Got the upgrade. Some cool stuff. Like has been mentioned, could be some improvements. The green interface might work for the Borg but it's bad on humans. Font choice is bad and too small in many important places. Keep the font contrast high and forget about being artsy fartsy - we want to read stuff. Not all of us have perfect vision. Some keyboard shortcuts would be nice. Double click on a note should delete it or even using the delete key ( who'd a thunk?😊). Be nice if the Previewer window DID NOT autoplay when you tweak. That would be a nice setting to turn on and off. I'll come up with a couple more. Look - it's a very cool product and you are not asking an arm or leg... so I'm grateful, but you could take it over the top with a few improvements and... dare I say, some professional demonstrations. Wish I had the time, I'm using ReMIDI for some pretty neat tricks.
I just bought it. Here are some things that need improvement... 1) Changing the previewer selection above the pads should not force the play button to suddenly activate; if I want the sequence to play then I will press the play button. 2) If I drag a pattern onto a pad, the vertical cursor in the editor should automatically be positioned at the mid-point of that grouping of notes so that zooming in and out will stay roughly on the notes not just zooming toward scroll position zero. 3) Double-clicking a value should set that value to a default (usually zero). 4) Double-clicking a scroll bar handle should cycle the zoom through [zoom last chosen by user], [show all selected notes], [show all notes]. Or something similar. 5) In the editor, double-clicking on a note should delete the note. 6) There needs to be a way to shorten an editor sequence, trimming the beginning and end. 7) It would be nice if the left and right jump could be set to either the length of the selection (as it currently behaves) or to the length of the current beat size. 8) If the user selects a pad that is empty, pressing the play button should play the sequence in the previewer, and the arrow keys should move the selection in the previewer. Possibly the program needs a toggle button to choose whether the user is trying to work with the previewer or the editor. 9) It seems like there are only 16 pads, unless I'm missing something, you should give us multiple pages of pads so we can fill the whole keyboard range with sequences 10) It would be nice to see a thumbnail indicating the data contained in a pad or at least a symbol identifying whether a pad is empty. 11) In the harmony tool, changing the chord type destructively changes notes and can even move them left and right, and there is no way to undo the changes. 12) The strum tool is buggy and destroys most sequences by causing notes to disappear. 13) It would be nice if playing a pad went through the following stages... StartSequence, StartLoop, EndLoop, EndSequence. When a key is pressed it would start the sequence, entering an area where it would loop (or not if the user doesn't want it to loop), and when the user finally releases the pad then the sequence would finish off by playing through the end sequence.
Hopefully that won't be the case where it takes three years to see new updates, but their upgrade price was reasonable enough I didn't mind taking a chance on it. I am curious to see what they do with the project because ReMIDI is very similar to a project I was planning to build in the early 2000's, even the strumming and humanized emulation features are similar - I never had time to build it, so it's nice that someone is working on something similar.

