I wish Warner Bros still be keeping those "behind the scend footage" of ETD at their big warehouse. Who knows if one day these footage would appear ... ... if do so, that would be the greatest treasures of all BL' fans!
from what i read, the fight footage at least was filmed but ended up on the cutting room floor which means they were thrown out. No one knew it would be a classic and that Bruce would be gone shortly.
Mr. Heller seems like such a kind, gracious man, and it's always fascinating hearing about Enter the Dragon. As for Bruce's holding up production for five, six days, I've wondered about that myself. Was it nerves, flexing to show he could hold things up if he wanted, concern over whether or not this was going to be the project he envisioned, maybe even time to make plans, knowing if it was a smash hit it was his chance to make a break from Raymond Chow? Who knows? I DO know that NOBODY except Bruce believed in it like he did, because all his films weren't just throwaway action flicks cashing in a craze that would eventually fizzle away-they were an expression of his ART, wrapped in a popcorn movie package. Most people-including all or the majority of ones working on Enter-didn’t know that, but the Little Dragon did. One of the many reasons his films have withstood the test of time. And it's SO nice to hear someone speak the truth about the Kung Fu series: It was developed for Bruce (with his input, by the way) and they screwed him. End of story. “The Way of the Tiger, the Sign of the DRAGON,” helloooo. No parallel development. No fucking coincidence about “Oh, yeah, he had his own Shaolin script and we had ours, so we were under no obligation to cast him.” Naw, man, Warner Bros pretty much STOLE that shit. And by the way, Bruce had a movie planned called Green Bamboo Warrior, about a Shaolin monk in the Old West fighting to protect the Chinese railroad workers. Sound familiar?
@@raygsbrelcik5578 That injury occurred once they were shooting; the holdup in question started from the first day of shooting. And guess what? I recently learned from an interview with Shannon Lee that it happened over all those philosophical lines people can quote in their sleep and solidified ETD as a cult classic-lines the studio wanted to CUT. Bruce said hell no, I am not setting foot on set unless you agree to leave the script as is, and as much as the movie meant to him and his career, his wife said he was ready to walk if he had to. Guess who blinked? Talk about the art of fighting without fighting, lol.
I enjoyed your sharing of events so much! I was not only uplifted,I laughed, I felt my hair raise everywhere with goosebumps. I almost felt the way I did at the 1st. Time I Saw my 1st Bruce Lee movie minis the energy Rush! Thanks for sharing!
Same here. Not sure it happened like heĺler making out.? But Bob wall joking as they were friends. Jackie Chan also joked he could beat Benny urquidez while on film set wheels on meals with Benny urquidez and went around boasting that he was going to fight Benny for real. But it's like a family on set Bob probably just trying to entertain crew members between takes with banter. The real serious talk of Lee killing wall as Bob cut Lee's hand was more of a genuine talking point.
indywannabbee Yea, I remember that. And you know THAT could never happen. But I did see a short clip with Joe Lewis and Wall where there were dissing Bruce. Lewis sounded drunk.
@@estebannemo1957 But I'm sure Bob wall and joe lewis wished they could beat him. Bruce used to beat Bob wall.in sparring. I'm sure Bob wall was envious of Bruce's superior fighting ability. As was Joe and they weren't above taking posthumous cheapshots.
@@iluvcliffrichard Strange indeed...a young fighting Joe Lewis says at RU-vid, that Bruce was, BY FAR, the greatest of them all...he also says other champions (Mike Stone & liar Norris) denied Bruce ever trained them, but evidence is immediately shown to contradict them and confirm Bruce was their teacher and handled them the way a parent would a young child...below is a link to Joe saying all this... youtu.b/0LkqNBWoxeQ
Think about THIS! To this day, modern movie makers haven't even come CLOSE to finding a Martial Artist NEARLY as photo- genic as Lee; They haven't found a MA nearly as DYNAMIC as Lee; They haven't found a MA nearly as CHARISMATIC as Lee was. And honestly, amongst ALL the violent---long, drawn out Fight scenes since that time...Not a ONE of them equal the very BEST of Bruce's fight scenes---Bar none!
the fact that Bruce was so nervous about ETD is the most human thing ive heard about Bruce. often times you hear about him being confident to the point of cockyness but the fact that he was so nervous that he didnt show up on set for two weeks speaks to his vinerability
BRIEF BLOG 1/4/2024: INTERESTING INTERVIEW AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. (RIP) (SENSEI) BRUCE LEE, THE LATE JIM KELLY & JOHN SAXON & ALSO A SHOUT OUT TO THE LATE SHIH KIEN. IN CASE FANS OF THE ETD FILM DON'T KNOW, ETD WAS ENTERED INTO THE CONGRESSIONAL FILM REGISTRY SEVERAL YEARS AGO, AS "OF BEING OF HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE." WHICH IS MORE THAN JUSTIFIED I'D SAY.
