konami to change the protagonists and most enemies into robots and change the name to _probotector_
Siendo objetivo, prefiero mil veces la versión americana por tres razones: 1. Porque tiene más sentido que sean humanos los que estén luchando por defender la Tierra en vez de un par de robots (a fin de cuentas, esto no es Megaman). Me parece una visión mas realista y de mayor sensación de indefensión. 2. Por ser el juego concebido originalmente en base a los perfiles de Schwarzenegger y Stallone, más basado y apegado al cine heroico de acción de los 80's (los robots no transmiten sensación heroica, ya que aunque pueden ser destruidos, no sienten dolor). 3. Por simple y mera nostalgia (no lo voy a negar), siempre he jugado a Contra y no a Probotector. Me gustan los robots, si, pero para mi tiene más crudeza que sean humanos, por eso en éste caso, no cambio la testosterona por el metal.
Am from Europe(Croatia) and we had Contra, it's name is basically like superman, literally everyone knew and knows about Contra. I think not all PAL countries had Super Probotector, probably Germany and some others countries had it.
EU Snes games better? Not sure if you mean the versions of games published in both regions or games developed by studios in EU vs USA. NTSC version of games were always better in 99% cases (leaving a 1% just in case i miss some exception). Pal games were slower and/or with horizontal black bars.
Censorship it appears. They couldn't portray war and violence on games released in Germany, so they changed Billy and Lance into robots. It isn't much of an improvement if you ask me, you are still massacring aliens LOL.
Probotector isn't only in Germany, in fact, most of the current-EU countries (my family lives in Romania and they got the console with 7 games, this includes Probotector, in 1998) have SNES users with Probotector packed in. Aside from all of Europe (yes, even the rest of Europe), All the countries minus Papua New Guinea (technology most likely) in Oceania got the PAL version as well, not the regular NTSC version.
The sound effects are disaster,what is that sound of buzzing bees from the machine gun?Also some parts of the game are simply stupid like alien tank like enemy at american version on 04:05,is he drunk? Where he shoot? hehe
