RIP To The Creator Of "All In The Family" "The Jeffersons" "Good Times" "Sanford & Son" "One Day At A Time" "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", "Maude" & Many More
More then half my childhood TV viewing experience was created by Norman Lear. His shows were a huge influence on me when I was young and really taught me a lot about the world. We won't see that kind of genius and genuine goodness like him again in this lifetime, I think. RIP Mr. Lear, rest easy good sir.
Sorry no they weren't. All in the Family and Sanford and son were based on British shows till death do us part and Steptoe and son. He most certainly did not create those shows he just did an American version of them.
@grandadneal8114 Wow butt hurt much! I don't know if he made those shows based on the British version or not, but for those of us who are North American, those shows he created were new and original to us, and for many like myself they in part shaped how I understand and relate to the world. So for that, he will always be remembered.
You for sure will never see another one like him. If you tried to produce All in the Family today you'd be cancelled after the first episode ran. The guy touched on topics that no one would touch with a ten foot pole and put them in the mainstream with no fear of losing sponsors or advertisers.
I am from North America. and YES those were based on British Sitcoms. Please Educate yourself and get outside of the American Bubble and expand your horizons@@Aphrael76
My parents insisted on my bedtime in conjunction with the Sunday Night start of All in the Family …and they would order a pizza from my uncles restaurant …and I would listen to them laugh their asses off with my older brother and sister ….until I protested and insisted on being a part of this nova
He was one of best! Somehow he created shows, especially Archie Bunker that we all laughed at even though they crossed the line a lot of times. I still watch All in the Family. RIP Norman
@@dennismclaurin1487 According to the SongFacts website, among other song lyric websites, it’s “Boy . . .”not “By . . . “. Plus, I was in my teens when All in the Family was appointment viewing on Saturday nights. I heard the song once a week, for years. I clearly heard - and remember - “Boy”.
Norman Lear made us laugh. We laughed at each other, no matter race, creed, class, etc., and most importantly, he made us laugh at ourselves. We realize that we're all just human, and struggling in our own ways, and in need of salvation, even if he didn't know his messages did that, but he probably did. May he receive God's infinite mercy. 🙏
And I'll remember how he took John Amos's job away from him after Mr Amos wanted more for his TV family 😘and Norman was supposed to be his friend 😘❤️🖤💚🙏🏽❤️🖤💚live long and strong Mr Amos live long and strong 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😘and God deal with you Norman the thief and exploiter of the Black Community 🤨
*@evonza4858* Now do NOT be stupid, and pull out the race card to turn this thing ugly, FOOL!! These things happen in HOLLYWOOD all of the time, with salary issues, even with professional athletes! Heck, I wish I can make that much! So stop it with that nonsense and grow up!!!!😠 A WISCONSIN REPUBLICAN❤ VOTER 🇺🇲👍 Tony, an old school guy 63-year-old Black US AIR FORCE VET ✈️🇺🇲
Those were my sick days from school. In the late 90s and ealry 00s, if I stayed home from school, I would go back to sleep, wake up at about 10, turn on UPN, and watch All in the Family. Everyone else watch the Price is Right, I watched Archie call Mike a "meathead."
He also purchased the copy of the Declaration of Independence for $8 million, that had famously been found in back of a $4 frame from a flea market, and then had it tour schools and libraries around the country for a year so that children could see it.
RIP Mr.Lear condolences to his family, I'm 61 grew up watching these classic sitcoms, as is Mr.Lear ❤. those r the Best. Which r still in our home every week to this day.And yes he did make us laugh as is todays times it seems they have continued to do the job, which he created them to do... Thank you for the laugh,an laugh we did.an still does,
They were all just actors, but it was Norman Lear they had many LGBTQ+ characters in the TV episodes, with the transgender person in a episode of "The Jeffersons". Had them before Billy Crystal played the part of a homosexual man in the TV series "Soap".
Norman Lear got credit for a lot of things he didn't have anything to do with..like...Sanford and Son...Good Times etc...the black writers made those shows, he knew nothing about our culture.
Noman Lear made us laugh. We laughed at each other, no matter race, creed, class, etc., and most importantly, he made us laugh at ourselves. In the humor, we realize that we're all just human, and struggling in our own ways, and in need of salvation, even if he didn't know his messages did that, but he probably did. @@joseh3564well give credit to the real genius behind " all in the family " ... " the Jeffersons ".."sanford and son" Eric Monte " show him the same reverence..say his name!!!
I'm not here to see, but all I can say that the late Norman Lear lived a longer life than most others have had anyway. I'd watch either show right away, but I still have too much in my plate right now!
It’s fascinating to learn about this icon here, Norman Lear. How much did he contribute, write and produce for our entertainment? The show’s listed here are classic and have much more style, wit, and messages that are still relevant today. Peace to Norman Lear.
Who remembers Good Times and how both the Evans were deliberately removed from the script because of their discontent of how blacks were being portrayed?! Doesn’t seem to be such a good man after all.
@@Mr64Duke I think you missed my point. The media is not your friend, they did not do this for good hearted reasons, they did this to keep dividing us. That's what they do daily. They make sure we KNOW we are Black and white and we are different. They want to make sure the blacks know they are the victims and the whites are the evil ones towards blacks. Our country can't prosper if we are fighting ourselves, those in Washington can't control us if we are fighting and not watching them steal our tax money. Our roads, bridges, train systems, buildings, houses are all falling apart and we are broke. Why do we have billions to send to Ukraine but our citizens are homeless? Because they keep us divided and poor so they can stay rich
