tbh i think season 6 was the worst, the fact they set up so many episodes for mordecai and CJ's relationship only for it to not go anywhere because of misunderstandings drives me fricking crazy
I liked it, but I get why you don't, but yeah, having a relationship to develop that long to just unnecesarily screw that up feel so freaking horrible, like, they didn't had to erase CJ from the plot, and like that
I think my biggest problem with this season was how it just abandoned the Regular Show formula for something more generic. The main appeal of Regular Show is that its episodes always start off normal and mundane and then escalate into something insane and fantastical. But when you have a season where every episode already starts off with the characters in space with a bunch of sci-fi tech and gadgets, it's not as funny when things escalate because you're already used to the madness from the start of the episode.
Hard agree. Part of what I loved about Regular show is that it basically felt like an animated sitcom with crazy adventures in it. It was, to some extent, just a regular show about regular people, who just so happen to get in some not-so regular scenarios. Except nothing is regular when everyone’s a space warrior. So the irony of the name just turns into complete BS.
Also remember how CJ was like a main character for two seasons and then just never shows up for the entire final season, not even in the finale. I remember that
If not for that masterpiece of a finale, that season would've been received MUCH worse. I knew the writing was on the wall for Regular Show during the Mordecai & CJ "dating" arc but that final season was pretty mid. Still one of the best shows Cartoon Network ever put out.
No it want yeah dick it already a masterpiece as it is even without the finale its people like you who don't like changes and trying sometime new and don't act you do and making excuses pal cuz you really don't and if you do then shouldn't be complain about it
And also the mordecai dating arc was really well done to the character in general and not what people like you keep bitching about it for petty reasons 😒
Regular Show is the definition of "simple is good", most of the episodes are just: - Mordecai and Rigby do some stupid shit - They try and fix it but fuck it up even more - They ask for help and end up fighting an eldritch horror - Everything goes back to normal next episode Yet the show was able to be creative and entertaining
The season would’ve been better if there were less eps imo. The eps that moved the plot and focused on pops were pretty good, but most of the “filler” eps can’t be as good as the previous seasons because of the setting and the absence of a lot of important side characters. When you’re on space you can’t do the normal episode setup with them doing a normal slice of life thing and the events suddenly escalating.
The episode with the guys going to that other planet for the other guys wallet, the space boots one and the fucking benson fries one are probably some of the most boring episodes in the series
I think they could've delayed the space event for the last part of the season to focus on the finale itself, some more regular on earth episodes at early season could've made it better imo
I always hated the overabundance of meta humor in s8. With the rest of the show it was funny because the characters rarely acknowledged the absurdity of their situations but now in every episode the characters are like "well THAT just happned right guys ;)" and make direct jabs about the shows production and its just annoying
Yeah most of it didn’t work but it made sense in the series finale since the fourth wall breaks stemmed from Anti-Pop’s power making the fabric of reality unravel.
You know your show is great when you can have a pretty weak last season but still be considered a masterpiece by many fans. Regular Show literally changed my life
The biggest issue with the space setup is that it inadvertently makes the show more tame. Taking the show away from its original facade of normality cancels out the absurdity and just turns it into a generic sci-fi show.
I think it would've been funnier if the episodes started out chaotic and universe-ending but later turned laid back and regular, as an inverse of Regular Show's plot structure. It really doesn't work trying to do the same when everyone's in space.
the final season felt like the writers wanted to move on and make a completely different show but were contractually obligated to make another season of Regular Show, so they wrote an entirely different show that just happened to have the cast of Regular Show in it
I dont know why i found that "not before i cloned myself" joke so funny it's like just thinking abour a guy going "i might die, lemme clone myself a few times rq" before a fight is too much
I’d take this over Season 6 anyway. The creativity and plots that were in this season were awesome and I’m happy they took this route. It returned to what made Regular Show awesome to begin with. It’s just unfortunate that it never returned to reruns after Season 8. It doesn’t even have a complete box set while other shows do. I hope it gets one someday.
