Ferrari stock price rising like it did wasn't due to the announcement of Hamilton moving over. It was because Ferrari published the quarter data and it was really good, their business is doing very well. Maybe Hamilton announcement contributed, but it was for sure not the main cause.

Per Lewis to Ferrari, you may be whistling past the graveyard. At the moment the move appears to be Red swapping their number one driver for Silver’s number two. Lewis is absolutely not in top form and it’s a leap of faith to imagine that, at the age of 40, he can just turn it back on next year. I think this is far more likely to go the way of Vettle’s stint at Ferrari

@Legal-AlienRC

I think you do Lewis a disservice. He is the number 1 at Merc, and is the one trying all the things, to try and get the car to go faster, while Georgie plays it safe. Lewis doesn't care about 2nd to 10th he wants to be 1st. He has been teamed with some of the best in the same car and won, Alonso, Rosberg, Button etc. If you cast your mind back to last season, once the car got dialed in Lewis fairly comprehensively beat Georgie. While not confirmed, he claims the car picked up damage last race and let George go by. He still was fighting for 2nd at the end of last year. I am interested to see how he goes against Charles, I think he will be more consistent and add value to Ferrari in terms of stock (already went up) and merch. He will bring some experience to the team in terms of set up and be able to mentor Charles. Not knocking Carlos I think he's super underrated, probably the most challenging team mate Max ever had, and more consistent than Charles. I hope he goes to Aston, I think that team is the best option if available.

As far as Carlos is concerned, only Red Bull would represent an upgrade . Same goes for Carlos and Checo. Carlos would represent an upgrade for Red Bull as the driver lineup. Beyond that, the options are limited.

Personally I think any speculation about Max leaving Red Bull is pretty laughable. While they are making cars that win races easily by half a minute he clearly isn't going anywhere. It was obvious from the start of the race that Perez was not racing to win. He was racing to hold off the field and let Max get away. I don't think it was a good race. Ii am glad I recorded it. I watched the start and then fast forward through a lot of it. Basicaly, there is no real competition. You have Red Bull head and shoulders above every one else. Then you have four teams competing for second, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, and Mercedes. The rest are irrelevant. Even though there's a cost cap it has not made one bit of difference. If F1 wants competition they should be looking for more teams with the finances to compete. As someone else said, Max is going anywhere, Where would he go? The wins are relatively easy and he's making a huge amount of money.
@peterthomas5792

Great to see you back Marc.👍 Forgive my lack of understanding, but with respect to the CFD and what Merc are seeing on the track vs what the modelling shows, does the system not “learn” from every race? I would have thought that their model would be continually refined as more actual track data is gathered, so it becomes more and more reliable as time progresses.

IMHO, the more concerning aspect of the correlation problem is that it's not new. They had this same problem (allegedly) in previous seasons. Did that specific issue get fixed, or not? Marc - Can you do a video about why it takes the teams so long to produce a 3rd chasiss? It was revealed that Alpine is also in the same boat as Williams without the ability to field a 3rd car if necessary. It’s just a huge item that takes months to produce. Williams fell behind in their schedule so were forced to put production onto components that would get them racing like wings and floors. They took an uncomfortable gamble and lost, but essentially it has to come down to poor planning.

@@kwl189Lewis was already on his way down for quite a while. A prime Lewis would have taken '21 easily with all the bad luck Max and RB had that year(granted, sometimes self inflicted). It kind of shows by how slow Bottas is at Sauber. It's not like Valterii was miles of the pace either during their Mercedes-days. Using Alonso as a yardstick is a bit wrong because that man lives for F1 and nothing else, but probably has slowed down too. It's just not showing with Stroll. Ferrari is the best place for Carlos Sainz for many reasons, stability is perhaps the strongest argument - who’d have thought that sixteen months ago? However, we live in the real world, and Ferrari has moved on. From an engineering and development perspective, I’d say either Aston Martin or Red Bull might be logical options, however both teams may soon be headed for some stormy waters. Aston (and the Aramco consortium) will be navigating a new relationship with Honda (need I say more?), and who knows how the power struggles within Red Bull will play out? I hate to say it, is Audi a viable option? Maybe… There are so many variables that make choosing the right fit for Carlos Sainz. We’re simply going to have to stand back and watch it all unfold.

I have missed these well thought out videos. Lewis to Ferrari I think will not be undone, in terms of business it doesn't seem like a smart move. And if Ferrari wants to win, who better to work it out with than a mutliple world champion. Williams situation is a concern for me as a fan. Both on the cost front and on the car as a whole. If the car is giving confidence to push which then means they are finding themselves in these situations then I can tollerate it a bit. More of a concern that there is a fundamental flaw with the car itself (and not the human squishy bit in the middle) that is causing some issues - that could also be me connecting dots that don't exist. Also interesting that the Verstappen to Mercedes rumor won't die. If he doesn't leave Redbull, begs the question how close to reality it came to happening.

Part of me thinks whilst sure they got Lewis for all the benefits outside the cockpit, it also reaffirms their belief in Leclerc who has always been the golden boy. Serves up a 7x WC on a silver platter for him to beat which I think he will, only downside is Sainz turning it on early this year & showing up Charles. Leclerc has always had deep Ferrari links seeing as he's managed by Nicolas Tod's son who themselves are deeply linked in Ferrari folklore.

Apart from Alonso, Button and Rosberg - where it was nip and tuck who would score most points - Hamilton has enjoyed by far the best car with a pretty poor teammate. If Carlos wants to be champ, he needs to go where ever he does, and become a force, both on and off track.

