Thank you. One can fell the jitters you had and still how much you are trying to be confident.I really Really appreciate it.Also I had this thing said to me by a guy once (given i was in the middle of an episode) ,he said if you just dont focus on the inside voices no matter how tempting it is to prove them wrong and give zero emotional value (means be desperate enough (not strong enough because the temptations of fear no matter how alarming to you are in the end are just thoughts like did he have shrimps for dinner no matter the rarity of the event you'd be compelled to focus on the negative of the scenario and youre never strong enough to focus completely on the positive so you dont focus at all and this happens when youre experinced like years later but if you just try and to recognize this before hand then there will be a time your fear will leave you and youll look at the alarming thought as juat that like did he have shrimps for dinner because its always the "you never know " factor reeling you down. ) to look just look at reality youll start feeling better after exactly 2 to 3 minutes .Youll first feel "nooooo i let it paas what if it would have been trueeee"(mind you, "feel" not "think" because you shouldn't even focus enough to think that) and this helplessness is only instantaneous because after that youll feel a lot better.One can also started doing the opposite of ones normal reaction to the voices. Like if you hear "do this and that will happen" instead of not doing it ,if you do it it will confuse your brain and youll regain your lost control.I know I did.

I've been a Christian since 2009 and I thought I was possessed by a demon, this is why I never searched psychological help before last year. I have tried everything I could under the sun, like throwing away bags of stuff, numerous 40-day fastings, I have other people fast with me, I had 3 failed deliverances, people considered me really stiff because I was avoiding "sinning as much as I could', repented and I never got any relief from my symptoms. I thought I had blaspheme against the holy spirit (because that is what the voices said) and could never find peace until I accepted I had schizoaffective disorder. I felt peace inside for the first time. These demons beliefs did more harm than good to me. On the other hand, believing in a loving God that is what prevented me from committing suicide. I'm on a break from religious stuff right now and most of my religious condemning voices and delusions are gone. I've never felt that good in my life before :)

In my humble opinion one of the biggest dangers with religion is assigning the responsibility for relieving your suffering to others. The can also be true with drugs. I do believe you should do what is best for you. If you find religion helps, then you should be religious. If you should find that drugs hekp, you should use them. But I would also suggest that you should also look within yourself to find peace.

Did medication relieve your symptoms? I think I'm in that space now.I keep thinking its demons that are tormenting me and i feel that I'm a bad person and that's why this is happening.It feels like i need a exorcism.I always feel someone is watching me.I can feel someone pressed against my back sometimes.I have weird demon dreams where I'm been followed.Showers are a nightmare for me because it feels like someone is behind me watching me the entire time.I don't have healthcare so i have to wait until open enrollment to get help.For now what helps me is going to work everyday,playing games on my phone and interacting with my family.My sister has a severe case of schizophrenia and shes been living in a mental institution for the past 17 Years.My mom has it too.Im afraid to take medication for it because i fear i will end up like my sister.

@@Kykylandfarming Showing loving kindness to everyone, including yourself, is the path to true happiness. The re are those that may help you with dealing with demons, and that is good. There is also medicine that may be of benefit, and that is also good. Help may be found in many places. What troubles you is within you, just as the solution to what troubles you is within you. It is up to you to determine what is best for dealing with what troubles you. It is important to recognize that help is available. I cannot judge what is best for you, just like you cannot judge what is best for me. The same is true of others, such as priests or physicians. Recognize that there is peace to be found within yourself. Religion or science are simply tools to enable you to relieve your own suffering, and you can do it if you choose to do so. I highly recommend The Serentiy Prayer. Do not let the name fool you. There is a philosophy rooted in it that will bring peace. It may seem very simple, but that is only because it is very simple. Do not confuse simple with easy. If you are able to master the philosophy of The Serenity Prayer, you will find happiness. It is just another tool, but a tool I find very useful.