@@yourehereforthatarentyou There was an episode near the end of season 8 where they made a boxset that had all of their memories of the last few years (so basically every episode of the show since the beginning) recorded on it, and they buried it in the park like a time capsule
I remember watching the episode where Mordecai accidentally proposed to get eaten by the alien princess when I was at my cousin's house I thought it was so important I wasn't even sitting down for it I was standing up next to the door with my hands behind my back like it was serious
As a kid, season 8 was easily the one that made me check out. Specifically because I thought the whole concept completely jumped the shark and went against the main thing that made the show work... escalation. See, the episodes traditionally start with a rather typical dilemma (getting a song stuck in your head, trying to overcome stage fright, getting sprayed by a skunk, etc.). However, the whole space concept completely destroyed that format because what relatable situation could you tell in space? Very few people haven't been there, specifically in the show main demographic (children). The dome kinda did this as well, but it didn't shake up the show's format that much compared to this.
Oh my god, someone else is finally questioning Dr. Henry’s existence. I thought I’d never see the day. I thought this final season was pretty solid, but the flaws stated here are valid. This is also the most passionate I’ve ever heard Chaz in a video. Guess that’s what happens when your soul isn’t dying from SML overdoses.
I haven’t seen all the video yet but I feel like the mood of the final season was killed because it didn’t have the mundane slice of lifey vibe that it previously had. It was fun before hand because the characters were in such mundane situations with the same responsibilities we have and that makes them fun to watch with the fast episode pacing. In season 8, I couldn’t relate to mordecai and rigby because I’m not living on a park roaming the outer space on a journey to save the universe and my best friend hasn’t turned out to be some godlike primordial deity
I always shrugged it off as being a bit of a self-aware version of the "jumping the shark" _in space_ crap that a lot 80s shows did with their characters. It's supposed to feel off
@@Georgeimerfor me, i would like if the final season was like a adventure time mini series, with 5/4 episode and a bit more longe episodes focusing more in pops storyline.
Honestly my biggest problem was the Sci-Fi setting, it takes away the Regular Show fun of crazy shit happening out of nowhere when you are already in pretty irregular setting. Also just felt restrictive in my opinion since the random stuff episodes had to involve space things somehow, like the episode with the crazy roommate alien woman would have been more fun if it wasn't just stuck in the park because of space.
What I have learnt about Regular Show from this video: Margaret's Dad did it with a bird Dr Henry is the most powerful character in the franchise Pops getting yeeted into the sun was foreshadowing Rawls is still alive
Putting regular show in space just seems like an incredibly stupid outta nowhere idea but if they really took advantage of all the bizarre worlds they could create and still kept a connection to the rest of the world it coulda been great.
For some reason the most memorable thing to me about early season 8 is the fact that they overused this one specific swoosh sound effect that also happens to be the old homing attack sound in Sonic games
Season 7 was so damn good, man. Rigby unironically has a great character arc, seeing more Eileen is great, Benson finally gets an ounce of happiness with Dome Girl, and they left a lot of Mordecai's cringiness that felt pretty overboard in like the 2 or 3 seasons beforehand. Season 8 was just kinda there lol. The one with Muscleman pranking a rival space station was pretty good, he really showed that he's such a great character. I actually thought the courtroom one with the ears was funny sometimes.
I kinda was done with the show when they went to space. The dome season already annoyed me with CJ leaving Mordecai for the second time. But leaving the planet was the nail in the coffin for me. With Pops being an alien or whatever coming out of nowhere and the new setting, I just settled on not liking the show's final seasons overall.
