I lived in Lagos in the 70's and 80's I experienced ethnic discrimination first hand in school and in my place of abode. I lived then in Rotimi Street, Off Nathan Street, Surulere. In school I was addressed as "omo kalami" my name was never pronounced well. They mock me for being a Calabar boy, they pronounced my name as if it's a worm. Each time I go to Tejuoso market they forced me to speak Yoruba but my language means something of disrespect. In the compound each time there was disagreement the people will attack us simply because we're minorities. It wasn't a comfortable experience staying in Lagos as a young person. I'm not Igbo but a Cross Riverian from Ejagham extraction. They hate every Southern minorities in Lagos. This is why I can't allow my kids to work and live in Lagos but the Yorubas are everywhere in Calabar my home town. No one discriminate against them but they hate other minorities. It's not something that started yesterday but Tinubu and his family has taken it to new height and it's the new norm in South West politics.
