Diana Damrau singing the 'Rejoice', from Händel's Messiah, in a benefic concert in 2002 with Zubin Mehta conducting. This video goes for DreiKnaben1, my #100 subscriber! ^^
I am not the biggest fan of Diana, HOWEVER.... her real joy while singing this made me smile from start to finish. Made my soggy rainy Christmas a bit brighter. Truly lovely.
3:21-3:23: The violinist has this satisfied, expectant look on his face like, "Sing it, sister" I love watching Diana sing as much as I love listening to her. She is so full of joy and so transported. Sure she has an earthly audience, but you know who she is really singing to. :)
Her voice is so clear, in every note. What a performance. Mehta, at last stayed at second level, what is not usual for him. Brava Damrau!!! You took this gentleman to his right place, tthat means: behind.
great show diana. Her accent floated back into german in places (e.g.: shout, Rejoice), but her EXCELLENT tone, articulation, and use of ornaments more than makes up for it. I daresay it even makes my complaint seem fussy.
My friend, who isn't even crazy about Damrau, has it. One weekend, when I was staying at his house, I spent the whole night watching and rewatching the DVD. I haven't seen it since! I remember the gleam in her eye and the way she turned around really quickly for the quick time with her knife. Yayayayy!
I really really really wanna hear her sing "Crude furie" or was it "Cr ude furie" from Serse... unfortunately I cannot telepathically let her know she needs to record it! lol.
Allererste Klasse. Und trotzdem finde ich, dass es eine Kleinigkeit zu langsam ist...... ein wenig schneller wäre optimal! Rein stimmlich jedoch echt perfekt!
