I have two characters where it’s only enemies to lovers on one side. Character A hates character B with a passion at the beginning of the story, while character B thinks it’s a friends to lovers as they literally are incapable of picking up the social cues Character A is giving them. Eventually Character A starts to like Character B as they persist with showing A nothing but kindness and friendliness, while B sees barely any change except that A now gives them hugs.

Forget "Cinnamon roll becomes broken and depressed and jaded" It's time for "Cinnamon roll gazed into the abyss and came out a sinnamon roll. They still are kind and positive, but when their smile turns wicked you know you should run. Fear the fury of a kind man"

I think my favorite relationship trope is "I want you to see yourself the way I see you." It doesn't matter if it's romantic, queerplatonic, friendship, familial, or anything in between. It's just as simple as one character doesn't think to highly of themselves and the other just is like "You are loved and one day I will make you understand why you are loved."

Consider this: A is like "I would die for you." and B is like "But will you live for me?" and then B dies in some horrible, heart-wrenching way. It's literally perfect.

My best friend and I have one of those "if we're not married by a certain age we're marrying each other" pacts AND the *unintelligible* vs "yeah I completely understand* dynamic Now that would be great basis for a ship in fiction, but actually she's a lesbian and I'm a trans guy. task FAILED lmao

Current favorite dynamic with two characters I have is when both characters have similar issues or trauma but it affects them in almost opposite ways. Both have abandonment issues. Character A dumps all of their emotions and energy into a relationship when they start to feel secure in it because they’re desperate to maintain something stable- which usually ends in them spiraling as the other person can’t keep up with it and Character A sort of destroys the relationship in the effort to hold on to it. Meanwhile Character B distances themself as soon as they start to get attached to someone to avoid building a relationship that they’re afraid will end up in the other leaving them. Character A and B end up becoming friends and sort of lovers who initially help each other emotionally, then fall apart, then fall back together again. Character A convinces Character B that they’re someone worth staying around for. Character B teaches Character A that a healthy relationship doesn’t make you sacrifice all of yourself for it. Both of them start being able to trust that the other person really cares, and become more secure in themselves.

The only relationship dynamic that exists is: Person 1: A character you can project yourself onto Person 2: Your type (I definitely didn’t steal this from a Tumblr post…nope…)

My favourite ship dynamic (mostly for romantic partners) is when A is a horrifying, allknowing, omnipotent and omniexistent entity that somehow stumbles onto B, a calm, innocent and kind person that just absolutely *M E L T S* A's heart A: (echoing menacing voice) "What are you doing in these parts of the forest, Mortal?" B: "idk i just got kinda lost. But can i say, that cloak of yours is like, super beautiful!" A: **flustered god noises**

5:25 reminds me of an idea, i've had quite some time ago: a pair of anthro spider characters. the male character is a short, talkative guy, while BIIIG his wife technically can and does speak, but she does it very rarely and mostly speaks with her expressions, her man can read perfectly. And his wife is a good listener.

Here’s one of my favorite tropes: character B who’s loyal and a fighter and character C who’s a manipulator hate each other, but they bond over being protective of cinnamon roll character A.

Because of various friends I have a short feral overworking 25 y.o. woman who keeps getting adopted by various creatures and people. And, a new favorite dynamic is "human so feral and pathetic is adopted by so many things including literal monsters and even deities, good characters or just jerks look at them and think "oh that thing needs HELP and I will help", and their big weird family absolutely will not stop growing, some adoptees even HATE each other but love this wet mop of a human being"

Lena is like a social outcast, with black hair, who dresses in black and grey, and writes poetry and plays viola, but she's actually a big ray of sunshine, that would die for her friends, and she always encourages them to eat veggies and pay attention in class and be nice. Meanwhile her cousin Ridley is this lipstick feral bicon, who loves shopping, dyes her hair pink, and dresses in bright colors, but she absolutely hates all humans, and says she's heartless and doesn't love anyone. But she will still die for Lena, because they're like sisters. I love their friendship. Is so cute. And I love the subversion of the trope.

0:54 I have one of those!! Basically they’re both the same alien species but are each from two entirely different parts of their planet, with cultures that have never interacted until recently. They love teaching/learning from each other but there’s also definitely some hilarious confusion like this

My favorite is: Two people who have been through hell and back, riddled with trauma, just trying to live a normal life again.

