Oddly enough VA's always go through some weird higher pitch change when they play a certain character for a long time. Seth macfarlen said a lot of his characters went through a similar shift over time especially when it came to Peter Griffin. And Christina Vee OG voice for Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug was a little deeper in the first few episodes of season 1.

Like, maybe the first 4 episodes he had this voice, but after a lil bit his voice became the voice we know and his IQ dropped dramatically. Phil Hartman's voice was Darran Norris' inspiration for Cosmo in these pilots. As the show became its own thing, Darran tried to make it his own, raising the pitch, but keeping the tone. A lot of voice actors just do impressions of other actors, putting their own spin on them to make them unique for the character. Hank Azaria has said that playing police officer Lou on the Simpsons is his way of a bad Sylvester Stallone impression.

The sad thing about that: Timmy's original VA during this Era of Nickelodeon Cartoons ended up committing suicide. That's why Timmy sounds higher pitched in its official run with Tara Strong as the main VA

I feel like this trope happens a lot within TV shows especially cartoons it could possibly just be due to poor writing or it's just easier for the creators to dumb down the character. But it makes it unbearable at times

@@lightspeed7312 Why does it need to be? - The animation changed drastically to what we were used to in the other 8 seasons - The voices of Timmy and Cosmo changed to be more like their characters personality. I would have enjoyed the show more on later seasons after wishology if Cosmo wasn't force to be a dumbo who can't even hold his head for 5 seconds (wisholympics reference) as for timmy they made him more childish and louder. Not of my likeness because kids are cruelly irritating. - The jokes were getting forced and obvious, starting to add lots of characters without a good role rather for that one episode, while forgetting of the original cast... except of Crocker - And the creator itself... is a scammer nowadays tracing other's artwork for commissionsand if not, his style is really worse than what we saw in his shows, let's not even mention his new show of religion that isn't actually good at all and very expensive for just 6 episodes.
