When I first started watching your content, my hubby and I were a year out from starting to try for a baby. Three miscarriages later, we’re still trying for that baby. I’m just trying to say any content about babies/ postpartum/ raising babies or kids is still relevant in my “research till you get there” mindset! Love your content!
Yes! The “if I don’t do this now my baby will be ruined” was THE #1 cause of my stress and anxiety with my first. Definitely will not be sweating the little stuff this time around (if I can help it)
Doing my first IVF transfer tody and so many of your videos are on my ‘motherhood’ folder to be used when the time comes. ❤ Edit: I cautious positive! 🥳
Congrats, that’s so exciting! IVF momma here, if you’re testing for pregnancy early, bear in mind that your trigger will hang around and cause a positive on your test for up to two weeks afterwards. If you’re going to test early, I would test each day and watch your trigger dissipate so you that you know that the HCG that is showing up is from your body and not from the shot. Sending all the best vibes your way 💕💕🤞
Thank you for posting this. When u said, it'll work out... it made me about cry cuz I have 8 children and I'm on depo not wanting another and I just found out I'm pregnant again and I'm terrified! 9 children is insane and I'm not prepared but this really helped
It’s crazy how similar our parenthood journey is. I had very similar experiences of labor both the times as you, waterbirth and my body pushing the second time (albeit home birth) vs coached pushing first time. Did hypnobabies both the times. Consumes placenta the second time. Ebf both of them. Used hakka. Does/did elimination communication. I do co sleep and floor bed. The purge signal you did was so on point lol! The thing I am learning from you the most is how non judgmental you are of people who do things differently from you❤.
Thanks for this video!! I have two kids and I was pregnant with my third and suffered a loss. I really, really want to be pregnant again and have a third. I love learning about how other moms are going about this. I miss my third pregnancy. I so look forward to doing this all. Thanks so much for this. Mindset is truly one of the best things to focus on.
Hey, Shayla. I’m loving your hair the color and the framing of your face it suits you really beautifully! You look absolutely gorgeous ❤ Been watching since 2022
I wanted to say thank you Shayla! A few videos ago you recommended 2 books, "how to talk so little kids will listen" and "hunt, gather, parent". Thank you so much for mentioning these. I just finished reading both of them and I've already used so so many tips and tools and it's really helped me be more calm, laugh more, enjoy motherhood more and enjoy my daughter. My daughter feels less reactive as well and although she is only 1 & 1/2 and can't talk a lot of the advice still works!
The last two times I’ve randomly seen you pop up on my feed, we were both about to have our babies. 😂 I’m 39 weeks, so I might beat you this time! Thank you for your insight. My favorite piece of advice is “do what works until it doesn’t”. I just jump the hurdles as they come. I barely registered “regressions” and such last time because I was just rolling with whatever. Praying you have a smooth and wonderful birth!
21 weeks today ❤ this has been the hardest , I have HG & needed my gallbladder removed. Right now I’m getting infusions and praying I don’t have anymore issues pop up
I love this so much - so real and sooo true in so many areas. STUFF lol Also the Collostrum collectors are incredible! I hand expressed starting a few days before I was 39 weeks. I pumped the night I wanted to go into labor and ended up having my water break a few hours later! Crazy! Wishing you and the family the best of luck with your new journey! I hope your L&D is smooth and blissful!
In NZ we have what's called a Pepe pod for co sleeping in bed. It's a plastic box essentially, with thin mattress, so gives them their own protected space
Hypnobabies all the way! I’m so glad you recommend it! I bought the course for baby #2 after learning Bradley method for baby #1, and I felt like it worked so much better. Almost like a veil between me and the rest of the world when I was in “center switch”. Good luck with this labor!!
You said you like the thought of the purge! I know it’s a lot of effort to film but would love to see how you organize and purge? Especially because I find baby stuff so hard to purge lol
If I think it’s the last it will literally be like, we don’t play with that BYE! As my kids get older I pull out all their “stuffies” and we pick like 3-5 that are our favorites and donate what’s left “to make space for new toys”
I would love to see more videos about changing your mindset on the postpartum srage. It has been such a struggle for me since having my first baby 7 months ago.
Just in case this helps somebody else: Look up the mind-body connection if you have chronic pain after having a baby or chronic anxiety/depression after a baby. Your mind is so powerful and your unconscious brain is so scared from some of your big emotions that it would rather you feel pain or anxiety rather than the big scary emotion. It's been 3 years since I had my first and I just figured out about the mind body connection and I already feel so so much better so I wanted to share.
@@heyshayla Dr John Sarno wrote a book about it in the 1990's called "the mindbody prescription" It's not really a philosophy so much as a theory about how your body works. That repressed/surpressed emotions affect your health and cause chronic pain. A newer book is called "unlearn your pain."
It will all be okay! Just try to stay relaxed about it and everything will work out. I think for me it was easier than going from 0 to 1 child, as you are already experienced in how to handle and take care of a baby. Also, I found the main focus was still on child 1 and the baby is just getting along with everything. All the best!
4:32 I had that exact little portable bassinet! It was AWESOME! Anytime we were going to be away from home for a bit or just wanted her to sleep outside of the bedroom, we used it.