I have so many favorites to both write and read, but here are a select few: -two best friends, completely different from one another, but it's them against the world (bonus points if everyone around them is convinced they're in a romantic relationship (double bonus points if this is part of the conflict, ie: one of them is in love with someone else but that person thinks they're already in a committed relationship)) -"frenemies" except the conflict is character a is too dumb to notice someone else is in love with them and character b is getting increasingly frustrated trying to get them together, cause they just want character a to be happy -when character a is the ONLY one who can truly get through to character b in times of need -two characters who are definitely dating and everyone knows it...except them -character a is insanely good at fighting, they always protect character b, who can't protect themself well, but when the time comes, character b lays down their life for character a, usually in a dramatic climax that has everyone sobbing -two people, regardless of the type of relationship they have, are just two idiots who love nothing more than torturing everyone around them - together!

my favorite is platonic ship dynamic it’s two characters who used to be enemies become friends when they realize that they aren’t so different

My favorite and basically only romantic OC ship dynamic is wholesome/caring/positive character and the badass who could end you if you decided to harm character A. Bonus points if: -Badass is girl (character A can be any gender) -Wholesome character A isn't innocent, they've seen shit, but positivity is just the way they choose to see the world -Character A makes character B soft when it's just the two of them

“IM GOING TO ROB A BANK!” “No, no you will not.” “Too late the 15 step plan has already started >;)” “(Deep sigh) I’ll be the getaway driver.”

Anything that says "Character A would and will beat the crap out of anyone who hurts B" is my jam.

My favorite thing is when two partners become more and more alike as the story progresses. Maybe character A has a very specific interest that character B's never heard about, but now they're practically an expert at it just by being around A. Or maybe B has like a catchphrase, like maybe, "Don't call me X!", and character A finds it amusing, but then later down the line someone calls B that, and character A jumps in "Don't call them X!" It's so tragic yet so beautiful. They happily abandoned a bit of themselves, because compatibility suits them so much more than individuality.

I have two characters that are both stuck in the same cabin the middle of the forest in the dead of winter. A is quiet and contemplative. They like they’re in complete denial about the situation and has ruthless but quiet optimism about it. They write about their woes but never tell them to B in an effort to keep their friend’s spirits up. B is a complete nervous wreck and is really paranoid that they’re both going to die. Like to the point where it doesn’t seem healthy to A. B is funny and charismatic but is convinced there’s no way out. They’re both handling the situation in different ways and they try to understand and help each other get through their terrible circumstances.

one character relationship I enjoy is like bad guy and good guy in a work relationship EX: bad guy is robbing a bank and good guy is trying to stop them, but it’s like a routine and depending the bad guy leaves with stolen goods and says “same time next Friday?” or bad guy gets caught (probably to make good guy happy) and bad guy is proud

Character A is amazing and awesome at everything and always super confident. Character B messes up a lot, is nervous and scared and has self esteem issues. Character A is completely amazed by all the little things B is good at, thinks they're the coolest person alive and goes completely gaga over them, all the while Character B is incredibly confused why A thinks this way.

As a fanfiction writer, this is hella fucking helpful to write a bombass fanfic

ive always particularly enjoyed "feral x totally oblivious to it and/or lowkey feral themselves" basically if that one vine, "GET YOUR FUCKING DOG BITCH" "it dont bite" "YES IT DO-" was a character dynamic. doesnt even matter if its romantic, i eat it up everytime regardless. its just so entertaining.

Love the friendship group dynamic of: Inseperable group for a couple of years during childhood/school/work, who through circumstances beyond their control have to go their seperate ways for a few years. Down-to-earth/sunshine character of the group goes through some stuff that changes them for worse, and when they finally reunite, you have this gaggle of utterly baffled, somewhat terrified and/or otherwise badly reacting friends who kept themselves together a little better. And then the whole dynamic slowly changes because former sunshine is suddenly far more cynical, assertive and rough around the edges, but you have this ONE person who is all the way on-board with the switch. The others either learn to deal with it, or slowly distance themselves from former sunshine and then the group. I LOVE CHARACTER DEVELOPEMENT THAT BREAKS PEOPLE INTO BITS AND REASSEMBLES THEM.

Nerd learning that they're not defined by their grades? Nice. "Has a hard time studying" learning that it's ok to ask for help and the "less than" mentality was mostly their own? I want in my table!