I’m just shocked that they actually put Benson through an alcoholic arc Also It’s Ironic you showed Rap It Up because that might be the earliest example of Pop’s powers
@@Raya-ir4tm I’m mostly referring to that final pink colored energy orb Pops did, that one felt a little too different (and I know it wasn’t intended but let me have fun lol)
6:18 dude that is literally just Schnitzel’s girlfriend from Chowder. Like actually I think they have the exact same design. (Not that hard since it’s just a rock with a pink bow tie)
I'm glad I'm not the only one to find the last season kind of mid. Obviously the Pops stuff was great and carried the season, don't get me wrong, but the 1st half of the season has so much filler before we actually get to the good stuff. There might've been like 2 or 3 episodes in the 1st half I really liked, and I actually really liked the christmas special in space, and other than the finale, my favorite episode from the season would probably be the training montage episode because of the funny 4th wall breaks and the fact they used Through the Fire and Flames was too perfect.
For me the worst episodes in the show we’re definitely the ones that focused on Mordecai, Margaret and CJ. They were still enjoyable, but watching them was just so painful and made Mordecai kind of unlikable. But episodes that just focused on the park members and their chemistry was where the show was at its strongest, and thankfully the majority of the episodes are with the park members. This show was just a masterclass in writing and character development and I will never forget this show.
When I first watched the show a few years ago, I instantly knew I wasn't going to like season 8 when I realized it would take place entirely in space. Everything having to deal with Pops was good as well as that stellar ending but every other episode is easily skippable
Honestly, I love season 8 and it's one of my faves. It's what introduced me to sci-fi, but I get where you're coming from. I feel the same about the new characters and imo, the only ones which are memorable are Anti Pops, Earl and the Seer.
Future pops still kind of works because hypothetically if rigby and mordecai split off then a lot of the events that came next with pops probably wouldnt have happened
I finished regular show last night. My main gripe with the last season is the fact that Eileen didn’t get a bigger role even though she was officially part of the main cast. Hell, the lady who had been watching the park even said it to her when they were escaping the Streaming villain. The show acknowledged that Eileen had a lot of potential, but didn’t do anything with it :/ I wish we got to see more of her, she was always my favorite character
I’ve always felt that wasn’t on the same lvl as others, in my rewatch I noticed that a lot more I didn’t hate it but thought it was a massive downgrade
I'm glad I'm not the only that thinks Season 8 was bad. The whole season basically just feels like filler thats trying to retread the old feels of Regular Show, but it just doesn't work. It also doesn't help that the characters seem a lot more exaggerated than usual and don't act in character. It really gave me feelings of the last few seasons of The Office, where every character's personalities were exaggerated to an unbearable degree. But on top of all that, the main reason I don't like this season is because, Mordecai and Rigby kind of get sidelined and Pops becomes the main character becuase he's "The Chosen One". Even in rewatches, I still do not like that they made Pops a literal God. This whole season just didnt vibe with me. If it wasn't for the amazing finale, I would have zero incentive in watching season 8.
Only thing I didn’t like about regular show was mordecai didn’t get a good character development he became worse as the seasons went on, and that anti pops didn’t do anything evil at all
I liked it too, but I think it's fair to say that maybe some people didn't enjoy the shift in setting or the plot lines in the episodes. I thought it was pretty banging though.