@@meghansmilanich6914 Sorry, It’s packed up at the moment. I got mine off of FB Marketplace a couple years ago. I haven’t been able to find it on line anywhere else.
Getting rid of the baby things is the best feeling I didnt know I needed lol we had our last child, a 3rd girl, 2 years ago and everytime I get to rid myself of another baby thing is the 👌. Also, birth was amazing! Started labouring at 7pm, birthed by 9pm, home by 7am!
I've been watching every commercial all the way through so you can rack up all that advertisement money before baby comes! I super love your family and content! Thank you so much for sharing your insights with us! 💕
LOVE your videos, and I'm not even a mom yet! I'm just researching because we're talking about trying for our first soon. Eating the placenta sounds **barf** to me too, but you saying that it made a HUGE difference in your PPD sold me on at least having it encapsulated.
I've taken placenta pills all three times and had amazing postpartum experiences! I've heard women have a similar experience if they take beef liver supplements postpartum (which I take all through pregnancy) if that feels a little less icky 😂
The swing > the mommaroo every time. Thank god we bought ours used. Kid could not care less about it. Maybe we'll get our money's worth with the 2nd. Also, i encapsulated my placenta, but didn't notice any change. I wasn't particularly emotional durong my pregnancy (my husband will attest to this) so maybe the swing back wasn't as great? Probably won't do that the 2nd time.
I'm up for the cleaning and organisation and seeing what gets decluttered and what is kept. Lovevery toys (bundles or take them apart?), baby gear, baby clothes all that.
Can you make a video on how to balance attention and bonding time when you have more then one child. I’m a solo parent with a 9 year old , he’s excited but I’m worried I’ll be so engulfed with postpartum emotions that I won’t know /see the signs / his emotional needs or wants when he’s not communicating with words.
I love your night weaning videos even though we're not ready to do that yet. Please check out the ergopouch portable bassinet! I wish I had it but we had a make do when we visited my husband's family in Bangladesh. Perfect for preventing pets and insects coming to baby.❤
I just had my third and I feel the same way about stuff! People keep asking "what do you need for the baby?" And I'm like "nothing. Please don't buy us anything" 😂
I’m a first time mama to an almost 11 month ild. And I want to be pregnant again asap!!!! But not ready to stop breastfeeding. Your videos are inspiring that I’m capable with a little guidance 🩵 looking forward to rewatching your content.
I also have 3 kids with similar age gaps, a few months older than yours. I am really interested to hear about you older girls feeding new baby - in our family they are definitely not patient enough to do it
My husband walked in the room right at the part of your video where you play the pushing sounds lol...we both laughed and I explained it was a Shayla video about baby stuff again. But seriously, I'm going to add those Haakaa products to my registry right away!
I am 21 weeks and am super having a rough day - had such a rough night, vomited before going to bed and woke up many times due to pain in my hips and knees (ordered a pregnancy pillow because clearly the regular pillows aren't working). I feel instantly lighter watching your video and I had to laugh out loud at the poop/labor story! Thank you for being you

I've had two homebirths now, and each time, I never pushed! ✨️❤️ It was amazing!! Also! I experienced pp depression/anxiety with my first two postpartums and my 3rd postpartum I decided to take wishgarden herbs rebalance and havent experienced any of the pp depression/anxiety 🎉❤
I can’t agree more about waiting to push!!!! My first was 8lbs 14oz and I pushed for 4 hours and I pushed right away!!! No joke, I wish I was. My second was 9lbs 12oz and I pushed for 16 minutes! It was a game changer.