According to Jim Kelly when Bruce touched Bob Wall's hand, Bob held onto the bottle, when Bruce turned around he got his hand cut. The way I look at it Bob should have dropped the bottle when Bruce touched his hand. Bob told Jim Kelly that Bruce did not kick his hand hard enough. I think well it is a movie Bruce did not have to kick his hand hard. Plain and simple Bob Walk made a mistake.
Not really a simple mistake, and not at all any of the actors' faults. It was the director's fault: It was up to him to have fake glass for that scene. That's the real reason for what happened there.
I've made my rounds with kung fu classics since I first saw Enter the Dragon, 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Hapkido, Yellow-Faced Tiger, Fist of Unicorn, Lady Snowblood and so forth.... NONE of them compare to this film.... not even Way of the Dragon. This was something special and captivating, however it could've used a better editor behind the desk lol. Some of them cuts are rough man, yes yes I know it's old
As for the bottle scene, they should have had fake bottles. Therefore Bruce Lee wouldn't have got his finger cut. According to what I have heard, I do not know if it's true or not, Bruce Lee tapped Bob Walls hand with his foot, Bob Wall should have dropped the bottle, but instead had the bottle in his hand, which Bob Wall should have dropped the bottle. And Bruce turned around and cut his finger. Like I said I don't know if it's true or not.
Joe Lewis is on video saying “Bruce Lee hit like a heavyweight” and “Bruce Lee was the fastest man whoever stood before him.” Joe Lewis was no Lee sycophant. Bob Wall said of Bruce Lee’s fighting skills that he was “world class”. They were heavy weights, Lee was 135/140lbs. Lee probably only beats them by taking them to the ground which he was capable of doing. Karate Champ Mike Stone, also no Bruce Lee sycophant, said Lee could have beaten competition a few weight classes above Lee’s weight class.
World class means there are others on Bruce’s level when in reality Bruce was above that. Bob is full of shit and always changing his opinion on Bruce. Also, it wasn’t Bruce’s thing to take people to the ground. He didn’t need to. His speed and power alone was more than enough to beat people.
Bob Wall never said Bruce was a world class fighter, in fact Bob said Bruce wouldnt fight because his ego couldnt take losing. . Joe stated Bruce was not a fighter. Bruce wasnt familiar enough with grappling to beat anyone on the ground.
@@cuzz63 Actually, he said exactly that. Called his martial arts skill “world class.” He may have also said other things at other times contradicting that. More importantly, HW champ Joe Lewis is on video saying Bruce Lee is the fastest man who ever stood before him and that he hit with the power of a heavyweight. MMA fighter Stephen Thompson is on video saying Joe Lewis said the same thing and that Lee was the real deal.
@@cuzz63 Wrong. Show me another film or video from 50 years ago that shows the arm-bar being used, other than Bruce Lee’s. You can’t. Lee trained with world judo champ and wrestling expert Gene LeBell and another Olympic judo champ. He also trained with a ju jitsu expert. Lee was ahead of his time back then. Had he lived he was always searching out new cutting edge knowledge. Per MMA experts his book on fighting written 50 years ago holds up very well.
Uncle Tony He died of a Cerebral edema which was said to be most likely caused by an allergic reaction to a painkiller. Though, heat stroke can cause the same effects. He started having headaches quite often.
@@DaffyYoshido yeah, I cannot buy that explanation because only about 1 month before he died he was hospitalized (I believe after passing out). in all likelihood that event was related. too much of a coincidence otherwise.
@ray h. I'd have to disagree. My choice is The Big Boss, i.e., better story (believable), better writing (EtD had some very corny lines), better acting (Bruce's acting was superb), better music (had depth and didn't sound commercial). Also, BB tugged at your emotions; EtD didn't even try to.
I've had people tell me they thumbs down my videos just because they want to be the first to do it... that's the kinda dregs of society you deal with on youtube. It doesn't really matter though, comments are the only thing I really care about.
Bob was on a podcast recently with Bruce willow. He claimed he talked shit to Bruce on set saying how he had little Chinese hands and can’t break a board or some crap like that. Really condescending shit.

@@johnlee5423 Really, do you have a link? because the doc interview I watched they were talking about his physical prowess and skill level. I know Bruce got mad at Bob in "Enter the Dragon" because he missed the que and cut Bruce with a bottle.
Of course he would say that because he would be a complete unknown if it wasn't for Bruce, seriously watch the video where Lewis and Wall bad mouth Bruce. Wall is full of BS was jailed for fraud