For once I can fully agree with the title and contents of a video. I've rewatched the show 2 times this summer but have never been able to force myself through all of season 8 cause its episodes are absolute shit! I was trying to gaslight myself into thinking maybe the old filler episodes of regular show were just as bad and I'm getting warn out on it so I went a few seasons back and picked a random filler like "my mom", "sugar rush", and "dizzy" and had a blast watching all of them! I went through all previous seasons picking out obscure episodes I don't know by memory and still enjoyed all of them while evn finding hidden gems but season 8 just wasn't it and I don't know why. After watching the regular show movie I kept telling myself that if THIS was what season 8 was instead of "hover boots", "mantis princess", and "space creds" this would have arguably been the best season of the show; Park Rangers!!! Instead of what we ended up getting
In the middle of my binge watch of this show I literally got a massive headache from season 8's Xmas episode and decided to look up a video like this lol
Personally, i find season 5 to be the worst since a lot of the episodes were boring and lacked Margaret (brought a lot of chemistry and was a side character i enjoyed). However for me, season 8 was so close to become the worst season in regular show because of the concept of going to space. I appreciate the writers trying something new but it doesnt feel right. I also did not like the fact that this was the ONLY season were we never had a proper farewell or have some last time moments with the side characters. Like it would’ve been nice to see Margaret and her family and making amends in a positive way with Mordecai, we could’ve learned more about how Mordecai and rigby were growing up, some secrets about the town, wing kingdom, techmo, Mr Maellard, LFG, etc BUT NOPE SPACE IT IS BECAUSE THE SIDE CHARACTERS WE DONT CARE ABOUT. I also agree that regular show movie contradicted season 8. In my opinion, what they should’ve done as a proper finale was: -Tease anti pops in the regular show movie and send some agents to investigate the park crew that took down Mr Ross (could made Mr Ross an ally of Anti-Pops). Then throughout season 7 have anti pops spies report on the park and confirm the existence of their enemy. Season 8 should’ve been like an invasion of earth and everyone fights back. This brings an opportunity to create some warm moments with the side characters and learn more about them and the setting (wing kingdom, city) etc for the last time. The finale would’ve also fit in but everyone unites for the final adventure something like out of a Justice League or an Avengers movie. Minor change: the ending should’ve also had Mordecai marrying Margaret. And ye thats how it should’ve ended for me. Even tho season 8 was disappointing, this season would’ve demolished any other modern tv shows being produced today
when the season first released i thought i was the crazy one for not liking the space stuff. i liked the idea of it and it had alot of cool ideas and some good episodes but overall when id get to the final season the feeling of "oh great i'm here" would wash over me. the final episode was super good, especially with the episode 1 fake out scene
Worst is right. I once thought EEnE had a worse final season, but I think RS has the Eds beat. There's no reason why the Park should go to space because of that Dome Experiment BS, especially after Rigby's High School graduation. The one good thing in that mess of a season is that Rigby got tall after he and Mordecai got into that teleporter device. If you ask me, they should've stayed swapped. Until Muscle Man (who became killjoy no. 2) meddled in when he shouldn't have. After all the unjustified and unnecessarily cruel punches he's given Rigby, Mordecai deserves a Mordecai of his own. As well as half a butt-cheek.
its obvious why, basically all of the first half of the season is filler, but it has the finale and its obvious that they were padding it to finally release the best finale the show could ever have (except for less thomas than I wanted) Also I agree season 7 is very underrated with many people seeing it as the worst season which is factually incorrect. Yeah rigbys arc that season is cliche, his speech at the end is pretty cookie cutter, but its nice to see. Its not just what hes doing but the comparison between his lazy, dumb, impulsive self at the start of the show, to the actual person by the end.
S8's filler starting episodes till the middle were mid, with few exceptions. When the actual storyline started in the middle till the end when all of the episodes completed another it was epic
@@arinhossain2100 ok mabye "massive decline" is too much. I m sorry that came out wrong it s just that i think that the first season were better. I still love the entire show
Nahh I love the final season. It’s def not perfect, but I don’t think it’s as bad as people make it out to be. The plot stuff is fantastic, if only they had less filler eps. Also Season 7 is my favorite season of the show! It’s so good haha. That stupid raccoon going to high school just gets me🤧
Ngl, I dont think season 8 was bad. Its still regular show at the end of the day, its not that serious, sometimes it is, and theres just a new setting. I like Regular show cus it always tries to have filler while also not deviating from the main plot of the season. And to me, during a period in which it seems like every western cartoon tries to be an anime with episodes focusing on one central plot, its fun to just have a show that can have that but also allow itself to have filler without it being a binderance to the story
It would’ve been better if the last season was just a special with all the plot/Pops stuff. That stuff was great, but all the filler episodes were boring, and I don’t think I’ll ever come back to them.
the problem with the last season is that it is just so irregular. All the other seasons start off normal go fucking insane, go back to normal. The last season is just always insane, even after the main part of the episode ends
