If you want to solve high temp issues , yu have to add a resistor in the coolant temperature sensor. You will have a smooth running engine running at 20 degrees celsius down from your running temp now.
Yes I have heard of doing this and definitely considered. I even think someone sells the resistor online. But I would love to get it running correctly like from factory if I can. Car always ran perfect temps up till last year.
Thank you very much. I totally forgot years ago when I did the obd1 scan the o2 sensor came up as bad. I need to change both out and see if it runs smoother. I bet it does
Man I see you never sold those black rims lol… I’m hearing a rattle noise on driver side rear.. sometimes the abs and plus that other light comes on. 98 s 420. I wish I could drop it off to you. I trust you more than these shops
Talking about fuel system and fuel pumps, I was quite suprised about the "dual" fuel pump system on early model. One of the pumps died on my car and it shut off. Like what? What is the purpose of the dual system then? Can't be that the massive BOSCH pump can not make enough pressure for a 3.2L engine...
Hey Pete! - The rear hydraulic pump located in the trunk of my '99 S320, W140 crapped out, and thanks to you, I removed it and bought a used one on E-Bay. Now, the unit runs ( I can hear it humming in there) and operates the soft close doors and trunk again BUT the rear headrest release and remote lock/unlock are not working from the key fob or dash buttons. Any ideas? BTH: I have a friend with the same car as mine, and he was down to his last set of keys! - The good news is that he found someone locally ( Denver, CO area) that got him a new fob with a new chip for under $1000.
@@petescarport Yes # 9 - hold it for 30 seconds before putting it back and Pretty sure # 12 which is either burned out or good. Sadly, those didn't help. I may have to take it to that $220/hr. Stealership. Thanks for the reply Pete. If anyone out there is one their last key-chip let me know if I can help. MB stopped making them available.
Yup they recommend 0w or 5w for colder climates but 10w is better for extreme hot climates. I’m the winter I have run 5w40 but our winters only last a couple months in Florida. Than it’s 90f plus temps rest of year
Lol. I just went back and checked and I realized I was talking about the direction and totally faced it back to fuel pump. I will fix this. One of the downsides to filming is you are focused on explaining but the benefit is you can go back and check your work.
Did you ever figure out the shake/wobble this car used to have I’ve watch a ton of you’re videos and never saw the solution. My 1992 500sel has a wobble around 55mph and I was just wondering what caused yours.
It never fully went away but it’s going to be coming up in some videos. I want to change the brakes because I believe the rotors are warped causing some of the vibrations and than get the car aligned and tires balanced again since it sat.
Pete. Are you interested in a 1992 500SEL that has been sitting at my mother's for 15 years now. its relatively low miles at 136k. lots of history. lmk and I can DM you.
Hi thanks for the offer. Right now I’m not buying anything but may be interested in a few months. I have to make room and have a few parts cars I still need to move out.
Great to see alot of the W140's getting some love these days. I have a 99 CL500, and I'm getting a random misfire cose on 2,3,4 cylinders, changed all vacuum line, breathers,FPR, fuel pump and filter but still have code, any suggestions? Thanks
@Dimitris Tsampouniaris Hey thanks for the suggestion, but I did that. I swapped out all of the coils on bank 1 to bank 2, and the misfire didn't move to bank 2. So I'm thinking it's something specific that's affecting just 1 side of the engine.
@Pete’s Carport Hey, thanks, Pete. The codes I'm getting is P0302,P0303,P0304. I'm thinking that it might be cat, or O2 like you said because it's only affecting bank 1, so gonna check that next. Thxs
@@redshot_8897 yes that’s what got me thinking it’s something causing a shut down to one side. If it was an early model Benz I would say cap and rotor or the main bank wire. I had a short a long time ago that shut down one bank and a lot of people said to check cats.