I am so so so excited for you and your family. You seem like such an amazing mother, and I've learned SOOOOO MUCH from you! My second was a vbac home water birth all thanks to hypno birthing and it was the greatest experience of my entire life and I can't wait to do/try the same thing when I have our third too. My only fear is that I get SEVER hyperemesis when I'm pregnant, so bad in fact that I spent more time in the hospital than home during both my pregnancies, and I weight less at labor/birth than my pre-pregnancy weight (mind you I'm 6'2" so I look like a twig and some people even questioned if I was actually even pregnant)
@@heyshayla I actually have the entire birth filmed (full view 🫣) that I recorded with the intentions of posting it to RU-vid. I watched every birth video I could possibly find to prepare myself as much as possible, and I'm talking about even momma's squating in a jungle hut with only their young daughters to help them recorded on an old cell phone. I learned SO MUCH just from watching those videos and want to post my video (sort of pay it forward) but straight up I'm nervous because it is the most personal moment and anyways I chickened out. If I ever post it I'll send you a link. One thing that's also hit hard is my aunt that's in the video with me, as well as my husband, and midwife passed away on the exact same day 1 year later on March 15th. I was at her bedside in the hospital the day of my daughters 1st birthday. My aunt and I did get to have a private moment before she passed remembering the birth experience and she told me it was one of her best blessing getting to watch that sweet angel come into the world. Every birthday will also be a day of grief for us but I'm beyond blessed that I got my perfect dream birth experience AND I got the blessing of sharing it with a women who's been such a powerful light in my life. *only my aunt passed away, my husband and widwife are safe and healthy, I realize now that the way I wrote that sounded bad. Sorry
Girl do not feel like you chickened out. There are so many other ways to support moms than to share a private moment that feels too vulnerable. Keep close to your with no regrets 🫶 I love that you got to have that moment with her! It sounds like it was very impactful for her too🥹❤️
I just found out I'm pregnant with our 3rd baby! 3 weeks along. I use the Daysy Fertility Tracker, but since my husband and I were trying I knew before my Daysy even flashed all the colors lol.
Hey Shayla! I am a long time follower, and have been watching your pregnancy/mom content in preparation for my future self. My husband and I are about to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and are getting ready to start TTC. I would love to see a video about your top tips for pre-conception/prepping for a pregnancy, advice for FTM's, etc. Does expecting and empowered have a workout plan for pregnancy prep?
No pregnancy prep! But I think working with a nutrionist would be a major benefit! I know ooh wow nutrition (someone I’ve worked with) helps women with this!
I would love to hear some reasons why you have children, and 3 at that! The US total fertility rate is declining, it is less than replacement rate. Do you think having children is important work? Is it just something people do? Do you just enjoy children? Is it a moral good to have children from your worldview? We live in a world where there are many adults not having children, it is inconvenient, expensive, etc. I recently put purpose behind my parenthood journey and it made all the difference in dealing with the struggles. A mindset change that you talk about, I think it begins with finding purpose beyond ataining a "positive emotional state".
I can't baby wear very long at all. I'd love to just carry baby all day every day but my back starts hurting after a few minutes. Kudos to you for having a strong core.
Perhaps is a poorly designed carrier, my friend had the same problem with a VERY EXPENSIVE brand, then switched to a mid range price one, and she uses it everyday !
I would love a video all about sunscreen. When did you start using it on your babies, what brands do you recommend, what are your thoughts on it? Also would love some.vlogs
We don’t use a lot. I try to keep them covered with swimsuits / hats or shades or just not out in the sun allllll day. But we do have tubby Todd and I really like them!
Hello!!! I love the current content. I’m in similar position. 3 year old. 2 year old. Due in nov. Co sleep with both. Do extended breastfeeding. Homebirth 😍. So I love every video you put out!! What’s the name of that baby bed thing?? X much love from Ireland 🇮🇪

@@heyshayla you’re so good to reply to me!! Yes I have the last one but it’s too high for the floor bed I’m currently co sleeping in. The second link looks ideal for our current set up. No idea what it’s going to look like with me and 3 smallies in the bed 😂😂 but whatever gives us all the best nights sleep eh?!!
I know the hakka is fantastic but definitely buy a boon trove too for when they kick the thing off your boob lol Also 10ml is a ton of collostrom I truly wish hakka had a 1ml container but the 1ml syringes are much more affordable like 100 of them for the price of like 2 of the hakka collectors lol
That's very true. I didn't realize how little you produce the beginning. My second baby was in the NICU and I didn't get to nurse him until he was 4 days old. I had to pump the whole time. I thought at first I wasn't going to make enough because I would sometimes get 1 ml of colostrum. When your milk comes in, it's much easier to pump

I hope my second baby likes the carrier/wraps. My boy was a little oven, we would get so overheated ( in winter) and he just didn’t like it, tried three different ones. Has anyone else had the problem with temperature?

That animal experiment doesn't prove anything. The mother eats the placenta so that other animals don't pick up the scent and use it to search for the baby. If separating the baby from the placenta was enough then the mother would simply move the baby away from the placenta after removing it. But predators use scent to find the baby, and if the mother was able to find the placenta after being separated there was nothing stopping a predator finding it and then finding the baby with the same scent. Also, since they smell the same, the mother doesn't necessarily know she's seeking the placenta, she can just smell something that smells like her baby and her instincts tell her to go find what smells like her baby.
As far as future content: I love the mindset stuff. My kid (first/only?) is 2 and I'm still struggling, with motherhood, with the "trauma" of the birth... Whether I go on to have another or not, I need all the (mindset) help I can get.
