there was a saying amongst baltic germans - latvian goes to church twice. Once after he's born and once after he dies. They never were really Christian, as a whole.
I am Latvian and personally, the closest to my heart is what she had described as the pagan side. But there is God in it and all the other mythological characters are different aspects of that one God. Christianity, in my opinion, isn't as soulful and natural. in Latvia, even if the person has been baptised in christian church, they mostly resonate much more with the Latvian God. after 13 century(before the emposed christianity) we started calling him god there are similarities but there is no pressure, no bible.. spirituality and individuality. I would rather say that in comparison I would thank him for the beauty in everything and ask for nothing, because we make our own lives.