I know you must understand that a lot of work goes into developing this kind of software and it does take some time to get right based on user feedback. I am glad Songwish is moving forward with the remidi idea. First I should say that I have not bought version 3 yet. This is what I am looking for in 3.... Keep it easy to use and Very very light on cpu (this is essential as many folks use it on multiple channels). Your added editor and editor tools look very powerful in the controller layer perspective. Right now I can't get remidi 2 to pass through the sustain data of a piano track! Please add sustain, and other controller data such as expression to be used on remidi tracks. Also An Easy way to set what key on ones controller of choice the midi will start on. eg. people have different size keyboards 49, 61, 76, 81. Sometimes I have one remidi with 80 tracks in it, so an easy and elegant way to scroll through them and See them all is important. Many people need to have 10 or 12 remidi open at one time on screen, so a compact essentials only view would be very nice. There is a Big need for a program that can be a simple but effective controller layer for Orchestral and pop music. I use remidi 2 in my RTS system. Using a controller layer between your vst and daw is the future and only real break through in many years (in my opinion). Remidi could and should be a leader in this future. lean simple and effective. Now all my opinions are from my perspective. Perhaps you could offer 2 versions... one for your original audience and one for RTS and controller layer people. Thanks
Fun fact the most pleasing color to the human eye is a warm orange. Just fyi since everyone is talking about how green hurts their eyes. Maybe in the future itll be a simple theme color picker like fl studio has for labels and patterns
The one feature I would really like to see with this, is the same feature you get with Serato sample where you can randomise the MIDI file across all the keys. This will be very inspirational especially when you've heard the same MIDI file over and over it's nice to have those happy accidents of inspiration just by hitting a randomised button as well as the option where is slices each Note to a separate channel. Was hoping to see this in version 2 so would really be good to have it on version 3
Well I just bought remidi 3. I agree with most here that the fonts are way to small and unclear. I am glad the interface can be made large or smaller. Please return the layer filters and make them even clearer then before as all my midi files are multi tracks. I need to be able to select a certain trk and edit that on the fly. In fact using remidi as a controller layer is impossible without that imo. Using remidi to trigger the amazing ezkey piano phrases is not possible without remidi recognizing a full midi file which includes sustain data. If remidi can handle said controller data as expression and others it means that one could program beautiful string melody phrases with full expression (as just one example). Here is the one million dollar feature.... In your new editor can you include a chord track that can be saved and loaded with the remidi preset. One chord per bar or 4 beats And can that chord trk simply light up the notes on the grid below it as... green for all notes of the chord, blue for notes of the chord and possible harmonies, red for notes not of the chord, similar to what cubase does. This one feature alone will make remidi 10x more powerful imo. The potential here is vast and perhaps you don't even realize. add the ability to set the midi file to start at key 1 on a 49 keyboard, 61 keyboard, 76, keyboard and 81keyboard. If you can do these steps remidi would be a true power house to a degree that most can't imagine. That's why tutorial videos are so important. Using a controller software between your vst's and your daw is the future imo. Remidi with some added features is positioned to hopefully lead the way. I hope you can do it, cause remidi version 2 is already powerful as a controller.
I have always liked the concept of this plugin but I didn’t find the functionality of remedy 2 that great tbh, so was excited to see the upgraded version. However, after watching this video and reading the comments I won’t be upgrading just yet. In the video it says “The beauty of it is you mostly have to use your ears and stay within a key that you’re familiar with”. Surely having a key/scale lock opens up many creative possibilities with the existing midi library and also any randomisation features of the editor? Also… Taking away the auto mapping feature seems a step backwards and the UI looks like something from when I first started out about 25 years ago. It seems you are taking all the feedback on board so I have subscribed to the channel and look forward to the future updates. Good luck with it 😊
What on earth is going on with these fonts and colours? It's barely usable. This obsession with modern look over practicality is just getting ridiculous. I'm using a 2560# 1440 resolution and frankly, it's almost impossible to use.
In ReMIDI2, I liked the happy accidents that came from playing random notes on my keyboard, once the whole long midi was cut into slices and automapped to all the keys. Yet I missed the chance of transforming the slices in that piece of software, and turned to others to do that (Scaler, that does the scale adaptation and it is a world of harmony, and Melodya , that has musical melodic tools to transform a midi - horizontal and vertical inversion, repetition patterns eg ABCAB etc) while Remidi 2 had just transposition and time division/multiply. With Remidi 3 it seems you address this issue, and add teh capability of adding/editing notes and transformative tools, which is much welcome and the right direction of development. I will join when an upgrade is ready, restoring the backward functionality so that I can use one program for everything. I see this video after 4 months, so I hope it will happen soon.
I was stoked to see a new REMIDI version and with the upgrade price it seemed like a no brainer. However, the 16-pad limitation, the missing auto slice and channel filters are serious downgrades to me. Cool to see you were listening to the complaints and suggestions and vowed to implement the requested features, but it's a bit concerning that 6 months ago the update was supposedly "almost done" and since then there's been no public word from you (much less an update). Are you guys ok? Please let us know how things progress! Until then, I'll stick with V2.
This seems to be missing the filter option from the 2nd version and also in the old version you could just load the midi file and play slices of it on the keyboard straight away. In this you've got to click and drag on each section you want with the mouse - listening to it looping over and over - before you can play it on the keyboard?! What's the point, this was the main feature of the program, no? Already bought this update but these missing features make the program redundant to be honest and not much different to editing midi files directly in the DAW.
whoa! just saw that its missing the auto chop! that was the whole point to me as well. bummer! hopefully they can add it back, or maybe we are just missing it somewhere in the ui or menu
whats missing is a midi search engine that houses all of your midi files from your computer, sort of like loop cloud or ADSR sample manager, i dont know how everyone misses this, SongWish as the ability to do it.
Dear SongWish Inc. Team Can you build a midi sequencer like the "Fugue Machine"? It can play midi forwards & backwards at the same time & it has multiple play-heads to start form different positions & more. You obviously have the knowledge to build something like this as you already did with your remidi series. I own Remidi 2 & Remidi 3 both are excellent to work with. Please take a look into the "Fugue Machine" & build something similar or even better! Thank You!
What happened to the auto mapping feature that v2 had? In v2 I'm able to load a midi file and start playing differ keys on my midi keyboard without touching anything else.
Right yeah you have to drag them on the buttons it seems. Also it would be nice if the buttons weren't default mapped to the lowest notes on the keyboard, that is fine if you have 88 keys but most of us don't typically always have that size of a keyboard hooked up.
i toyed around with it, but then after a while i asked myself: What is the point of sampling Midi through a specialized plugin/tool when in almost ALL the modern DAWs a) you can literally drag-n-drop a midi sample as both a file or an in-memory midi clip b) be prompted to split it up by channel or by detected midi tracks within the sample, upon you dropping it into the DAW c) use a RANGE selection tool to "visually" sample ANY [visually-enticing] part of your imported/dropped-in midi clip, INCLUDING its other non-chord tracks :)) d) increase/reduce the tempo as you playback your selection in your DAW's timeline, i.e. scrub the tempo/speed up or down as rapidly as you feel like it. e) and apply FARRR smarter Midi processing (powered by the midi processing menus of your DAW), to apply insanely-comprehensive processing on just your RANGE selected portion of your imported Midi clip. AND I was like . . . "no thanks" Can someone perhaps point me in the right direction if I am totally LOST about what this plugin truly attempts to achieve 🤔🤔?
Upgraded from Ver 2 to Ver 3. I love the feature you added to the new version but Really confusing at all. Even a basic function is not working properly. If you put a midi file, really hard to split inside the reMIDI 3 because its divider can not be located at the edge of the midi file. It is really annoying. Please fix it. And why does not it have DAW sync function?
Thanks for update and video. However - the way I want to use the plugin is to edit from a MIDI file - take the elements you like and then export to your DAW, and from there edit. I don't need the edit functions in reMIDI. I need to edit fast and efficient from a complex MIDI file - extract a melody and go to the DAW. I think you're focusing on the not relevant aspects in your video.

