Northwest Wisconsin in October! This is a premier location for observing the Greater Sandhill Crane as it builds up energy for a long migration. For a few weeks each year, Sandhill Cranes spend the nights in large, undisturbed marshes in flocks sometimes numbering in the thousands! The morning and evening flights around the night roosts are spectacular. Relax and enjoy this evening view of cranes returning to the roost. They are joined by Canada Geese and Trumpeter Swans, and the audio reveals a few Mallards and Tundra Swans in the mix. A sharp ear will pick up the lisping calls of migrating sparrows too. Beauty all around!