Dude! I’m BLIND, purely physical disability, and I’ve had sooo many people demand to pray for me (in front of my children, no less) and not only is it completely awkward, but it’s so demeaning. I live a perfectly capable, awesome life, my blindness isn’t the result of my sin, and there are far more important things to pray for IMO. I can imagine this might be a hard video to create-but I’m glad you did! ❤️

@Tiberiu Farcas Thank you for attempting to help, but it appears you must have gotten my comment confused with that of another. I never even mentioned the word you suggest I am attempting to redefine. If you find it beneficial to be disabled, then that is certainly your right and what you should do. Was Stephen Hawkings disabled? Was he not still able to contribute to society? I do not see a benefit it being disabled, but you should do what is best for you. Perhaps if you took the time to review the statements, you could provide a more skillful response.

This is just a random guess at what worked for us, may not work for you, but because its incorrect medication and/or bad therapist nothing else. Good therapist is typically the one that SPECIALIZES in ocd. Every therapist/psychiatrist are good at a few disorders, but very 'average' at all the others. I grew up with a mother who was on the schizophrenic spectrum. She experienced hallucinations (mostly auditory, from what I could tell), paranoia, delusions, etc. with what I considered to be severe depression, and what I now understand to be anosognosia, but she was never diagnosed or treated. One day, when I was about 16 years old, her sister and her daughter (my aunt and cousin) came over for a visit. We were sitting in the kitchen chatting, when out of the blue, my aunt suddenly gets up and rushes over to my mom. She grabbed her in a bear hug and yelled to the lord to "exorcise this demon from my sister". Oddly enough, this did not happen. After she did this, the situation devolved as one would expect. As an angst-ridden teenager trying to find his place in the family, let alone the world, this made for a wonderful experience, that I cherish to this day... To anyone who is considering doing this to their loved-one, please don't.

Religion is man made traditions. Christ came to bring the truth to man, salvation. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom yes, it is true, but we are not given the spirit of fear once we understand. We are sealed with the holy spirit of promise and it is a great joy, and brings peace of mind. Now... on the other hand, every single cult, every single false denom, uses a constant state of guilt in order to bleed its congregation DRY through tithing and other methods. Most religions DO use fear, to keep you in your seat, reaching for your wallet. The bible calls that FILTHY LUCRE. Many "pastors" are guilty of it. Hillsong for example... Copeland and all of his pals. Satan knows if he creates shills he can pull in some souls and deter others from seeking Jesus, and i'm afraid it works very, very well. If someone is completely given over to fear, they are not trusting in the Blood of Christ for remission of their sins, they are not accepting that they have a Lord and savior. This is one of the many dangers of religion, and not knowing Christ but sadly this is a time of great deception. As the Bible clearly said it would be, thousands of years ago. There are over 300 prophecies from the time of Jesus that have come to pass, not one has been false. NOT ONE. Research this.

Well that's your problem... you chased after pastors and men, while you should have been at home, with a King James Bible, finding and establishing a personal relationship with our creator. Jesus doesn't ask you to go to some priest to find him, he doesn't demand you go to a church or you're lost... in fact he said the church was the people, not a building... Many 501c churches will not give you the Gospel of Christ, they will only fleece you. The truth of salvation and freedom from demonic oppression is very, VERY simple. So simple a child can understand... WHY!? Because God is not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to him! ALL. So he kept it as simple as could be and HE paid the price for us. All he requires of us, is faith in him. The holy ghost will largely handle the rest. That's not to say a Christian life is an easy one, it's a life of struggling against the flesh constantly. But we are sealed by the holy spirit of promise and reserved unto the day of judgement! When we come to him, he says he will IN NO WAYS cast us out! So turn to him, not man, not a preacher, turn to JESUS. Speak to him. He will answer!