It would be nice to be able to select specific channels/tracks in the 2D view or even filter what plays. I can then chose only specific parts instead of everything combined. I thought this was a feature in 2 but I don't remember. As others have mentioned, auto slice is needed, the note editor needs some process/workflow improvements, and I am also having issues reading the text on the interface and the notes.
it still needs work , should of had a scales & key feature , because if you don't know music theory you don't kn what you're playing, you can move up and down in octave tho, but piano roll should of had the name of keys, the zoom in and out could be way better , and auto chop is neede, will wait of more videos to drop or a update but I definitely need more features.

Hellow SW People. Seems the Better Way to work "Editor Harmonizer" is never mixing the use of Midi's no matter if they are not part of the "Pad" we are working with. At least is what I learned after 2 days trying to work some pads via the MIDI catalogue and other pads doing my own exploration setting 2 notes and finding what to come from "Editor Harmonizer" ... OTHER A SUGERENCE ... When you do the next UPDATE please let us the chance in SETTINGS to configurate the PADS Keys in the keyboard IN ONE SHOT. For example: SETTINGS > Your Midi Key Preference Start from > Default -C2 > Or choose from which KEY you want the 16 Pads to work ... Then I choose: From C2 and all the pads authomatically set the next 15 Pads to the next 15 Keys. Thanks
I find strum tools a bit weird - it's the easiest thing in the world to do in any piano roll, I don't see the point. I don't even know if they save time in most DAWs.

