Reimagined Scraps - Collage Snippet Roll on Book Page

I just did this and love doing it. But now I'm our of glue. So I'm going to add some stamping. As it got longer I rolled it and used a book clip to hold it. So much fun!

You could call it an Energizer Bunny roll, it just keeps going and going! Great video!

Love doing this! I’ve always found so many uses for these from covers to belly bands and everything in between! Pam at Paper Outpost has a great video on a similar way of using up scraps. Thank you for sharing.

Since the collage is literally using everything and anything at random inking should be done after the collage is finished. This way you create a more harmonious color palette by using a single color to go over the entire thing. This type of collage can also be lightly gessoed or painted. You could also use your sewing machine and the color of the thread can act as the unifying element. Check out Melanie Sullivan’s last video on how she used her scraps. That lady is a genius. Thank you Gayle for giving me yet another inspiration for all the bags of scraps I have just put into my cabinet.

This is a cool idea, I would make a folio or journal cover of some sort out of this. Sure up the other side with a heavy card stock for structure....hhhhmmmm...got me thinking Gayle.

Just thinking about your expanded craft room. (Woohoo!). I think you need a “dining room” area with a big table that is well-lit from above. You’d have more room to lay out big projects, but more importantly, you’d have lots of space where your grandkids can “play” with you when they visit. I’m sure they would love knowing that Grandma had set aside a special place for you all to craft together. 😊❤️

I love these scrap collage rolls and it is relaxing to watch them being made. Collaging the back at the same time is a brilliant way to do it. I am still pretty new to journaling so I don’t have as many scraps as I would like to do one I don’t think. 🤔 I guess I better go look, I may have more then I think.

I thought I was the only person whole found collaging videos relaxing! I started watching this last night and fell asleep, it was a really good sleep too despite my 5year old being sick. And then I went straight to collaging when I got up this morning. 💖

I’ve been enjoying watching you work with your current glue book, which is obviously a history of WWII. It was amusing today to watch Winston Churchill getting more and more surrounded by flowers and ultimately covered over with pink. He was an artist himself so he should understand. 😆

I made a couple of these a week ago with so many book pages that the roll was knocking stuff off my desk. Then I got the idea to use my 12x12 scrapbook paper as the base. I used paper that had vague lines in it, so VOILA, I had instant journaling lines on the back. I cut it into tags/cards from the bakl so that I have a surprise when I turn them over. to the right side Love the idea!

I tried this yesterday (also collaged the back before cutting) and it was way too much fun. But had to stop because one only needs so many collaged tags, journal cards, etc. The black and white (?) Italian paper was shaped like a boot. Seemed appropriate.

I love watching someone collage a page, also I struggle with it I suppose I should just practice more and this would certainly be practice. Glad you are enjoying walking Jimmy Joe, my dog used to do the same, speed up en she knew we were on the way home.

I just love watching your videos and listening to your stories. I have been working on my first mini book of Alice in Wonderland. I was having a hard time inking some of the small cut outs of the images so i found some little sponge rushes and it works great.

Gail is always fun to watch your videos, however If I watch you then I do nothing else because I want to make sure I got your technique and all your information and your singing with the other video bit it, bit it, you always put a smile on my face. Love this! I watched Rachel and Carol work on theirs the other day and yes, busted out those scraps! Very addictive! My husband has many rolls of masking paper so I have been using that for the backs but I love your idea!

What a good idea to make it big. all those colors and figures so beautiful. I make them into small pieces. tags or postcards. but in large it is also nice then you cut tags or make a page in your yournal. the are beautyfull Gayle