Pushing out Brawn from Mercedes when it was him, Schumacher and Lauda that brought them the structure and success. He’s been riding on their coat tails all the way since the mid to late 2010s. I think Alonso is also thinking about 2026 having the Honda PU. Making a good quality PU takes decades of experience even Renault are still behind everyone. Honda have screwed over Red Bull with their decision making and politics. I can’t see Newey or MV tolerating mediocre performance from the new PU. Ford are incompetent as well.

Maybe Williams should sellout to Andretti as it looks like they’re on ever increasing downwards spiral .. Looking from the outside JV hasn’t improved anything.. remember when CW in charge she had exactly the same problem.. in a perfect world I’d love to see both Fernando & Carlos at AM but of course the fly in the ointment is Stroll junior .. I’m surprised Stroll senior hasn’t farmed Lance out to replace Sargent at Williams ( as they have a very close relationship ) as he’s not doing his son any favours keeping him AM getting constantly beaten race after race!! Looking at Fernando & his age imo isn’t a factor, as long as he wants to carry on & continues to compete at the top of his game.. Just look across the pond in the Indy Car series a couple of drivers in their late 40s who are still putting in a number of appearances.. I read an article not that long ago average age was 31 .. As for LH being a 7 times world champion & bringing his talent to Ferrari which isn’t & won’t be the fastest car next season is debatable… We’ve all seen since he was blown away by Max / RBR his 7 titles & his vast experiences has done absolutely nothing to elevate him any further, in fact it’s had the opposite effect but then he hasn’t got the fastest car anymore. So as you pointed out it’s a $$$$ I’ve been following Ferrari & F1 for 60 years plus,obviously I don’t speak for everyone but I’m not looking forward to his arrival at the team I support..

I am not sure if your assessment about Hamilton is correct. At the moment I don't think that his work ethics are that great. Not that strange after years of winning and now having a car that is not performing near the level where a Mercedes should be. Moving to Ferrari will take an investment of at least 1 year. He is getting in a team that is built around Leclerc. The team needs to get used to him and he has to hope that the team and he can work well together. We are talking about Ferrari after all. A team that has done everything a bit different than other teams. The Italian mentality is very different from the British and German mentality. Besides that, Ferrari will not see Hamilton as the future. Especially not if Leclerc outperforms him. I wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton retires after the end of his contract with Ferrari. Hamilton's marketing value is very big, but it will disappear very quickly if he doesn't perform at Ferrari. Hamilton is one of the greatest drivers ever, but I think he made the decision to go to Ferrari too late. About the rumours of Verstappen going to Mercedes, I wouldn't count on it. The fact that Hamilton wants an 8th title and goes to Ferrari to accomplish that, means that he doesn't think that it is possible with Mercedes. Verstappen will come to that same conclusion, if hasn't done so. Verstappen will only go to Mercedes if he thinks he will not be able to win with RBR and he can come to an agreement with Ferrari to replace one of the Ferrari drivers. At the moment, I think that Ferrari is unhappy with signing Hamilton very early, because of 2 reasons. Sainz is doing very well and it is doubtful that Hamilton will do any better. And the other reason is that if Verstappen is on the market, they are missing out on getting the currently best driver in the field.

Newey goes to Aston to design new 2026 car for Alonso and Sainz plus design the new road car which Lance will drive a gt version of in the WEC, winning drivers and constructors titles in both series. Now Putin's good friend Mateschitz is no longer employing Marko the hold they had along with woman beating Joss Verstappen will fade more quickly especially after the failed coup to oust Horner, who is still preferred and backed by RBs 51% Thai owners who are increasingly unhappy with Helmets antics with all the other drivers erratic placements. Max stays at RB and dominates 24/25 with record breaking seasons which will be his last if Newey, who stood by Horner, did consider a probable billion dollar 5 year contract with the Aramco money Aston move with total freedom in a non toxic atmosphere. Lewis will never win another world title as he's too interested in his Clown clothing and karaoke career, LeClerc will not win a title as he's not got as much talent as the early years might have projected. Hulkenburg gets a wet race podium.

If the wind tunnel is using 60% scale models and the air molecules stay the same size (which they will) (unless you can buy special smaller wind tunnel molecules) then the action of the air flow may not behave exactly the same way proportionally. Is there a purely linear relationship between all the various factors. I bet not. I bet also that there has been much research and many thick math laden books far beyond my brains capability have been written. But I also know that fluid dynamics is phenomenally complicated and is why weather bureaus always get the best super computers. So, simulation isn't everything. My point? Why not go the extra step of full-sized models in the tunnel. A bigger tunnel. Cost? Doesn't CFD cost heaps anyway. Mercedes may have avoided all their bouncing using a proper model. Maybe I'll read a book on it.
@BlueIced256

You are right about the model and the molecules. But these molecules are so tiny that the difference can be neglected.
@PeteJ1505
@PeteJ1505 4 месяца назад
Your comments about scaling are correct. There are many reasons why scaling is not linear. For example, a very basic one is the fact that the ratio between the volume and the surface area changes as the size of the car changes. this affects the relationship between the volume of air displaced and the viscous drag of the air flowing over the surface. The teams use 60% models because that is in the regulations. They are not allowed to use bigger models. There are also limits on wind tunnel time and the use of CFD.
@Igbon5
@Igbon5 4 месяца назад
@@BlueIced256 Maybe, but it is the collisions of the molecules that impart the force. You need a lot of them to affect a heavy object but you still need them. So does airflow and that number of molecules in an increased 40% more situation behave the same. It isn't the size that I am thinking about but how they interact amongst themselves, and if there are a lot more they may interact differently. Or not. There are simple equations like inverse square and inverse cube but those equations applied to all those many surfaces on an F1 car and scaling it all proportional properly. No wonder it's hard.
