Nine Mile Bridge is a historic place on the St. John River. I was working on an old cabin here and took the time to record myself reading the obituary of the man who built it so I could share it with you. Camille J. Beaulieu 1917-2006.
This old trapper cabin at Nine Mile on the St. John River was built by Camille Beaulieu. He died in 2006. In 2015 the "Lost Cabin Hunters" who are now called the "Maine Cabin Masters" renovated the cabin installing a standing seam metal roof and flooring. I went to replace the chimney that was damaged when a tree fell on the cabin. I found the time capsule left by the "Lost Cabin Hunters." After finishing the project I celebrated by cooking a native brook trout I caught in a nearby stream, and sharing it with my dog Gracie.
This cabin is an official North Maine Woods campsite and is open to the public on a first come first served basis.#logcabin #offgrid #cabinbuilding

my family came to what is now The State of Maine in 1671 as trappers and farm builders. Stories like Mr. Camille gives me some connection to my family heritage. I was a trapper like my father was before me and i'm sure so were many of my forefathers. We didn't buy our meat from the market unless dad or us 4 brothers couldn't find something on the side of the mountain. It's my goal to sometime spend a night at the cabin just to pay homage to my forefathers and remember what they all did to get us where we are today.

Thanks for bringing us along Cory. Great tribute to a great man. I love the day Jesus cooked fish for his disciples in John 21:9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. True humility in serving others.

This is the first time I have heard of Camille Beaulieu. I love to hear the stories of the old time Maine guides. The Lumberman's Museum here in Patten has some information on Al Nugent, who was a guide over on Chambelain Lake. I am raising my son on the Bible, but I also love to tell him stories of the great men of the wilderness.

I think all signage should be removed from inside the cabin, even from those have contributed to its longevity. Its a pristine history and should remain that way. I have been to many places like this all degraded from autographs from those who have been there prior, it ruins the thought and doesn't pay homage to those who once lived there, but to the visitors themselves. A log book and maybe a portal of history left carved in plaque hung outside on a post tucked away from immediate view. Thanks for all your videos.
@TheMaineWoods
@TheMaineWoods 3 года назад
I agree, that’s why I wrote in pencil, I hate all the sharpie graffiti and carvings, a log book is better. I also remove as many of the nails as I can, I don’t want the cabin to look like a porcupine!

Men like him are, unfortunately, are disappearing from the world. I've only met one in passing, and wished that I had spent a little time getting to know them. There was a man who lived in howland who was like this, lived by himself in a cabin in the woods.

Hi Corey....I understand that French is very common in New Brunswick, given Camille's name is this also the case in Maine?
