Here is my personal top ten list of video games that are in need of a remaster/re-imagining. What are some games you think would benefit from a remaster?

I had forgotten about Sudeki. With a remaster/reimagining it could be a masterpiece. I remember the game seemed quite basic, but it was still fun and i played it quite a bit. I'm on board with your idea for Zelda 2. It would most likely be very popular today if it gets remade correctly.

I hope the "big guys" find your channel and take the suggestions and criticism you have put together so introspectfully. Parents are out there trying to find good games for their kids and just like Disney is doing, digitally remastering their classics, makes it all new again. I watched Jungle Book not long ago. Christopher Walken, as the voice of Baloo, was awesome. Can't hardly tell where real ends and digital begins.

Nice video and original list of titles that you feel warrant a remaster. I can't say that I had much interest in some of the games myself. Never made it far into Secret of Evermore but I'd be willing to give it another chance. Didn't care for Star Ocean 1, didn't like 4, and I thought 5 was really bad, although I did finish that one. Star Ocean 2 is amazing. I've also never been able to understand the appeal of Zelda II. I completed it about a year ago with the help of a guide. I found that it was incredibly difficult to figure out what to do to progress in the game (same with the original Zelda) and that figuring out what to do wasn't enjoyable. Other Zelda games like A Link to the Past and Breath of the Wild hold a lot of secrets but the exploration and discovery itself are truly enjoyable. It would be an interesting game to see remade though as Shigeru Miyamoto previously stated that there was a lot they wanted to do with the game that they couldn't at the time, partly due to hardware limitations of the NES. It would have to be quite a bit different though to grab my attention. Ten remakes/remasters I would like to see (in no particular order): - Lunar Silver Star Story (with a revamped combat system) - Parasite Eve - Silent Hill - Dragon Warrior/Quest (the first one) - Diablo (third person, akin to Dark Souls) - Goldeneye - Duke Nukem 3D - Wild ARMs (this one is a stretch since the only change I really want is for them to replace the ugly 3D battle art with sprites) - Xenogears (actually finishing the story as intended) - Final Fantasy VII (hopefully this one is actually happening and Square-Enix don't mess it up like everything else they touch lately) A lot of my choices are PS1 games. Mostly because they were really pushing for 3D but the technology wasn't quite there yet. Made for a lot of great, but clunky (and often ugly) games.

I gotta say that Diablo remake is an interesting idea. I certainly never thought of that. I agree on Duke Nukem 3D, because every time it gets re-released it's still just the same game. The Lunar games I'd love to see redone. They were sort of clunky even for their time, so a remake would definitely help there. I think part of why I enjoy Zelda II so much is just because I played it so much as a kid. I probably picked up on what it is that you're supposed to do back when I had a much younger brain. Back then, you played whatever your family had. I remember beating the original Zelda without a guide. Sure, going around trying to burn each and every single tree in the game isn't something I'd do now, but as a kid I had all the time in the world, and it felt like it'd be that way forever. I'm sure if I played Zelda II now, I'd hate it. Heck, I could get behind pretty much your entire list. The only game on there that I hardly ever got to play is Xenogears.

I absolutely agree with your #1. It's one of my favorite games in the series! I go back yearly and play through it still to this day. Breath of Fire is good, but I will say a criticism I have (cuz I did play the 2nd game recently) is that there isn't a whole lot going on in combat aside from the "Attack" command for a huge portion of the game. Most characters have abilities that are just useless enough that you never use them (MC and Bow) and magic based characters like Nina will always be using magic. The MC gets dragon attacks, but they always use up all his AP so you have to use them very sparingly. Not only that but the amount of cash you get for battles is painstakingly low, you have to grind like hell to keep current on equipment. I tried out Sudeki way back when, but it wasn't something I completed. I also tried various Star Ocean games, but I don't think they're for me.

BoF II's grind was something I felt fit the game. The grind (at least to me) felt good, because I felt like the story was good enough to make you feel rewarded for overcoming a hurdle. Grinds and RPGs used to just go hand in hand, but I understand they're not for everyone. In fact, most of my picks were games that I felt were almost something great, but had fixable flaws holding them back.

I don't mind grinding if combat is involved enough. @@BrockShake

I find it difficult to go back to the old school grind of RPGs. Developers have found clever ways to improve upon the grinding experience. Bravely Default allowed you to speed up battles and change difficulty on the fly. Even allowed for you to disable random battles. Square Enix added similar features to the relatively recent port of Final Fantasy IX. Changes like that allow the player to have more control over the experience and grind as little or as much as they want.
