Rehousing Caribena Versicolor | Tarantula Update 

I see many versicolors in containers best suited for terrestrial species. Versicolors are tree spiders, they like to be high up, so a taller container is much better. I have a pinktoe sling (very similar) and it spends 95% of the time near the very top of its container, which is 3 times as tall as it is wide. It also spins all of its webbing up there. Often times it's clear up in the lid.

They need something taller than what you chose... they are Arboreal. Make sure you have lots of Cross Ventilation and the humidity isn’t necessary, just over flow water dish/cap.

Versicolors are my favorite....okay top 3...I can't decide on an actual favorite >_< I know people mentioned ventilation already so I know you know. Just wanted to give our best method. Take a large safety pin and heat it with a candle flame or stove. When its glowing you can poke 3-4 holes in thin plastic and 2 or so holes in thinner plastic. Be sure to clean off soot and plastic wisps. You can use fine point tweezers if you want bigger holes. It's always made cleaner holes than just poking a nail or something sharp through. Good luck :)

OK so lovely spiders, but I would like to point some stuff out: NOT ENOUGH VENTILATION, please add side ventilation it is very important for these especially. using wire mesh can get feet stuck, so drilling or burning holes is a better alternative. I noticed water spots, I don't know if you are wetting the sub or misting but these should be kept on relatively dry sub, I say relatively, because as slings you should be wetting the sub but as they are able to use water dishes it becomes unnecessary. Misting or over watering this species can result in death. I don't know the actual care you are doing, but maybe I am repeating information you know. So I know I am making assumptions here but that is because this is what I can attempt to infer about what you have represented: I noticed the molts still in there, indicating to me they molted very recently, DO NOT FEED YOUR SPIDERS DURING POSTECDYSIS. smaller Ts will harden faster but a week is a safe endurance of hardening. I do like your set up, it could be taller, but it seems fine enough, lots of grounding points and clutter to make you spider "happy". just remember "humidity kills", this spider is not moisture depended. ** I have seen many beginner's C. Versicolor and similar species such as Avicularia die due to misting and poor care.

Putting the entrance on top damages their web every time u open it. And u also have the change to get jumped on, what the spiecies do a lot