I have no way of knowing if some schitzophrenics are actually delusional, but it would be extremely arrogantly foolish for people to assume that they know about everything that exists and everything that doesn't exist, like non-human beings with abilities that people don't understand. After I started doing things to expose and encourage opposition to the New World Order, all this paranormal and UFO activity started happening around me. I started getting overtly harassed and my life threatened, not by delusions, but by evil reptilian beings, with amazing, "supernatural," abilites (and many of their disembodied souls). Thankfully, I was able to collect some evidence. I prayed that, if angels were real, some would come help me and speak to me, audibly, so I'd know it wasn't my imagination. It's a very long story, but I actually did get contacted by extremely intelligent, benevolent, saurian beings, who told me to trust in God, keep my eyes set on Christ, and not to worry, because they wouldn't let the demon monsters anywhere near me, physically. I've learned a lot, over these past three years, from firsthand experience and by asking the angels questions. As it turns out, these beings have natural, "supernatural," abilities, utilizing quantum entanglement. The demons are the hidden source of evil. They affect us all, directly and indirectly. They can induce a wide range of mental states. They can hear through our ears, see through our eyes, and very thoroughly read our conscious thoughts (only one or two people, at a time, each). They can insert words and images into our minds, put stuff in our dreams, travel in their spirit bodies (astral projection), perform telekinesis (which has happened at my house, many times), and, under certain circumstances, completely possess people's bodies ("divoc," in Ancient Hebrew, ("covid," backwards)). They secretly instigate hostility, immorality, and generally harmful behavior. They literally get high on some kind of energy produced by our suffering. Staying hidden is very important to them. They love it for their victims to be deemed crazy. Along with their evil human hybrids, they have been infiltrating the positions of power and influence, for thousands of years. They were the Nagas of Ancient Indian, Plumed Serpent Gods, of Ancient Central and South America, and were known to rule around the world, like China, Egypt, Sumer, ect.. They also use hidden advanced technology and psychological conditioning. The angels, who are far superior to the demons, notably, ethically and intellectually, have the same abilities, and have recently launched their major attack on the demon monsters, and are working on taking them out. This is what the Bible is predicting. The angels are very righteous, loving, creative and humorous, and highly value our freedom, autonomy, and our, "path." They expect us to do all we can, in this infowar, to help free ourselves, but they will handle that which we are unable, logistically. DO NOT BE TRICKED BY THE DEMONS INTO CAUSING VIOLENCE. THE REAL ANGELS WOULD NOT WANT YOU TO CAUSE VIOLENCE. That's what the demons like to do, which is what's behind all these crazy murder cases we hear about. I have no way of knowing, but I suspect these demons are what's tormenting all schizophrenics, especially based on the kinds of things heard by schizophrenics. There is a way to block the telepathic attacks. Idk why or how this works, but you have to pray and ask for the Holy Spirit, and then command the demons to release you and/or whomever, in Jesus Christ's name. It must be done often, cause they do come back. Christian music also tortures them away. Here's a summary, with evidence: www.quora.com/profile/Thomas-Jones-1963. Tiktok: reptilian_demon_exposure. I have schizoaffective disorder and one of my symptoms is religious delusions. It's typically in the form of "I'm receiving revelations from movies and tv shows about religious truths" or "A stranger interacted with me in a weird but nice way that's God speaking through them". With proper medication and following my treatment plan I can see these delusions for what they are and not indulge in them. I'm also religious, but my particular faith has explicit theology that more or less contradicts these delusions so it helps. For instance, my faith believes that God is very encouraging of our free will as people so speaking through a person, (other than relaying messages to a prophet or the like), wouldn't be something God would do. Similarly, revelations have to meet certain spiritual criteria to be genuine in our faith so that works too. At the end of the day however, medication and following up on treatment is the only course of action likely to yield results. If a loved one is dealing with this don't be crestfallen if your persuasions to reason are ignored. Talking someone out of a delusion is just not likely to work, but recovery is a possibility. Religion can be a source of support and comfort, but a secular life can also provide the same supports and comforts. If people would rather be soothed or helped in a non-religious way there is plenty of therapeutic resources and techniques to achieve that. I will however, stress that medication shouldn't be dismissed because in a lot of ways we're at the mercy of our neurochemistry and there just isn't a holistic wand for that.