Not bad at all, but . . . the concept of Midi sampling, is still FAR more superior in . . . . Toontrack EZKeys. If other products and competitors in the computer-generated midi market could simply study the design and concept used by Toontrack EZKeys . . . and then simply IMPROVE on that concept, boyyyyy . . . we could REVOLUITONIZE and CHANGE the WORLD of machine-generated Midi in a YEARRR 🥰🥰🥰
moving from one pad to another can't follow the beat like NI Maschine 2. Making it a little difficult when playing in real time. The pad also always starts at the beginning, it can't continue from the beat like legato on Ableton Live clips.
Hey there, I have a question for you. Have you used reMIDI with Maschine 2 software/hardware? If yes, can you give me info about your MIDI settings and how to run it in Maschine? It won't work in my case. I've tried every combination in the MIDI settings, but I can't route reMIDI to another sound (track) source and I'm not getting sound from other instruments.
Kinda sad your feedback didn't include using a modern color scheme, instead of an 1980s monochrome monitor look. Modern products even allow skins. Keyboard shortcuts for editing notes in the lower section, or the voicings?

I'm a fan of v2, but I'm waiting to upgrade to v3 until the UI is customizable. Like a few others have said, this color scheme is VERY hard on my eyes. Also, is the font size adjustable? I work on a 1440p monitor, and having that option can be very important.

Instead of releasing a tutorial alongside the update, which it really isn't, it's a NEW VERSION, you should have made a very short, fast, wow-video about what remidi is, what you can do with it and how it stands out from the rest. Three minutes and you'd convince probably everyone to buy it, instead this is 14 minutes, I've seen half and I feel like I have to do a ton of more research before I buy it, if I buy it, which I think at the moment, but I'm not sure. If I'm going by how this thing is presented, I won't buy it, but it seems from the comments (and not the video!!!) that I need this plugin.

Hi roka1173, this is definitely possible with the midi file dragout icons located on the reMIDI 3 interface. You’ll find in the Main Toolbar -> top right: “Joined Clips”, “Separated Clips”. I don't get what the new additions are all about with remidi 3. That's a midi generator like tons other on the market. I was excited when I first received the update email, but not now anymore.
Thanks for the comment. Many users have already chosen to upgrade. This is only a brief overview of reMIDI 3. We worked very hard at this and care about helpful user feedback. We listened to users and did our best to deliver a fresh new design/workflow + major features that were not there in reMIDI 2 or other midi generators (more tutorials to come soon). Generally speaking, this version is easier to understand and use. We aren't aware that there is currently a faster and easier way to navigate MIDI files/slices in real-time using up/down/left/right QWERTY keys. We added a piano roll editor which users requested as it keeps them in the plugin. We even went one step further to make it easier to lay down pro chords inside the editor - we partnered with Musician Paradise to offer amazing chord sets with an incredibly simple and intuitive way to choose chords that is a completely new method not on the market - you only need to be inspired to input the bottom and top note and the rest is filled in for you with many chord types to choose from. Would you mind sharing more details about how your expectations weren't met? We will be rolling out free reMIDI 3 updates for our users in the coming months.
@@songwishInc well, I had not expectations at all. Remidi 2 is a very niche midi generator, with midi slicing at the core, which make it stands among the others. Which other major SW can do the same? None. Which other can do pro chords+melody+whatever? Almost all of them. I opened the walkthrough expecting some magics but I didn't find them. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool piece of sw, but I already own a couple of this. I guess for 19 bucks the navigation feature is a no-brainer anyway, just my 2 cents about the rest.
@@natureseyemusic that's what was remidi 2 was about. Now we are talking about the third iterations and the usefulness of the generators along with the core functions of the plugin

Really disappointed with this update. The GUI is really awful on my 4 k monitor, the fonts are not legible, it doesn't seem to resize properly at all. And the green just gives me eye strain. It also freezes all the time. one of the most buggy software i have used. Feels like its in alpha state. I find it hard to believe this has seen any beta testing at all.

Just purchased. Many of the comments highlight significant issues with UI and UX. They are all considered comments, mine will be less so. Remidi is a fantastic concept but this has to be one of the ugliest UI designs ever. The color palette, the font, the bizarre bezel glow, the sizing and scale of components, the list is endless. Did none of the beta testers say how bad these design choices are? The UX is a nightmare too. This is a detail oriented application and everything is designed to confuse and confound workflow. What an absolute disaster! Lets hope the 3.x update addresses the many issues.