@@Luna-ft8yh I had the same experience as you, but I actually had a Buddhist monk and community guide me without medication. For over a year I was able to drive a commercial vehicle. But I stop praying and meditating for one year that I got sick again and started having delusional thoughts again. I now taken medication for the past 5 years but I was able to wring my self with the help of a doctor low amounts of medication. But I believe I can get better without meds again because I was able to do it before. Believe in praying. In Buddhism we learn about Karma and past lives. Think of all the sins we committed this life and people and beings we hurt, not only imagining are past lives. Pray, meditate, and repent to the God you believe in and pray to your ancestors the people that came before you because we are all connected.

@liveandletdice9069
@liveandletdice9069 4 года назад
@@JCV-kd1sy when people say that its typically figurative like they're actually saying stuff like "That was spiritually inspiring" or "That was wise" "That was soothing" Most people when they say God speaks to them in everyday situations they aren't claiming that in a prophetic sense as I experience during certain episodes that I've had to recover from. Given more therapy and medication it can be comforting, but the intensity and significance as well as the existential meaning of these experiences aren't grandiose or expansive with normal people. Basically, you can say something spiritually profound, but it doesn't mean you receive visions about mankind's eschatology. People can pray and communicate with God but he doesn't hijack their speech was my point. To my more delusional moments it would be God literally speaking as if that person were a mouthpiece. I guess I wasn't clear on that point. That's what makes it delusional.

@@stevevest7206 but if you see it harms quite a lot of people, then the intention is not relevant here, because to the person, he just see's someone hurting them. It feels like some people backpat themselves on the back likes this, and justify that the harm done is not their fault, it just happened or whatever. Involuntarily manslaughter can be completely unintentional, and a consequence of trying to help someone. Perhaps the person shouldn't be going to jail because, well, ' i didnt mean it, sry' ? Point is, its great if you're wanting to help such people, but people have to realize when it's such harm done and a bit too often and out of stupidity - they have think longer before choosing to help, because it this harms someone, you have to take responsibility for your actions. The good intentions are great but they makes this only very mildly better. still bad though. You can't give out such advice so easily without understanding the potential power of them, for better or worse. If you make just as many people much worse, then you are in total, making it worse, not better. This is up to the patients doc or family to decide what methods to try, not random people on youtube who have common delusions and believe in exorcism, because the fact they even believe it, to me signal that the person has some mental issues probably. i’ve gone through so much religious trauma and it’s all starting to make sense now. my mom is schizophrenic and i had just found out about a month ago. now i’m connecting all the dots. ever since i was little she used to tell me that she would always see jesus in her dreams and that she would die and jesus would save her. she would always tell me that she might die and jesus might take her and it traumatized me so much. i remember when my mom would take naps and i would be next to her on my ipad and stuff and every second i would feel her chest to check if she was still breathing. i had to grow up with the fear of her dying. one day i attempted suicide. i was in the emergency room for a bit and then i was in a mental facility for about a month. i remeber the first thing she said to me that day when i was in the emergency room was “why would you do this” it hurt a lot because all i wanted in that moment was her love. but that’s besides the point. it’s 2 years later now and i’ve recently gone into a severe state of depression. the other day we got into a really bad argument. she started screaming at me for being suicidal and that jesus was the only one who could decide when i could go. she kept on yelling and shaming me for not having the motivation to do anything even live. now that i know that she has schizophrenia everything’s just stating to make sense to me and it kinda feels like closure.

The modern person thinks "Science" is a god above all gods. Well, as a professional in mechanical engineering for nearly 30yrs I can tell you that most people spouting "science' don't really know but a fraction of what the populace thinks they know. Often times people in the sciences have a little info that the masses don't have (true science) and they fill in the gaps with massive amounts of presupposition. One of those being.. there is no god.. or that religion doesn't have anything to to with it. If folks would read the Bible and then go observe natural phenomena (real science) you would see that they are not mutually exclusive. There is an unseen creator and He has stated His expectations for mankind. Simply... there are "laws of God" (Yahweh) In the case of abnormal mental disorders I would not at all discount the ability to use chemicals to help. But also understand your flooding your whole body with an unnatural substance and there can be short term and long term side effects that could be more far more detrimental. Not only physically but Spiritually. IMO.. *FIRST* turn to Yahweh and Yeshua. Ask for help, ask for removal of evil influences, and ask Him for guidance in how to reduce or eliminate mental problems. I'm both a true believing Christian.. and I will take medicines when appropriate.

its very important for people living with schizophrenia, and those who care about them, to try to separate out their religious and spiritual beliefs from the illness itself, and not try to find a religious cause, or cure, but to treat it at face value. schizophrenics have enough trouble sorting out reality, adding religious ideas that are not patently obvious ( like grounding exercises or meditation) can make the struggle worse, as they may not be able to fit themselves into a particular religious box. and, if they do, they may be ignoring part of who they are to try to conform to a loved ones desires for them, always a bad idea. let them figure it out on their own, and provide support for the process, but dont push an agenda.

 Steve Vest I feel like you. I really hate these people who offer such closeminded view on the illness and what to do. I have nothing against religious people, but what irks me is the extreme level of assurance these people have (in scenarios like this one, about someone with paranoid schizophrenia) when suggesting exorcism. On the other hand I feel bad for hating them, because, it kinda is well meaning and not intended to harm at all, like you said, that's probably why hating them induces feeling of guilt. However, i suppose you agree, that there's a clear line after which the wellmeaning intent goes out of the window because it's clearly outweighed the actions and direct harm caused from them. "don't listen to the doctors, they're all shams and poison you" and telling PARANOID(!) schizophrenic that they're posessed is just .. absolute evil. It's like telling suicidal person he shouldn't listen to the friends comforting him, and suicide is what he should do. After this point, why the intent is of ANY relevance here?(besides patting yourself on the back) if your wellmeaning intent but dangerous actions resulted a person to be killed involuntarily, the intent isn't any excuse or a way to (perhaps subconsciously) justify your actions and then claim you dont deserve punishment at all. Also such people would get insulted that the victim in such scenario DARED to seek punishment and *gasp* disregard your godlike well-meaning and do-good intent. "(What a scum to not take your DEADLY intent into account and even think you're dangerous to others/society . Because not only you feel no guilt, you feel you're not bad person because you wanted do good, you feel they(society/law) are all wrong and you're (and your actions) justified. Makes one think, - what other evil and dangerous, probably illegal things you see as justified to do to someone or make someone do, - , all because, well, 'you wanted to help' and 'meaned well'. On top of all this - your extreme assurance of how completely right you are, even AFTER the horrible consequences of your acts just proves that, - even after your actions result in tragedy or suffering, you won't stop and will continue harming others. Since your delusion that you're not doing anything wrong at all and a good person and doing 'the right thing' - might as wellmakes you try and do more of such "good" things to people as much as you can if you want to heaven :-). Why should you stop helping someone, right? even though its hurting someone.. -this is the very religious schizophrenics behaviour. Btw the 'you' is targeted at you personally, just in case :D If such schizo-ligious people make me bleed worse and worse with their 'helping' methods, am i the asshole if i push these people as further away from me as possible and tell them to stay the fuck away? P.S Of course not all religious schizophrenic are like the ones the video mentioned, these are very 'extreme' ones and small minority.

@@ImGoingSSJ97 To attempt to force anything upon anyone else is wrong. This includes both religion and medicine. I can not pretend to judge what is best for others, only myself. Every person that has ever lived, lived in modern times. Some day things that we view as the truth today may seem barbaric. This is why I would not assume that some religion is right or wrong just like I would not assume science is right or wrong. Kenneth, It depends on in brief, all mental illness, that we are discussing, the medical diagnosis can have a very clinical overview. How do they not know that that person went through something horrific like a car accident or brutal attack, prior or they thought something that was strange to them. They usually don’t know the patient in some cases and seem poorly equipped to evaluate the person depending on the problem. They are very reluctant to change their ideas even when they are presented with facts and cause more problems with patients using medication that can cause serious side effects and don’t care. All I can say it is purely totalitarianism and their bigots. At least with the Church and I am not saying everyone is perfect, they are trying to spread a Loving, caring, understanding, honest, happy, friendship, kindness message. I don’t see that with the medical profession they are very secretive, usually busy, unstaffed, unkind, and don’t listen. Can I say more

So I’ve been diagnosed with mental illness, gone through what you would call psychosis in the medical term and scientific term and was experiencing extreme demonic torment in my life and presents from within inside my house. A person came over to pray with me not because I had a demon, not because I was possessed, but just to pray with me in the troubling time that I was having. I never thought once that I had demons I never even entertain that idea but within 20 seconds 30 seconds tops of this guy praying for me I completely manifested and was rolling around on the floor give or take for 3 to 4 hours talking in different languages, etc. I’ve noticed that I have been diagnosed by psychiatrist at probably the lowest points of my life as having mental illness. They never once have diagnosed me during a normal period of life. I do believe there’s value in the medical field, but I can see just by the language that you use you absolutely give no value to the spiritual part of any type of affliction and only view diagnosis from a scientific and medical basis. I believe there’s value in both and leaning only one way, or the other gives a great disservice to humanity as a whole.

I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.

I have experience with exorcists. I can't speak for schizophrenia, but I had a very strong compulsion to throw myself out of high-rises, or any dangerously high place, which was fixed on the advice of the official Catholic exorcist for my area. I thought it might be spiritual/demonic since I was not actually suicidal or depressed in the least. He told me that I was not possessed but the compulsion might be spiritual in origin, so he advised me to get one of his assistant priests to pray on me with his hands. I went to see the priest, explained everything, he prayed on me with his hands and that was that. And it's never come back. What a relief, as I had been hounded by this problem for a few years. He was a good guy. RIP Fr Digby Samuels.
@francisgeorge7639
@francisgeorge7639 5 лет назад
...and to add to that. Even if schizophrenia is physical, that doesn't mean it doesn't have a spiritual cause. Since a real exorcism takes hardly any time and is actually a fairly low-key affair, just do it to cross it off the list of possible solutions. There's really no reason to not do it. And Catholic priests don't ask for money so it's for free. Just go with a family member in case the priest is dodgy (40% of priests have affairs so that's a lot of priests without integrity).

I would venture to guess that, beyond hearing voices and seeing faces, most people who have "Schizophrenia" experience things like: tapping/knocking on the walls/floor THAT OTHER PEOPLE CAN HEAR (i.e NOT hallucinations), electronics malfunctioning, lights flickering, objects breaking, and more. It is so clear to me that the essence of so-called Schizophrenia is spiritual in nature, not psychological.

Things like: lights flickering, tapping/knocking on the walls/floor, objects breaking or falling off of the walls/shelves, electronics malfunctioning, etc.? I am convinced that severe mental illness is the result of demonic activity, and I would venture to guess that the evidence is there if you are willing to see it. I have seen so many instances where paranormal events follow these sorts of individuals, as well as people being able to stop the episodes in the name of Jesus; and seeing people delivered from these sorts of issues completely when they give their life to Jesus, or seek out a deliverance ministry.

Personally, I think the problem here is likely in how the suggestion is made. If the message was given through loving-kindness, that is good. To say perhaps prayer or exorcism might be helpful is not bad. The line seems to be when fear is used to attempt to get someone to believe as you believe. To characterize all religions or even all Christians as the same may not be a good idea.

I have Schizoaffective disorder and think you have the right balance of how to describe religious delusions in your videos. My Priest was very supportive and agreed that it is a biological effect of the brain rather than anything else causing my illness. I personally couldn't relate to religion for a long time because of the few delusions I had had which were religious, however since last year I decided that faith must be important to me so I have looked in to different religions as a study and feel comfortable being Christian. However, I see my illness as part of me and that it is a biological rather than spiritual effect on my body and my faith helps me on a daily basis.

My sense is that we all have a spiritual life whether or not we choose to make it a big part of our lives and, of course, some of us choose to take the path of religion too. (It is worth noting that, some would say that religious belief is disillusion.(!) I mention this, not to be disrespectful or rude to believers, but to support the view that we should be cautious when suggesting that we can be made well through religious practice such as exorcism or prayer. ) Compassion, patience, acceptance. Kudos to you for bringing up this topic. Thank you for taking the time to clarify that schizophrenia is not demon posession. I'm a psychiatrist who is interested in Psychiatry and Religion. In the past, people believed that those suffering from psychosis were being possessed. What most likely occurred is that the individual may have had bipolar disorder and, after a period of time, their manic episode would have run its course. There is a wealth of knowledge demonstrating that schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental health illnesses are biologically based. The need for demons to explain people suffering from these diseases is no longer needed. Furthermore, those methods would be ineffective. This does not mean that demon possession doesn't exist, per-se. But it is important to use all the available research to better understand and help those that are suffering. I wish this channel wonderful growth as it is doing a great job combating mental health stigma. Cheers!

@@stevevest7206 I get what you are saying but that is one of the main aspects of Schizophrenia and Delusional thoughts, the person suffering from these things is incapable of self help. People not suffering from Mental Illness probably do have the innate ability to heal themselves, but Schizophrenia won't fix itself just like blindness won't cure itself. Honestly, a delusional person might read your comment and decide that you are right and continue to refuse help that they genuinely need.

@@jeansmcjeans7508 I understand. I just don't view people as incapable of helping themselves. Additionally, there are plentty of examples of science causing more harm than good. I am not talking long ago. See Xanax for a recent examplle. There are multiple alternatives to solve problems. Often the reason the problem is solved my be in question. What some may call the power of positive thinking, others may call God. It isn't for me to judge. What truly matters is only the results. This is why I encourage people to do what works for them. To assume something that doesn't work for one person will not work for another is probably not a good idea. Additionally, to assume that I know better than you what is good for you would also probably not be skillful.

I watched a recent video where you included your partner. I would like to see more videos with both of you. Mental illness affects everyone. Having the two of you talk about relationships may help so many couples and families. Again, I can’t thank you enough for being so personal in sharing your mental health illness. @@kimalonzo3363 there are different spiritual dimensions going all around us. If I were to mention this or my spiritual experiences to a doctor they would put me on medication and assign a mental disease mostly schizophrenia. I would be pressured to accept their diagnosis. Fortunately a family friend of ours who is a psychiatrist is also a good Christian and knows I am not experiencing anything that wasn’t similarly encountered by those of faith in The Good Book! There are divine things going on all around us. But only a few of us are aware of such matters. Of course there quite possibly “real” schizophrenics too. @@kimalonzo3363 the spiritual sight and hearing I have is not something I expect to visit a doctor about. I see it as more of a blessing. We are all given different gifts. There’s a difference in what I have and people who hear voices to go hurt others. In their case they have most likely broken into a demonic realm and under the influence of the enemy. Interestingly doctors dont see any difference all would deem both myself and the demonic lead as schizophrenic. They don’t recognize divinity. Hardly surprising as most have sworn the Hippocratic oath which is itself of the devil. There is a lot of deception in this world and doctors are not immune to it

For those interested: Molecular Psychiatry July 2015 "The team found individuals with schizophrenia have smaller volume in the hippocampus, amygdala, thalamus, nucleus accumbens and intracranial space than controls, and larger pallidum and ventricle volumes." This and other studies conclude broad ranging alterations in brain structure.

I'm so happy you've chosen to make this video. I had a lady tell me that mental illness doesn't exist that it's all from demons and spirits. She suggested I get in my knees and call out to God asking him why my prayers of healing are being hindered for him to show me. I think Jesus is complete love. I think some people take religion way too far and completely do more harm in someone's recovery than good. I don't have demons, I have a mental illness. Thanks for this video.

I am octen,.isunderstood by my brothers and sisters in the Lord and it can be really rough. I have unipolar cognitive depression. I had wonderful Christian counselors who were very helpful. I do not hear voices but have had some bad nightmares that I think we're satanic attacks. I do not know for sure. I have a third cousin who hears voices her Mother told me. It concerns me that many people hear voices telling them to,harm themselves but I have little understanding on su h things. They just concern me. I know from my illness that I need the medications I need. You are so precious and I,do not want anyone to do a diagnosis without a license. In my Christian counseling my counselors made sense. I,felt as if they were SHINING light into some dark spaces in my mind that others did not. I wish I knew other people like you that have to manage their disorder as I do because I have thought I am the only one which produces low self esteem. ♡

Looked at a different way, religion was invented to explain away mysteries. The brain is perfectly adapted to (trying to) make sense out of perceived patterns. If the moon obscures the sun every so often, for example, primitive thinkers will just as readily attribute that to "the gods" as you and I would to celestial physics.

Lauren, I appreciate your willingness to share your views on schizophrenia and religious beliefs. Discussions of religion & spirituality can be very touchy subjects. I agree that there must be a certain level of compassion when trying to suggest ways to help someone that has been diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. And yes there is evidence that points strongly to the medical side of this condition. However, science cannot quantify or disprove faith or religious beliefs. Faith is immeasurable and cannot be explained in a lab or by a few studies. I am a therapist and I have personal experience with schizophrenia. I would never tell any of my patients that their prayers have been scientifically proven not to alleviate any of their symptoms. Lauren, I can say with 100% surety that, I myself, have witnessed relief from symptoms as a result of my prayers and the prayers of others that have joined with me. I again appreciate the first comment that you began this video with, but I must disregard the remainder. We are all on this journey together, yes, but daily we are on an individual journey. While there may be commonalities in the origin of schizophrenia, our coping mechanisms can vary and we should, respectively, all be allowed to cope in our own way. Thank you again for your willingness to share your thoughts on this journey that we walk together, although on different paths to the same destination (awareness and living well).

You are correct on this subject and I am glad you pointed out this particular subject. I too read some of the comments made in conjunction with schizophrenia and the healing effects of religion/spirituality. Unfortunately, fixing this type of disease/illness with religious beliefs isn’t like a vehicle breaking down and taking it to a mechanic. If it were I would have had it fixed the next day. I was reared with catholic beliefs within a religious family. What people do not understand, those who do not live with this disease directly, is that non-fiction and fiction are one in the same and deciphering which is real to which isn’t complicates the actual joys of recovery. As an example for those who do not understand, take a clean canvas and paint it white. Let it dry. Now paint picture using white paint on that canvas. You know you’ve painted it. You know what shapes and shading should be there but when you show it to someone, they see nothing but a canvas that’s painted white. It’s the best analogy I could come up with. And by the persons viewing this magnificent painting, they’ll suggest using other colors. You only have one color to paint with. In my life the hypothetical colors added were those of a positive support group, family and friends. But most importantly, for the people that live with this it’s positivity and always looking forward to keep moving one foot in front of the other. Time will always move forward and you should be there alongside it. Life is worth living.
